My friend really likes this guy and he seems to like her back, but just recently he started joking and calling her a whore and a slut when she clearly isn't. what is he trying to do by saying that to her, does it mean anything?

hahah theres so much that im going to leave out because i cant remember it all but here is the basics:

i have known this guy sinse i was 8 but we didnt get to know each other better till 4 years ago. hes homeschooled. he is a year younger then me but is in my same grade. this fall we are going to college 3 hours away from each other.

i am pretty good friends with his sister and his family really likes me and trusts me. and my family is the same for him. my group of friends are seperated between who is okay with him and who doesnt like him. which makes it very hard for all of us to hang out together.

we have a lot in common and are always joking around with each other. hes had girlfriends but is single now. we are best friends and usually text everyday and hangout 1 or more times a week. we always have adventures and have gone on a road trip together, camping, ect.

we flirt ALL the time, but we have never hooked up, just a kiss on the cheek.

but he does things that piss me off and my friends think he does it on purpose but i cant tell... example- we usually go to dances together but my senior year i got asked to prom by one of my guy friends. and he still wanted to go so he asked one of our mutual friends (but at a dinner he announced to the whole table that he wanted to go with me.... hurting my friends feelings) . at prom he hooked up with a lesbian girl right in front of me, a few days after prom he asked me if what he did was wrong and if i was mad at him. another example- if he knows that im not fond of a girl it seems like he purposely will talk to them or talk about them in front of me. just to get a reaction.

but then he does things that make me like him. our movie nights where we stay up late talking. the whole time we were on our road trip was so fun and i missed being always around him after we got home. when i fall alsleep in his arms (he just so happened to be shirtless, dont know why, hahaha) just last week he invited me to go to the movies with him and his buddies... i was flattered because i got to know his friends better.

i have liked him on and off because he gives me mixed signals and confuses me hahaha. but no matter how hard i try to get over him he always does something to make me fall for him again. what is he doing is he trying to make me jealious? does he just want to be friends? more? i dont know but i dont want to straight out ask him because i dont want to make things awkward if he doesnt have the same feeling as i do. what the hell am i suppose to do
