Have 4JH3-TE Yanmar engine that started overheating.?
When start engine, it discharges coolant through heat exchanger overflow pipe to reservoir.Consequently, not having enough coolant it overheats. Notice that fresh water heat exchanger builds up pressure within after engine started. Removed all fresh water hoses to inspect for clogged lines,O.K./Also inspected salt waterside and replaced rubber impeller since had cover off. Checked for thermostat being stuck closed, but it was removed by prior owner. Checked for "blow by" and compared pressure to sister engine/ok no blow by. Also, inserted oil absorbent pad into f/w reservoir and no indication of L.O. contamination.Believe removing fresh water pump would my next step? One mechanic told me to run engine at 2000rpm for 30-min since hardly ever run over 1500 and something may be clogging heat exchanger. What's next step, remove and inspect f/w pump?
