  • Would you fly across the country to pick up a free car?

A fairly recent acquaintence has a car in storage across the country. The car is worth $3,000 to $4,000. She doesn't want to pay for the storage any longer and just wants to get rid of the car. She has some photos and personal items in the car that she does want. I told her that if she gives me the car I'll go get it and bring her the stuff. Do you think it's a good idea?

  • My supervisor is a bi-polar tyrant... how do I survive and keep this job?

When I first got this job I was so excited to finally be working with a group of intelligent professionals. It turns out my supervisor is a scattered brained bi-polar tyrant who screams at me and blames me for not doing my job. The truth is I'm doing my job and then some. I receive compliments from the CFO and President quite often. I've even been yelled at because the CFO called me - "why did he call you, and why did you talk to him!!??" (what am I supposed to do, ignore his requests?) My supervisor speaks down to me like I'm a stupid dog. It's very demeaning, and belittling, and it really hurts.

I'm in a small town and there aren't many opportunities here. I really need this job. Do any of you have some tips on how to deal with this petulant tyrant. I'm keeping my head down and focusing on my work. I'm an outgoing, loving person. It's not my nature to be subdued and withdrawn, but this seems to be my only tactic for staying below her radar.

  • I want to have old sick cat put to sleep but my husband says No!?

My husband's cat is about 13 years old, has gone blind, has rotten teeth, a golf ball sized black lump on his side, hair falling out, and sores from scratching himself raw. I have been responsible for having teeth pulled, treating for fleas, worms, and infections. We have spent over $500 in taking care of this cat. For several months I have been making vet appointments for my husband to take this cat in, but he keeps "forgetting" to go. I have made another vet appointment for Tuesday and told my husband I am taking the cat in. I told my husband to be prepared to say goodbye to this cat because if the vet says the cat is in pain then I will have the cat put to sleep. I've read that one of the reasons a cat goes blind is because of pain. Out of respect and compassion for my husband I haven't stepped in, but I cannot stand or tolerate this pet suffering any longer. What can I say to my husband to help him come to terms with the fact that it is well past time for this cat to be put down?

  • My daughter was beat up by her boyfriend?

He full on punched her in the head and face at least five times!! The cops were called and he was taken to jail.

My daughter is done with him but is still very hurt... emotionally.

The incident was completely out of the blue. Before this they didn't fight or argue.

Can you help me with things to say to her that will help her get through this? She'll be graduating with a BS in Biology and is very smart, but the emotional hurt and questions of why he did this to her... that's what is so hard.
