2 AnswersHouston1 decade agoStudy Abroad confuses me -- a parent?
My son wants to study abroad next year. He hasn't even selected a major yet and the programs that he's shown me appear to be experiential in nature as opposed to classroom study. Is that typical. I would rather him use classroom study. I am aware that his school would need to approve whatever study abroad program he chooses but I just don't see how it can all meld together to get him a degree. I would like him to see him study abroad but am very confused about the different programs available -- we really need him to be able to use all the credits he earns towards a degree -- whatever that may be.

My husband's Cobra coverage lapsed. He has been turned down by two insurance companies for health insurance because of low testosterone levels. Any advice on where or how to apply for health insurance? He is self-employed; we live in TX.

Is there any kind of extender that would give just a little more room? It's the kind with the metal hook on one side that slips into the stitched fabric opening on the other side.
7 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoIdeas for summer trip for high school senior?
I have a high school senior whose summer plans have fallen thru. He is very disappointed. Does anyone have any ideas for a replacement trip. He planned to camp/stay in hostels in Montana and the buddies now can't make it. He's probably on his own. I'm wondering if there are some summer adventure type trips he could sign up for. Serious answers only please.
4 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoGrowing grass on bare spots after trees are removed?
We removed two shade trees from our front yard that we think were really causing problems growing grass. This winter we planted rye grass seed to try and fill in the bare spots -- we've had some success but not complete. The lawn is St. Augustine and we have full west exposure (Houston, Texas). Any hints on what to do next to insure that the lawn will fill in completely. We still have a few pines trees but they are pretty tall and do not provide any shade on the grass.
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoCell phone and loud sound when charging question?
Has anyone ever heard of a loud sound blasting from a cell phone while it is charging? I'm talking about a sound loud enough to cause temporary hearing loss. This happened to a family member who turned the phone on to use it while it was plugged into a normal household outlet.

Considering buying a new vehicle but my number one concern is to make sure that I get the best overall new vehicle warranty, regardless of make or model. I would like to have a car that doesn't have "real" repair bills before it is paid for. Any advice?

My husband was laid-off from a job about a year ago. He has funds in the company profit-sharing plan that probably should be transferred into another type of retirement plan/account. He is now self-employed. Any suggestions? Is a Roth IRA an acceptable solution? Does anyone have some good leads on research that would help us make a good decision?

45+ years old. The body changes over the years. Things that still fit don't look right. I like a lot of the newer styles but don't want to feel ridiculous wearing them. Where to shop?
