It may be one of the biggest things holding us back, individually and as a species.

What happened in that pivotal moment that you decided that God didn't exist?

If you'd rather not discuss it, please just don't answer, rather than answer by saying how much it's none of my business to judge you and blah blah, because I'm not judging, I'm just curious as to how it happened for others.

I remember the day I decided I was an atheist - I was eleven, and pissed off with the state of the whole world and the state of my world and I couldn't accept that any so-called all-perfect God could allow such widespread suffering in all its torturous diversity.

I should also mention though that I can no longer call myself an atheist - relax, I'm not going to try to "convert" you, I follow no set dogma anyway.
