  • Questions about bidding for airfare on priceline.com and layovers?

What is the policy for stops (layovers) when bidding on priceline? I can't find info on that anywhere on their site. I've never used priceline before but I need to find really low fares so I can make my dad's 70th b-day. I want to bid on 2 tickets to Shanghai from LAX with no more than one stop. A non-stop flight is already 14 hours. Is there a way to bid on non-stop flights only? Any useful advice about bidding on priceline is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Help, plants drowning. Need advice on clay garden soil?

My poor plants are still drowning. I was told by the guy at the nursery to add gypsum and soil builder to help drainage. The area is only 30 sq ft. I added half a bag of gypsum and 3 bags of the organic soil builder, tilled until every muscle was sore but the soil is still too wet. I looked at different website and they all say to do different things. So I'm very confused. Should I:

    a) just add more organic soil builder

    b) dig our some of the soil and replace it with topsoil

    c) dig our some of the soil and replace it with topsoil and sand or

    d) all of the above

  • Are you a pool cleaner? Please help me pick a Kreepy Krauly...?

Should I get the Kreepy Krauly Classic or Kruiser model? The classic seems more popular although the kruiser supposedly works better. There's good and bad reviews for both and I just can't decide.

I have an irregular shaped fiberglass coated in-ground pool. My current one just died and it never could get in the corners or the stairs. Any info you can provide is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Please help me select a brand of vinyl windows?

I need to replace 11 windows in my house. I've had three bids- they all pitched the brand they recommend as "the best in the industry". I just don't know who to believe. I live in beautiful, sunny southern California where it mostly hot and rains two weeks out of the year. The temperature hardly ever dips below 50 degrees.

    Should I choose:

    A) Simonton 7300 Series @ $9,000

    B) Jeld-wen Builder's Series @ $9,500 or

    C) Anlin Coronado Series @ $11,500

Please explain why especially if you have one of these brands. Thanks.

  • Your suggestions for fundraiser name?

We're raising money for a dog park. It involves a hodgepodge of things- selling doggie and human treat, recycling bottles and cans, and pet photography. What's your suggestion for a clever name for this event?

  • Do you own any Alton Brown "Good Eats" DVDs?

I want to buy the Alton Brown episode (on DVD) where he teaches how to make home made caramel sauce. I know it's in season 2, episode 12. However, I can't tell which DVD it's on:

    http://www.foodnetworkstore.com/ProductList.aspx?P...

I think it should be on volume 1 but I'm not sure. Does anyone out there own some "Good Eats" DVDs and know for sure? Thanks.

  • What do teenage girls and boys like as presents?

My nieces and nephew have birthdays coming up. What are reasonably priced items a 13, 12 (girls) and 10 year (boy) old would like? I know they all want a Wii but I don't have that kind of money. My budget is $20-$30 per child.

  • Have you had LASIK? Is IntraLase (no metal blade) worth the money?

I'm considering LASIK but can't decide between traditional LASIK with the metal blade and IntraLase with no metal blade. IntraLase costs twice as much as standard LASIK.

I've had consultations with doctors who do both. Each say it's safe so I'm still confused.

Which type did you have. Are you happy with the results? Any side effects?

  • Grammar question...capitalization?

In the sentence "I am applying for the position of sales manager," should sales manager be capitalized? please explain why.

I know you capitalize when the title is directly in front of the person's name like "Senior Editor John Doe is...", and you don't capitalize after as in "this is John Doe, our senior editor" but what about when the title stands alone?

  • Is it time to end my friendship???

Linda was my BFF in elementary school through high school. We're now in out thirties and have drifted further and further apart.

In my opinion it's because we've grown into different people with different views. I went to college, have been in my current career for almost 10 years now and I'm happily married.

Linda just graduated from college, STILL lives at home (she's 33!) and hasn't had any luck at love- mostly because the guys she dates are total losers. She's also become a born again RIGHT wing Christian. She constantly sends me chain emails about praying for this or praying for that. I don't belong to a particular religion so I mostly just hit delete.

Recently, she has started sending me anti-Democrat emails. She knows damn well that I'm a Democrat and I support Barack. I tried to tell her nicely that she has a right to her opinions but I would appreciate if she kept those opinions to herself but the emails keep coming. I'm tired of all her crap. Should I end our friendship?
