  • Travelling to Hawaii?

I'm planning a summer trip to Hawaii with my family. I've never been there and I've heard wonderful things. The question is, where should we go? This will be our first trip of probably many, given a good experience. My daughter is 3 so if we can go somewhere that's more family-oriented, that would be great.

  • What is a good colour of curtain to decorate my basement windows?

I have three small windows in my basement that need covering, one in the bedroom, the other two in the main room. I'd like something that would make the space look bigger than it is. My walls are light beige and the carpet is a beige-brown berber. Any suggestions?

  • Preparing Vietnamese Salad Rolls?

I've been to a few get togethers and we've made salad rolls with rice paper. Delicious! Of course, we eat them all that evening. I was wondering if anybody has had experience making them and storing them overnight without them drying out. I'm thinking of taking some to a potluck lunch, but I don't have enough time to make them in the morning. Any suggestions?

  • Traveling with a toddler?

I'm going on an 18 hour flight with my daughter who will be 2 in a couple of months. Insane, yes, I know. Any ideas of what to bring with me to occupy her during the waking hours? I'll be bringing some books, and videos on an iPod, and thinking of a travel magna-doodle. I'm looking for ideas that have worked with you and your kids.

  • Band Hero Wii or PS3?

I'm considering buying Band Hero for either the PS3 or the Wii. Are the songs the same for both consoles? How about downloadable material? Are they the same?

  • How to remove glue smell?

My daughter got one of those kiddie couches recently. The thing is it smells awful. I've narrowed it down to the glue that holds the foam pieces together. Any suggestions as to how to remove this smell? I've stuck the whole thing outside in the sun for two days and the only change is that the foam pieces changed colors.

  • Storing bottled cow's milk?

My one-year old has started drinking whole milk. I know that with formula, once she's started drinking from the bottle, it is good for an hour and then you have to dump whatever is left. I was wondering if the same applies to cow's milk or can I store what's left back in the fridge?

  • Re-heating thawed baby food?

I make my own baby food and freeze it in baby ice cube trays. My daughter can easily finish one cube but she can't finish two. Is it ok to thaw a cube, take out half, and put the other half back in the fridge to eat later? How long can I keep baby food in the fridge?

  • Breast-feeding and cereal?

My daughter is now 6 months old and has been given the go-ahead to eat rice cereal mixed with breast milk by the pediatrician. She seems to enjoy eating cereal provided that I feed her the cereal first and then breast-feed. It's almost as though she's full after breast-feeding and does not want to eat cereal after that. I was wondering how much cereal should I be feeding her at one sitting? I'm mixing her three tablespoons of cereal to two tablespoons of breast-milk. I know that she is still hungry after eating this amount since she's chomping on the spoon as I'm only introducing solids into her diet at this time. Is she supposed to be full after eating cereal alone? Am I supposed to finish her meal by breast-feeding (which is what I do now)? I know that she can usually drink about 6-7 ounces of breast milk.

  • Ameriware cookware/ bakeware?

I recently bought some Ameriware non-stick cookware from Costco. Like other non-stick cookware, I was told to never cook on high heat. These pots and pans are said to be oven-proof. Anyone know what is a safe (high) temperature to bake these at without wrecking them?

  • Introducing solids to my baby?

I have breast-fed my 5-month old baby since birth and it looks as though she might be interested in trying solid foods soon. I've read that cereals aren't recommended because of their immature digestive system. So, how do I go about starting solids? How much? How often? What about breast-milk? Should I be using a bottle?

  • Turning my baby's head?

My four-month old baby often turns her head to the right, especially when sleeping. I'm trying to get her to sleep on the other side of her head. I've tried putting a small firm pillow on the right side of her head so that she wouldn't sleep on that side, but she somehow manages to push the pillow away during the night. I've also changed the side of the crib she sleeps on, but she still looks to the right. Any suggestions?
