  • How do people in the middle-east form protests so quick?

Whenever a news story breaks that angers the peoples of this or that middle eastern state, they always manage to form a rowdy and very angry mob very quickly. Where do they get all of the flags and dummies to use as effigies on such short notice? Also it seems we in the west get these stories late as whenever middle easterners are outraged we always seem to tune in mid protest, we never see them setting up. Also do American flags sell quite well in the middle east?

  • What kick-started the building of transatlantic ships in Europe?

Why were the Spanish and Italians convinced there was a continent over the sea's or were they just hoping? Did they get maps and information from the Scandinavians and also why was it around the 15th century before they developed boats that could travel over the atlantic.

  • Is it true what people are saying about Detroit?

Certain news sources are saying Detroit is terrible, stats like two hundred homes are burned down on some holiday called "Devils night" and many other crazy and frightening statistics. What's the real deal, I've never been there and I can't find an alternative opinion that says otherwise which always raises alarm bells with me.

  • Can someone explain this morality?

When I was in my teens I lived in a pretty rough area in the north of England. When I reminisce on my time there I'm struck by the bizarre morals of the chav delinquent youth there, I am a ginger so obviously I was a massive target for attacks, I got jumped all the time it was crazy they hated ginger people so much it was unreal. So they are bigoted right? Well no, these are multiracial gangs they hang around in, black and white kids making everyone's lives hell TOGETHER, so they aren't racist right? No! They hated the local Bengali community and always got into fights with their lads. Maybe they hate the Bengali's because of their homophobic Islamic views? NO! They too were homophobes... None of the gays I knew would be openly gay in that area, you got them in the city and they were open about it but in the town as far as they were concerned they were straight.

Later into my teens I ended up wheelchair bound, paralysed. I still went out and stuff but something had changed, it seemed I was no longer a target for abuse. These people who think it's OK to just attack someone for no real reason, but if they are in a wheelchair then that's when it becomes morally wrong... Anyway can someone let me know what they think about these odd morals and what they mean and why people hold this very strange worldview.

Each episode of Buffy is somewhere in the region of 40-50 minutes long, I don't want to be watching something for that long if it serves no major purpose to the overall plot of the story could someone hook me up with a list like I have described?

  • What do people mean when they say the UK has no culture or a dying culture?

I hear this a lot from people but I don't understand what they mean, from my perspective I see a thriving culture. We have...

    - Numerous languages and dialects (Manx, Cymraeg, Scots Gaelic, Cornish, English etc.)

    - History stretching back to antiquity (Roman invasion, settling of British Isles, British Empire etc.)

    - Rich tapestries of myths and monsters going back to the Iron Age (Mabinogion, Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, Canterbury tales... To name a few of thousands I would guess)

    - Thriving artistic communities in both contemporary and classical schools, fantastic composers, play writers, painters, musicians.

    - Our capital London is a center of fashion (not something I personally understand but everyone says it.)

    - Our own sect of Christianity, which to be honest wasn't even the first if you count the unique Saxon brand of Christianity with it's intriguingly unique churches and iconography.

Well I could go on for ages, it's just from where I'm standing I see a pretty healthy vibrant culture I don't see what all those critical of the existence of a UK culture are talking about. Your thoughts if you can spare the time?

  • Harry Potter question.?

In the Harry Potter universe it makes out that some wizards and witches are better than others. For example Dumbledore is supposed to be the most powerful wizard of all time. What do they mean by this? How can one wizard be more powerful than another? Do they know more spells or are they just born with more magical energy in their body or is it something to do with the wands?

  • How can Labour supporters justify their parties Keynesian policies?

I'm very critical of the government and people assume because of this I am in favor of Labours economic policy. This is very irksome as I ask a question about the UK economy and the answerer will say something along the lines of "The other party has all the solutions". So I've trawled the net for some UK economics data which refutes this assumption from the Labour support base that this country can support the growing welfare state, an overseas military presence and mass immigration. A common criticism is simply passing the buck to non-domicile million/billionaires, this really bothers me as the receipts from tax dodgers would amount to 69 billion pounds ( http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-st%E2%80%A6 ) ... Compare this to the national debt ( http://www.debtbombshell.com/ ) and we see that it's no way near enough to tackle the 1.1tn national debt or fund any of our egalitarian and military spending policies. Yes it would help but it wouldn't be the turning point and I do agree they need to cough up. But to base the entire recovery off of 69bn receipts from non-domiciles offset against a debt of 1.1tn seems weak.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/%E2%80%A6 - Article with visualizations of how the country spends more than it makes.

So to Labour supporters, where will this money come from? Borrowing? Tax hikes? Tell me how these policies can work while running a positive GDP not based on government spending and borrowing?

I do not subscribe to any ideology. The only reason I am singling out the Labour party is that I have yet to see a valid economic argument from a UK socialist with evidence to support the long term implementation of the Keynesian model. The Conservative party and Liberal Democrats seem to follow an almost identical economic policy with Labour so it could be construed as general criticism.

I had a recent answerer comment on how between 1949 and 1979 the GDP percentage of tax receipts was higher while socialist policies were being brought in. However even during these times spending and thus borrowing were greater than the GDP percentage of tax receipts, meaning these policies were paid for with borrowed money we have yet to pay off and thus unsustainable. Also to factor in, in those times Britain was larger as it was still and empire and recouped receipts from provinces. If you read this question and are under the illusion I support Thatchers decision to sell off the UK's national resources to foreigners you are wrong. I am not partisan, I don't know how many times I am going to have to say this, I just want to discuss the ECONOMICS.

  • Question for the Europhiles?

Many people in the UK support the trading concessions we get from being in the EU, they sure are great aren't they? Is it not however a bit much that European central law in which the UK has only 9% of the law making power supersedes our own, Europhiles why is this OK? What is wrong with people wanting to make laws on a nation by nation basis, what is wrong with national sovereignty? Why is it so impossible for the UK to trade with the EU much like Switzerland and Norway which are not a part of the EU but thriving none the less?

  • What is happening with the UK's national debt?

We seem to be making no efforts to pay it off, however Cameron and Osbourne brag about how they have cut the deficit by a third... This is really annoying as national debt has actually increased under the coalition. Now you and me, we know they aren't stupid. They had the best education money could buy and Cameron is the son of a stockbroker with a FIRST CLASS HONORS DEGREE FROM OXFORD he knows money very well. I can only see it as he is an enemy of the state deliberately undermining our economy (what little is left of it). What do you think about the national debt, the economy and the government agenda?

  • Where do I get the weapons for the Ravenwing Bikes?

I have bought two boxes of Ravenwing Bikes ("Ravenwing Bike Squad") because I wanted to form a "Ravenwing Attack Squadron". In the Dark Angels codex it says two models may take one of three weapons, Flamer, Meltagun and Plasmagun. When I opened up my boxes all I found was Assault Cannons and Heavy Bolters. Where do I get the extra weapons for the bikes or do I need to convert the weapons?

  • How could the UK support 250 - 300 thousand people per year coming in to the country?

Britain has a limited economy and a welfare state that has a social and government obligation to provide services for everyone in the country. To the people who believe the UK need set no cap on immigration, where do we get the money and capital to support all these people? Under our current system we have accrued a gargantuan national debt that can be only be paid off with great sacrifice, if our egalitarian attitudes don't change people will stop lending to the UK, once we lose our debt credibility surely?

So essentially what needs to be done so that Britain can provide infinite opportunities for the world and it's own people?

  • Immigration question.?

What numerical figure equals the amount of immigrants it takes in the UK, for the UK to be seen as non-racist.

Bearing in mind we are dealing an economy with limited resources, and a country with a welfare state that has a social obligation to take care of everyone and is running on a deficit. All I really need is the magic number.
