  • Should I pay an $80 dollar cell phone bill, when I don't think I owe anything to save my credit?

Last spring I switched cell phone plans from AT&T to Verizon. I was on a month to month plan at that point. I paid AT&T the amount that was left on my account, and went on with my life. A couple months later I get a call from AT&T saying I still owe them 80 dollars for service. I explained that I had cancelled, and paid my account off, the lady who I talked to went over my account, and agreed an error had been made, and said that my account will be updated as it looked like an error on their end. A few months go by, and then I start getting collection calls, I explained to the creditors the same situation, and they pretty much left me alone on the point. I even got a letter, and I replied back about the conversation, and included in the letter I would gladly pay any money owed if they can show me proof of where I owe them money, nothing came. Today I get another call from a creditor, and at this point I am getting a little tired of the calls for something I don't think I owe, I told them they will have to take me to court and prove I owed the money, and I am sure that phone conversations can be obtained where AT&T said my account was cleared. The lady replied back that in my contract I still owe since they bill 1 month behind schedule, and told me to read the contract and it says it there. She may be right since I don't have the contract anymore, but then again it doesn't make any sense since I have always paid them every month, for years, and AT&T told me I was caught up when I settled. I told the lady I talked to I won't pay them since I was told my account was clear, and they would have to prove that I owe the money. Their reply was that I am going to be reported to the credit bureau and my credit rating will suffer, which now I am a little concerned. I have worked very hard to get my credit rating to where it is now, and would hate to destroy it on a trivial bill, but then again in principle I don't want to pay money that I don't think I owe. So I am not sure if I should just pay and get it over with, or if I should fight it with the risk of hurting my credit, but sticking to my guns.

Just hoping to get some advice on this situation. Thanks for the help.

  • What is your opinion of the Wednesday Arjuna flea market in Goa?

I am planning on going to Goa, but at this point I will probably leave on a Tuesday and go onto another destination in India, which means I will miss out on the Wednesday market. Is it worth spending an extra day there to experience it? I have a feeling most of the items there, I would find in my travels in India anyway, or at other markets in Goa, but I was wondering what other people thought. Thanks.

  • I have 19 days in India do you recommend touring North or South India?

I will be going to India in the end of March, either flying into Delhi, or Mumbai, depending on the area I decide to travel in. I have heard of great things about the North and the South. I have always wanted to visit the Taj Mahal and the north seems to have much to offer, however I have always wanted to visit Mumbai and Goa and have also heard the south is more colorful. I am well traveled and have been to many places in foreign lands, but this will be my first trip to India, so I will be a beginner in that sense, and since its a vacation I don't want to stress out or spend all my days traveling. I am in to learning about the culture, interacting with the locals, learning more about the hindu religion, experiencing the diversity of the country, getting some shopping done, and throw in some time to relax a little bit and not worry about work back home. I have also thought about maybe doing a little bit of both parts of the country, and maybe flying domestically between Delhi and Mumbai, would that be a feasible option with the time I have? Thanks for the input and help.

  • Am I not feeding my cat enough?

My cat is about 8 pounds, and I feed her 1 packet of wet cat food a day, along with a full bowl of dry food that gets filled as it is emptied. The animal shelter told me that the wet food, should only be for special occasions, not daily, but the directions on the wet food say 2 cans a day. I forgot to ask the vet, but after reading what the cat food says, I am a little worried that I may be underfeeding the cat. My cat would probably love getting fed 2 cans a day, but I don't want to overreact or make the cat fat. Thanks.

  • Would it be better to travel Australia via Camper Van, or stay in Hotels?

I would be traveling Solo(most likely), and would only be going for 3 weeks. Starting off in Melbourne and maybe ending up in Brisbane. My options are to rent a car and travel, and stay in Hotels in different towns, or I was reading about camper vans, and that seems like a fun option, and much cheaper, plus a lot of places seem to allow one way rentals. But I do like the cities, and was hoping to stay in Sydney for a few days, so I imagine it may be difficult to travel in cities with a camper van. I am just searching out my options, and was wondering what sounds like the better option. Thanks.

  • Is it abusive to a cat to play animal sounds to stir them up?

Sometimes, just to mess around with my cat I play sounds of other Cats meowing, or Dogs barking on my computer. With the cat sounds, my cat usually goes in territorial mode, and starts marking territory all over with the corner of her mouth, such as my computer, and myself. With the Dogs barking, my Cat immediately goes into high alert, and watches out the window, and searches my house out for a dog. Its all pretty fun, and cute, but I don't want to be cruel to the cat either, and possibly make the cat uncomfortable in its own home. I don't do it that much, just once in a while. So my question is, is it cruel to play sounds of animals to rile the cat up, or is it allright? Thanks.

  • What is the best way to get to Koh Samui from Phnom Phen?

I checked Bangkok airways, and its quite pricey, my other thought is taking Air Asia either to Bangkok, and then taking Bangkok air to Samui, or just taking Air Asia to Surat Thani. Or would it be better to fly out of Siam Reap to Samui? Or is there some land/ferry option that I don't know about? I am in the planning stages of a trip, so I am flexible.

  • Have you ever travelled to Isaan and what were your experiences?

Is it worth taking time to explore? I have been back home from Thailand for a month, and already planning my next trip(been 5 times already), Isaan is one area of Thailand I have never been to except to Udon Thani, but that was only as a transit point to Laos, so in reality I have never been. I imagine the tourist infrastructure isn't as built up as say Chiang Mai, or Samui. But I was wondering what other people thought about their travels there. Thanks!

  • How do you stop a cat from biting you while you are sleeping?

Lately my cat, has gotten into the habit of biting my finger tip fairly hard while I am asleep. Its kind of annoying as you can imagine, and usually when I wake up pretty upset, my cat runs out of the room really fast, as if she knew she was in trouble. I play with her and her favorite toy everyday. Closing the door isn't an option, because she will just claw at the door, and meow. So is there anything I can do, or should I just accept it as a cat owner? Thanks.

  • Which Hotel is better to stay at, Luxor or Excalibur?

I am thinking of taking a little getaway to Vegas in the next couple days, and have narrowed my choices to Luxor or Excalibur. I am leaning towards the Luxor mainly because I enjoy the nightlife better there, and have never stayed in the pyramid, but the Excalibur is about 25 dollars a night cheaper a night. Normally, when I go to Vegas I stay at the Mandalay Bay, but its sold out, and I am definitely not a big enough gambler to have the casino host book me a room. I haven't stayed at either of them, so I was wondering, between the two which one would be better to stay at? Thanks.

  • What is one thing you really dislike about Thailand?

I think Thailand is a wonderful country, and have been there 5 times, I just returned back from there. I would consider it my second country. But if there is one thing you don't like, what would it be? Mine is finding it difficult to get change for large bills, If I need to take a taxi or want to get something to eat at a food stall, and I only have 1000 baht bills I may as well have no money, I find myself going to 7-11 and getting a bottled water or a Red Bull, so I can have change, because many places don't have the change, or we have to run around to different places finding a place to break the bill. Thanks for your answers.

  • Travelling to Laos, should I bring small US Dollar denominations?

I am just wondering if its worth bringing smaller denominations of US Dollars, as at this point I will mainly be bringing in 20s and 50s. Or should I bring in smaller Thai Baht notes for smaller purchases instead of Dollar bills where it may be required? My hope is to mainly rely on withdrawing Kips at the ATM, but I have read that they run out of cash frequently in Laos. I already have my hotels/guesthouses booked and paid, so most of the money I will need is for spending money, food, and transportation. Thanks for the info.

  • How much has Pattaya changed over the years?

I am heading to Thailand next week for my 4th time, and am going to stay a few days in Pattaya after traveling Laos, and Chiang Mai. Last time I was in Pattaya was 1998 when I was 21, so its been almost 12 years, since I have been. What sort of changes should I expect, or is it about the same? And while I am on the same subject its been about 4 years since I have visited Chiang Mai, has the city changed much since then? Thanks for the answers.

  • How come in the NCAA teams can play night after night, but thats not the case in the NBA?

In tournaments college teams routinely play night after night, at least during conference and preseason tournaments, without hearing many complaints from the players. But in the NBA if a team plays a back to back they complain about fatigue, and how tough it is to play a back to back games.

Is it because college players are younger, or is it because the NBA game more physical and the season longer, or is it because the games in the NBA are longer? Just wondering if anyone had an idea. Thanks.

  • Does it hurt to let an indoor cat outside occasionally?

My cat is mainly an indoor cat who is spayed, however earlier she got out, and I tried to chase her down, but she got away, and disappeared for about an hour. I figured, no sense in looking, because eventually she will come back for food, and she did. I have a modest sized 2 bedroom condo, so I understand the need the cat may have to get out occasionally, and get some fresh air. So my question is, do you think its all right to let the cat out for a while if its mainly an indoor cat? My town I live in also has a large population of Coyotes, so the Animal Shelter does not recommend letting cats out, but my particular neighborhood is pretty insulated from the wildlife as there are a bunch of houses and apartments here. And my Mother also says that female cats tend to stay closer to home, and don't wander as far as male cats, so the cat should be pretty safe from getting into areas where the coyotes are? Is it true that female cats stay close to home when they get out? Thank you for your answers.

  • Can you book a day trip to Pai from Chiang Mai?

One that maybe goes to the town, and some of the attractions such as waterfalls, hotsprings, etc. I could only find one online to get an idea if there are any, and the cost was laughable something like 8000 baht, so I was wondering if you could book a day trip tour to the Pai area in Chiang Mai when I am there? Thanks for the information.

  • Why do cats have an extra "paw print" on their forearms?

I am not sure if I called it the right name but, what is the purpose of the extra paw print on their forearms? The one that is a couple inches above their normal paw. Is there a purpose for it? Thanks.

  • Which is a better choice, celebrating the Lao New Year in Luang Prabang, or Thai New Year in Chiang Mai?

I will be in Luang Prabang in April, originally I am planning on leaving Luang Prabang on the 11th, and flying to Chiang Mai for the Songkran festival. However the Lao New Year(sorry I forget how to spell it) sounds extremely intriguing, the more I read about it. But then again, I really doubt I will be disappointed by the Songkran in Chiang Mai. So anyway since its a little while away I can still change plans so I was wondering which celebration would you prefer to go to?

  • I work night shift, should I leave a light on for my cat when I am away?

Just wondering, I usually leave a curtain open, and she sits on the window sill, but I was thinking a light may help keep her somewhat happier when I am gone also. Thanks.
