  • What the legal status of butterfly knives in NYC?

I know that blades longer than 4 inches are illegal in the city.

I know that People v Zuniga (NYS Supreme court, 2003) case classified butterfly knives as NOT gravity knives.

However how all of this looks in practice?

  • Are there any routers that let you divide bandwidth.?

Basically, I am a gamer, my family uses a shitty cheap (my guess is that it wasn't more than 40 dollars at the time) 2-3 year old router to split the signal between our computers. Every time when they start watching some crap online I start getting horrendous lag (ping spikes to 200-500 ms, i get packet loss and choke), tweaking the current router was just hopeless, QoS helped a bit but its still awful (i don't lag as much but i still get persistent packet choke)

Can anyone recommend me a good router (preferably under 100 dollars, but I am willing to go up to 150 if necessary) that will let me set bandwidth quotas for different computers on it (ie. set 1024kbps down and 96kbps up for them (their two laptops, trust me, thats more than they really need) and the remainder for my PC)?

  • How do I get my betta to eat a pea?

My betta has a constipation and I tried feeding him a cooked deshelled pea, however he doesn't acknowledge it as something he should eat (he also seems to be lethargic).

He is in a heated, filtrated fully cycled 10 gallon.

I fasted him for like 2 days now.

Should I like cover a bloodworm with the pea? Or should I just wait and he will clear up on his own?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Is it safe to add a new betta if my previous one died from dropsy?

Anyways, my previous (that I had for 1,5 year) betta seemed ill for quite some time (like over a month), it seemed to be simple constipation. Anyways he got bloated like a balloon starting from about a week, i tried giving him antibiotic (amoxicillin) however it did nothing. He passed away last night.

He shared a 10 gal heated and filtrated tank with 4 cory cats and 3 amano shrimp, all of which appear to be healthy, both groups scavenge around the gravel and are quite active. I did 50% water change to get rid of some of the antibiotic in the water and I will do one more change either at evening today or tomorrow.

    My question is:

Would it be safe to add a new betta either today or tomorrow?

  • How to seal a leak in a tank?

I will be getting a 46 bow front tank and the seller says that there is a slow leak in one of the seals of the tank (on the silicone). How do you fix it (step by step)?

  • 46 gal and 2 to be rescued stunned fish?

So anyways the situation is as follows. My mother is an idiot and in her infinite stupidity she ended up with 2 blood parrots and a Chinese algae eater in a 10 gal tank. Tried to convince her to either return the fish and get something suitable for the tank or get a bigger tank, of course she as always knew better (yes shes the kind of a person that makes you want slam their heads against something hard for hours). Finally I just gave up, the fish have been there for a year and one of the blood parrots passed away. The CAE is around 4 inches long and the BP is also around 4 inches long, I plan on moving them to the bigger tank. The CAE never turned vicious (chances are he/she got beaten into submission by the surviving parrot). I plan on relocating the CAE if it starts being nasty (either give it to a petstore, put an ad somewhere)

    Now my questions:

How big will these fish get once put in the bigger tank (I know they are stunned by now and their life spans have been shortened)?

Is it possible to add any other fish to the tank (if so what kinds)?

  • So what will republicans do about filibuster reform.?

On the first day of each congress the senate can change its rules by a simple majority vote (there is nothing in the constitution forcing senate to have a 3/5 majority, nothing about cloture, nothing at all).

So what do you think the republicans will do when the rules get changed and 41 votes (all they currently have) will not be enough to stale the senate and therefore the whole congress?

Little side note: This is perfectly fine, no session can bind following sessions of congress. And in fact the house of representatives votes on new rules every 2 years, while the senate generally chooses to continue with the old set (but can change them on the first day, so don't say "obama is wiping his *** with the constitution", spare me a laughter attack).

  • Help with choosing an algae eater.?

I have a fully cycled, planted 10 gallon tank housing a male betta and 4 cory cats. I have a bit of an algae problem in it, greenish brown algae which do come off from glass when you rub them (although I hate having my hands in the tank) and hair algae (which must have been introduced into the tank with some of the new plants). I am not sure what my pH is, I'll get a testing kit tomorrow (I know that snails cannot survive in acidic water).

Anyways I need an algae eater that:

Can live in 10 gallon tank (no plecos, no chinise algae eaters, no fish that simply grow to large).

    Does not bother live plants.

Eats brown-green algae that grows on the glass (this algae does not form into any strings, it just grows as film on the glass)

Eats hair algae (which I find to be exceptionally annoying)

Will not reproduce asexually or sexually in a community tank, or is very unlikely to do so.

It is fairly common to get in new york area.

I don't really care if its a fish, a snail or a group of shrimp.

I will have the pH reading by afternoon, right now its 4:30 am and the pet store is closed, for obvious reasons.
