Why are Christians such hypocrites?
Don't get me wrong...I AM one. I just would like to know why it is that so many of the Christians I run across these days aren't any more trustworthy or accountable for their actions than the average non-believer. What happened to integrity? Why do most Churches care more about getting new carpet than feeding the homeless? I have quit going to Church for these reasons and now just study the Bible at home and worship my way. Then I don't have to worry about what outfit to wear and whether or not the worship team leader wants me to play my tambourine at the Church picnic. (long story but true. As a professional tambourine player, I was notified that I couldn't play at the casual church picnic because they wanted a different "feel" to the music. Gee, and I thought it was about getting together with other Christians to worship in the great outdoors.)
Can anyone tell me what is the point of calling yourself a Christian if you can't even "walk the walk"?
31 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMy dog ate peanuts and now she's sick...help!
Three days ago my miniature dachshund consumed some peanuts; my husband gave them to her. We didn't know that dogs weren't supposed to eat nuts and have been giving her a few when we eat them, but only about 4 or 5 at one time. Well, he gave her quite a bit and the next morning she was lethargic and threw up. There was a lot of nuts in her vomit and she had a really icky stool with what looked like some blood in it. The worst part was that she wouldn't even eat her "cookie" (milk bone biscuit) after she pooped which is a tradition. I worried about her all day but then she appeared to be feeling better and finally ate in the afternoon. Day two she got lethargic again and didn't want to eat. Her stools were still icky...not runny much, just soft. I looked online and found out that the peanuts made her sick, but other than something about her symptoms lasting for 48 hours, I didn't find out much. Last night she started acting fairly normal again so I figured she was out of the woods. This morning? Lethargic and still pooping those icky stools. I called the vet and she said that I could bring her in IF I WANTED. They could give her something to make her tummy feel better; but otherwise she didn't act like it was anything to worry about. Here's the thing...I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similar experience and knows what I can expect. We live on a VERY fixed budget and I wonder if I should take Molly in, get her poo tested (which costs a fortune) and get some medicine for her tummy if she's just going to improve on her own. She's an emotionally sensitive dog and I wonder if it's worth the trauma for her. On the other hand, I love her dearly and want her to feel better. Since the vet wasn't all that concerned, I'm not anxious to spend money I don't have so they can tell me she's got a tummy ache. I have a 4 o'clock appointment for today, but the vet said if she was doing better I could feel free to cancel. That doesn't sound like I should be worrying...but I am. Is there ANYONE out there that has had this happen with their dog?
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoAttention Mac users! got a photoshop question for ya...?
My daughter wants to buy the MacBook 13.3" laptop computer. It's a 2.4 GHZ machine with 2GB ram and 160 GB hard drive. The question is, will she be able to run Photoshop efficiently with this machine? Is there anyone out there that has this particular machine that runs Photoshop on it who can help me with this question? My brother who is a self professed Mac geek tells me she'd be better off with a MacBook Pro 15", but I've heard different from other sources saying she doesn't need to pay that much money for a good computer. She won't be running the really huge Photoshop, only the smaller version for artists. Any thoughts? We're picking up her new laptop at about 5pm tonight so I need answers NOW. Thanks!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoIs there a matte finish I can apply to my reborns to make them less shiny?
I recently bought two reborn dolls from a very talented reborner but when I got them, they were a little shiny. She told me she hadn't put a matte finish on them and now I would have to have them sent back and redone because the matte finish she uses is heat set and will ruin the eyelashes when it's heated. I was wondering if anyone knows of a matte finish I could apply to the dolls at home by masking off the eyes and hair. I need one that wouldn't hurt the Genesis heat set paints or the vinyl. My dolls are not silicone vinyl, just regular vinyl. I was hoping for something I could just spray on that would dry and take away the shiny appearance. If anyone knows of a product that could do that, will you please list it in your answers; maybe with a link so I could see for myself if it will work? Thanks!
2 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoHELP!!! Do I have to take the written test if my drivers license expired last Friday and I renew today?
I'm totally freaking out! My license expired on Friday, July 4th and I'm hoping if I go in to renew today that I won't have to take the written test again. I'm in Washington state but couldn't find an answer to my question on the DOL site. PLEASE let me know ASAP! I have ADD and am totally afraid of tests of ANY kind, especially high pressure ones. Thanks!
3 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade ago3rd degree ankle sprain, does it EVER heal?
On Dec. 3, 2006 I sprained my ankle badly. The Doc. said it was between a 2nd and 3rd degree sprain. I was 41 when it happened and he said it would take longer than usual for me to heal. Plus, I don't have medical insurance and wasn't able to go to physical therapy. Then, 10 months later I fell on that same ankle and fractured it in two places; they were just bone fragments but now I've got all this scar tissue. My ankle still hurts when I touch it; I think there's nerve damage. The skin is still tender as well. Can I ever expect more healing or am I stuck with this injury? I take glucosamine every day which is the reason I can walk without limping most of the time.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
