  • So I started a job at a law firm a week ago, but I just landed the interview of my dreams?

I started a job at a law firm as a legal assistant about a week and a half ago not expecting to get any more offers because I have been searching for a job for three months now. Today I was offered a chance to interview at another law firm for social work consulting( it is a large criminal defense firm). They have a better benefits package and the pay will be more. The difference in the yearly wage is about 8,000. I believe that the hours would be the same. But I feel bad for starting a job a week ago. This interview was completely unexpected.

  • Anybody tell me where a decent online paralegal cert. program can be found?

I am a military spouse who is graduating from the University of West Florida with a BA in Children and Society. I recently took a job as a legal assistant. I want to expand my opportunities in this field by getting a certification in Paralegal Studies so that I can be prepared to sit for the NALA or state exam to become certified. I can use the MyCaa to cover the costs.

  • In a crochet pattern what does this mean?

I am working on pattern, but a little confused about one part. Here are the direrections:

Row 2: (Right side): Ch1, turn, sc in first sc, skip next two sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip next two sc, sc in next sc, repeat.

So what does it mean to do 5 dc in the next sc? Does this mean to do five in just that one stich?

  • I had an interview on Friday and the waiting is driving me nuts?

So I am three months away from graduating from college. I want to be a paralegal when I am done. I had an interview on Friday at noon with two women who were paralegals at this law firm. I was interviewing for the position of File Clerk. The woman who I was supposed to interview had an emergency, but rather than reschedule she had some one else conduct the interview for her. The people who interviewed me said that the lady would most likely want to interview me herself as well. I felt that the interview went great and that I am a great fit for the job. I have sent a thank you note to all who have interviewed me. I am VERY interested in this position. When should I call back to follow up and see when the best time for a second interview would be?

  • It has been a little over a week since my interview. Should I call back?

I had an interview last Wednesday for a student assistant position at the local courthouse. I really was crossing my fingers for this job. On Friday I faxed the person's office a thank-you note thanking her for the time spent interviewing me. Would it be alright if I called tomorrow to see if I got the job or not. It would have been a week and a half already. If I haven't gotten the job I want to be free to pursue other work-study jobs with my work-study award.

  • So I am interested in becoming a paralegal?

I am graduating in December with my BA in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a specialization in Children and Society. I have had a mixture of classes in education, social work, criminal justice, and legal studies. I have a 3.8 GPA and I do have administrative experience. I want to go to law school but not right away. I want to actually work as a paralegal. I absolutely love to research and write. I have heard that getting a certificate is a waste of time. So how would I go about getting my foot in the door to become a paralegal?

  • does this inspire you to want to save her?

I remember who she once was

Young and vibrant, my beautiful mother

Wasted away, nothing left of her

Pictures remind me that I am her daughter

She believes this is how she is to live

Round colors of the rainbow douse her fire

Her mind shuts out what I try to tell her

It has convinced her that I am a liar

I have never seen someone so pitiful

Where flesh is supposed to be there is only bone

This cannot be how she wants to live

Drifting into oblivion and dying alone

A clouded mind is what she believes that she needs

I cannot watch her do this to herself anymore

She believes angels are trying to call her home

Not that the ones who love her need her more

My love will never be able to save her

It will destroy me to be her hero

Nothing can change her will to die

There is no other choice but to let her go

  • Thinking of putting grad school on hold to pursue a certificate? (Military wives, please answer!)?

I am graduating with my Bachelor's in December and I have been considering for the past three months of going straight into graduate school. I want to pursue a master's degree in social work. Well I am a military wife and my husband is thinking of wanting to get out of the air force. We do not want to stay in the area that we are currently in, but starting a Master's degree would mean that we could not leave. My husband has a little bit more than a year left in. I found out that I am able to use the MyCAA account to pay for a certificate after I graduate with my Bachelor's. I am thinking of pursuing a Human Resources Certificate in the mean time while I wait for my husband to get out of the military. Is this a good idea?

  • How can I help out my brother-in-law who is a private in the Army who just found out he is a father?

My brother-in-law is a 20 year old with a mind set of a 14 year old boy. He just graduated from basic and training two weeks ago. He took a paternity test and found out that he is the father to a two month old boy. He has orders to take him to Korea in the beginning or middle of July. He is on leave at the moment but he is running out of time fast. He is in the Army but where he is on leave there is a Navy base around 30 min away. The mother is an absolute train wreck. She doesn't bathe the baby but every three or four days and the baby has horrible diaper rash. The poor baby has open blisters and she doesn't know how to properly change a diaper to keep the baby dry. Well my b-in-law cannot get the mother onto base now because she has no picture ID, no driver's license, or state ID card. She cannot get on base to set up child support or set the baby up as his dependent in the system. (I know alot of this stuff because I am a veteran and I am an air force wife.) He is running out of time fast and I have no idea what advice to give him. I wish there was a way to extend his orders. He found out just last week that this is his child and it is completely the wrong time. Not to mention that he is immature and is not taking the right steps to maximize the time that he has left before he has to report to his duty station! Can anyone give me some advice on what to tell him?!?

  • So if I want to someday re-enlist into the Army or some other branch?

So my question is hypothetical, but I just want to ask just in case I ever do want to reconsider re-enlistment. So about 2 and 1/2 years ago I was discharged from the army with a RE-3 re-enlistment code and the narrative reason states a personality disorder. I joined the Army right as I turned 17 and got out shortly after I turned 18. To make a long story short, I was young and stupid with my head far up my butt. I didn't like to be told what to do and I didn't believe them when they told me that if I didn't follow the rules then they would kick me out. Well it turns out that they were serious. I got diagnosed with a personality disorder and I was sent home. Good thing that I was able to keep my education benefits. I am now finishing up my bachelor's in a few months and fully plan on starting on my master's in January. I have been seeking treatment for depression and sought counseling for another issue involving my unresolved childhood issues with my parents. Both mental health professionals have told me that they do not believe that I have a personality disorder and they have documented their beliefs for me. I do take an anti-depressant for my own benefit but I can function without it, I just don't seem to get as much done. So with my getting my life back together, and finishing college, and having doctors establish that I do not have a personality disorder, what would my chances of going back into the military be? Obviously I wouldn't want to re-enlist again. I would want to commission because I will have my bachelor's and possibly my masters at the point of wanting to go back in.

  • Cylinder 1 misfire in 2000 pontiac sunfire?

I have been driving a 2000 pontiac sunfire for a little under 2 years now. When I first got the car it almost immediately started misfiring on cylinder 1 and only cylinder 1. It turned out to be a bad fuel injector. I have not had this problem again since October 2009. Last night the engine started running rough again, and it misfired on cylinder 1 again! No other cylinder has misfired. I lose power when I drive, and it randomly misfires as well. It has stalled out a couple times. It will run smooth for a couple minutes and then it will idle rough, and repeat this pattern. Also when I turn on the AC it will also cause it to run rough as well. My husband has already replaced the fuel filter, and the spark plugs and wires. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

  • I am currently a Children and Society major, but alot of jobs I want I have to be a certified LEO?

My degree program has me take alot of social work classes, psychology classes, and CJ classes. I am graduating this December with my BA. I am really excited about it. But more and more I see myself wanted to be a juvenile probation officer. Should I go to the law enforcement academy after I graduate? It will only take me two semesters to complete it. And will alot of my CJ classes count? I have take intro to american justice systems, police in a free society, and criminology, but I will be taking alot more in the next two semesters such as Alternative Punishments, and my minor is legal studies, so I have a good idea of the legal system as well. Would it be beneficial for me to go through the academy?

  • What do you think of this poem?

In this life I have grown

    Shaped by a turbulent past

And the roots I have sown

I have grown into my age

    Taken lessons from my mistakes

Learned to set my own stage

Have accepted all of the gives and takes

    Nothing given and everything earned

Forced to make it on my own

Taught myself to leave no stone unturned

    Never fearful of the unknown

Watched myself blossom like a flower

    Independence has been my gain

    Medicine to my soul empower

In this life I have grown

    Shaped by a turbulent past

And the roots I have sown

  • Question about financial aid and taxes?

Last year in 2010 I work for three months over the summer, and only made around 2200 for the entire year. The rest of my money came from my GI Bill stipend. I am a little confused. When I fill out my fasfa, do I have to include that information about that money? In reality, I only brought in a total of like 8,000 last year. But I also got back large refund of financial aid. I got back almost 4600 every semester, but this was a combination of grants, scholarships, and loans. So do I need to include those amounts as well? Do those large refunds count as my assets even thought I spent the money already because I used it to pay bills?
