I am a Mother of one son and three daughters and my family has grown to include a daughter-in-law, three sons in law and four grandchildren. A pensioner, I love to read anything and everything , listen to music of all kinds, especially jazz , R&B and rock and I try to practise practical philosophy, including meditation every day. I enjoy Y/A as it keeps me in touch with everyday people and life which I think is important now that I have retired.

7 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoI was feeling...?
depressed the other day so called Lifeline.
I was put through to a call centre in Pakistan.
They were very excited when I told them I was feeling suicidal and asked if I could drive a truck or an aeroplane?
However, they said I had to pay my own fare there. Do you think this is fair?
8 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoAre older women better at solving problems?
Here is an example:
After being married for many years, a guy took a look at his day and said: "years ago, we had a cheap flat, a cheap car, a sofa bed and watched a crappy little TV, but I got to sleep with a hot 25-year-old blonde.
Now, we have a nice house, nice car, big bed and a 55" plasma TV, but I'm sleeping with a 45-year-old woman. It seems to me that you are not holding up your side of things."
His wife was a very reasonable woman. She told him to go out and get a hot 25-year-old blonde, and she would make sure that he would again be living in a cheap flat, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed....
Aren't older women great. They really know how to solve mid life crises, don't you think?

13 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoDo you think that the Government's proposed plan to close small rural Post Offices is just a form of ageism?
Considering that a lot of the people who use the smaller rural post offices are the very elderly, who cannot use public transport (due to their infirmities) and do not have the internet, is it not these very people who need the local Post Office, often in the village shop where they buy their groceries?

4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoAny of you had a "Senior Moment" even though you are not old?
I had what my Mum calls a Senior Moment. Making tea for some friends who had popped in I carried the tray of tea through and noticed I had left the teapot in the kitchen. However, when I checked I found that I had put the bottle of milk on the tea tray and the pot of freshly made tea into the 'fridge. Anyone else out there done something as stupid?
8 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoHas anyone received details of a new computer virus, very destructive?
Apparently this email has as its subject matter "Invitiation" and has attachments that announces with pictures that Osama Bin Laden has been hanged. Well, if you get this email (which is being sent to mainly USA and Israel) DO NOT OPEN IT .
If you open this message you set off a virus which opens an Olympic torch that burns and utterly destroys your hard drive. CNN says that Microsoft call it the most destuctive virus ever . This email will come fom someone who has your email in their address book/contact list, so warn all your friends too.
7 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoDo you think that all these moisterizers on TV work?
Haven't you noticed that all the models are young with no wrinkles saying how wonderful this or that product is ? They never put older people with wrinkles on their ads because then everyone would know what a load of rubbish they are selling.
18 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoAny adults out there now the school holidays are here?
It would seem that only juveniles are out there at the moment asking stupid questions. Are there any serious people out there with proper questions?
13 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoAre we still, as Bob Dylan put it 40 years ago , "Blowin' in the Wind"?
In the 1960's my generation rebelled against the authoritorian and dictatorial governments, our lack of civil and human rights, we said 'make love, not war', we rebelled against women being considered second class citizens and strove to make a better world for everyone. But it seems to me that after all that time our governments are still lying to us, there is still racial and religious strife, terrorism and wars, dreadful poverty all over the world, and, whilst a few things have improved a little - so called equal pay for equal jobs, independence for many nations from their colonial rulers, the end of apartheid - generally speaking we are no further forward than in the 1960's. Or, am I being pessimistic ? What do the younger generation these days (I mean those in their very late teens, twenties, etc.) think ?

They talk about outside-bred Lincolnshire sausages and I just wondered what sort of pay a job breeding sausages would be worth - would breeding inside sausages earn more or less?
