  • How to derive the equation of motion using Euler - Lagrange equation?

I need to explain the mathematical model on a Ball & Plate System just like the one in this page

    http://www.352.vsb.cz/english/laboratories/advance...

But I have trouble deriving it from equation 3.6 and 3.7 of total kinetic energy and potential energy into the four equations 3.9 to 3.12 using the "Euler Lagrange equations" cause there's no step by step explanation given.

Could anyone explain it step by step? I'm not that great in Calculus...

    Thanks for the help!

  • How do I pay and receive from Amazon Payments?

I had made an Amazon.com account a while ago, and recently done the Amazon Mechanical Turk Human Intelligence Tasks to earn some money. Now I want to pay using Amazon Payments to a game I've been playing.

I can see that my Amazon Payments account receive the money I earned from the Mechanical Turk. But I can't pay the game because my account is not "fully functional" yet, and to do so, I need to fill in my contact information. The thing is, I can't fill out my information because the country can only be the United States, which I'm not in!!!!!

Is there a way to change it?

  • Need a source for maglev train?

I'm doing a project for Mechatronics and I want to do research on magnetic levitation trains. I need to find a website, or someone who knows how make one so I can make a miniature working train. I don't want to use permanent magnets, as that is "cheating". I'm looking for design advices and the likes...

    Thanks in advance.

I've seen it in a Jason Mraz site...what the hell does that mean?

  • Visiting Paris...can I just show up at a hostel, and pay cash?

Yeah, that's the gist of it. I've picked a few hopefuls but I was thinking that I would be flexible about when I would check in, because I want to explore a bit before settling in.

I don't want to use my credit card, as it is for "emergencies only".

So, is that possible? Has anyone done that?

  • Throwing away overweight luggage?

Okay, so in about 2 weeks I will be leaving the country to go back home. The checked baggage limit that I got is 23 kg. I heard from a friend that if I tell them that I am a student going back home (which I am), I can get the limit up to 30 kg. Is that true or not?

Just in case I did go over the limit, is it possible for me to throw away some stuff into the garbage bin, in front of the officer (or getting out of the line, throw some stuff away, then go back again)?

  • Eurotrip group or no group?

At the end of July, I plan to go around Europe in general with a train...cause of my limited time, perhaps I'll only visit the main cities of every country. So my question is, would it be better to go travel alone, or with a group?

Also, please give me some advice on where I should go first, and where to next. And if you guys know a forum or website, or something that can help me meet people with the same predicament, please tell me.

    Appreciate all the help. Thanks.

  • I need to find a costume...or at least a kimono for the Japanese day in Duesseldorf, Germany?

Where do I rent or buy any good ones in Duesseldorf or any town near it? It doesn't really have to be a costume for cosplaying, just some traditional clothes would be fine.

Thanks, any answer would be appreciated. Oh, if I post this at the wrong category, please tell me also...

  • Suturing oranges helps you learn how to stitch?

The other day I had watched Scrubs, and this episode showed me that doctor Turk (The shows new Chief of Surgery) is teaching the new interns how to stitch by...suturing oranges.

Basically at the end of the episode, the interns skill significantly grew, and they said that it's all thanks to Turk...

So what I'm asking is, other than suturing pigs foot, that I usually see, is that a good and cheap way to train?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Re-format problem! CPU Usage 100% all the time! ?

Okay, so...I finally decided to reformat my laptop because there's lots of junk inside installed that can't be undone...(it's old games that I don't have the installers anymore...)Although it's slow, it still gets the jobs done...Word, movies, games, photoshop, etc

Well, enough on my life story,

Now, I just reformated it last night with a recovery program that Acer gives...and now, after I login to windows, and open the Task manager, it shows that the processes of...

    wuaclt.exe

    CCsoundServ.exe (or something)

    cli.exe

and a few more process that switches back and forth uses up the cpu 100% all the time...I try to open firefox, it opened 5 minutes after I clicked, I try to open iTunes, it takes more time that ff...the System Idle Process is at 0 % also...it's like the cpu works over and over again doing something that isn't even seen...

I can't even shut down through windows whatsoever, so I had to turn it off by pulling out the batteries...

Does anybody knows what to do in a case like this? If it helps, my laptop is an Acer 5672WLMi...

Oh yeah, and I don't know why, but the limit of the commit charge, err...that's the virtual memory, isn't it? Is 2456 MB...and I installed only a 1 GB RAM, and before the reformat, I remember the limit of the commit charge is around 1670 MB...

    Please help...

  • A Quote "Others simply exist..." is that right?

I saw it somewhere in a forum, somebody had a signature, with "It's rare to see someone alive...others simply exist" ~Julius Caesar~

Is that right? Was it Julius Caesar, and was the quote exactly like that?

Or was that user just made that up?

  • Lightning bolts through the air...?

If a person (Or a lightning generator) has static electricity inside his body for 1 GV (I think he's supposed to be dead by it, but bear with me...) can he/it shoot a lightning bolt to an object about 5 m away?

Is it possible? How can it happen? If so, what's the voltage running through the object?

    If not, why?

And, what's the electrical breakdown voltage for air?

Finally, can you give me a link or a very simple explanation on how the tesla coil works?

If you're looking for best answer, I'll give it to the one who gives the best overall answer.

  • How does lightning strikes?

From what I've learned (maybe not much), lightning happens because there are two things that has two different charges...

And I thought that lightning was supposed to come from point A to point B, and in the process itself, it creates the line that we see . But from the animation http://wvlightning.com/cgdesc.shtml, the leaders actually come from both side...so...which one is right? And why?

Second...let's say...If a person has static electricity inside his body for 1 GV (I know he should probably be dead, but bear with me...) can he shoot a lightning bolt to an object about 5 m away? If so, what's the voltage running through the object?

And finally, what's the electrical breakdown voltage for air?

  • Building an Iron Man Suit! Yahoo! Engineers, physicist and comic geeks, Help please!?

Okay...I after watching the movie, just like a lot of you guys, I got inspired and motivated into building a suit like Tony Stark...

Of course, I haven't really done the proper full research, but I guess I get the main ideas...

And right now my goal is, creating a machine, a gadget that can perform a function of the suit...

    For instance...

Enhancing strength: I found that Robot Suit HAL thing...

Cybernetic helmet (to control functions of the entire suit just by thinking about it...): This is actually being done by a professor Bin He in the University of Minnesota.

Flight: Not like Iron Man though...

Arc Reactor: Close to it anyway, I guess I need info on Cold Fusion, or perpetual energy.

Repulsors: Okay, like the law says, it would need around 2 GWs of power just to shoot it like Iron Man.

Heads Up Display: This has already been invented.

Could anyone tell me how to make it?

Okay, I'm not delusional...I'm just trying to find the road that can take me there...

    Fire Bending : Shaolin Longfist

  • I can't show my website in Google!!!?

Okay...I had already asked a question a few days before about why my blog doesn't come up when I used the Google search engine, even though I have entered my website's whole address (copy pasted) into the search box...

I reviewed the answers, and I found out that my website actually does come up inside of Google...(Google Blog Beta that is...)

And now, to be totally honest...I'm actually using my blog for affiliate marketing for a certain website...and I think I get the drill on how to use the blog for it...my only problem is...I can't seem to make my website to show inside the normal Google search engine (you know, the www.google.com place...) cause that's the place where people search for things, right?

Oh yeah, I had already aired the website since late October...can anybody help me on this? And please be it a step by step help...
