20 Year Friendship?
I value my alone time greatly.
I've recently moved into a new place and my neighbor, also happens to be my very good friend of 20 years. Problem being, she stops by every single night to whine about her day at work or her ex or whatever else might be going on in her life. FFS, if I wanted that, I'd have married a long time ago. At this stage I feel like her therapist more than her friend.
I sneak out of my place early over weekends to avoid asking her along wherever I'm off to, I've even booked into a B&B in the next town just for some peace and quiet.
How am I supposed to handle this without compromising the friendship?
She's been going through some crappy stuff in the last year, I don't want to add to that, but I honest to God, can not take another 6 months of dealing with her problems, I have my own problems begging for attention.
3 AnswersFriends3 years agoWith the Super 15 fast approaching....?
Who will be your 2 picks to win each of the conferences for the play-off spots?
I'm guessing the 2 NZ teams will probably be the Crusaders and either the Chiefs or the Hurricanes.
The 2 Aus teams - Waratahs and the Reds
The 2 SA teams - I think the Bulls' reign is over and the 2 coastal teams will get in Sharks and Stormers.
What are your opinions on the changed format?
5 AnswersRugby1 decade agoDo you think the South Africans' approach to these test matches has been over eager?
With the exception of the first test we have not really seen the South African batting line up perform, even with them having the home advantage. Looking back at the first tests this is what I've seen:
First Test: India batted at 3.52 runs to the over in the 1st innings and 3.58 in the second innings, while SA went at 4.76 runs to the over for their win. It looks good now, because they didn't loose their wickets quickly and it lead to the win.
Second test: India - 1st innings at 3.15 runs per over, 2nd innings at 3.51 runs per over. South Africa on the other hand went at 3.22 and 2.97. However you should note that the top 4 batsman played at a strike rate of well above 60 - Smith and Amla going at 97 and 100 respectively.
Do you think this shows a lack of patience with the South Africans, they've been going out and trying to score like its a one day game and as a result have been losing wickets at regular intervals, I'm not trying to take anything away from the Indian bowlers, they were very good, but most people would be called silly for pushing at wide deliveries as often as Smith does for instance.

2 AnswersCricket1 decade agoFirst time electric guitar buyer, need some advice.?
I'm an absolute newby whose never played guitar in my life, but I've always wanted to. I've done some reading (a lot of reading) and I've had people tell me that it will be better for me to get started on an accoustic guitar (in terms of $$ anyway). I'm really set on buying an electric guitar though and have been considering in particular the Ibanez SA260FM. I've read some reviews and most have been rather good, with the exception of some people complaining about it not staying in tune very long? Any advice? Would you agree that starting on accounstic is a better option? If not, is there anyone out there that can give me an experienced opinion on the Ibanez? Thank you in advance.
5 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoIf the Wheel of Time series were to become a movie - who would you cast as the lead characters?
Rand, Perrin, Mat, Moiraine, Egwene, Nynaeve, Lan, Elayne, Gawyn, Galad, Thom, Lanfear, Siuan or any other characters you can think of really.
I've always thought that a bit younger version of Gerard Butler would make an excellent Perrin and Ian Sommerhalder would be a decent Mat. Anne Hathaway would be good as either Nynaeve or Faile, and Donald Sutherland would be great as Thom. I'm having a bad time picking actresses for the Aes Sedai though - Cathy bates would make a good Verin, but that's pretty much all I've got.
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoNorth Coast of KZN to Kruger National Park via Swaziland.....?
I'm travelling to the Kruger National Park this weekend, but instead of going the traditional Nelspruit, Komatipoort route I'm going to cross the Swaziland border near Pongolo and head upwards on the MR8. It saves about 2hours traveling time.
My questions:
1. Has anyone here driven through Swaziland before? I would like to know in what condition the roads are in?
2. I've heard some horrific stories about traffic officials asking for bribes in Mozambique - has anyone had any similar experiences driving through Swaziland?
3. I'd appreciate any tips on how to get through the borderpost more quickly? What should I declare? Do I need any other documents other than my passport.
4. When leaving Swaziland I'll be approaching Komatipoort via the R571 - anyone know what the condition of this road is with regard to potholes?
Thanks - Any help is greatly appreciated.

3 AnswersSouth Africa1 decade agoWave Questions - please help!!?
1. A Jet skier is moving at 8.4 m/s in the direction in which the waves on a lake are moving. Each time he passes over a crest, he feels a bump. The bumping frequency is 1.2Hz and the crest are separated by 5.8m. What is the wave speed?
2. When an earthquake occurs, 2 types of sound waves are generated and travel through the earth. The Primary, or P, wave has a speed of about 8m/s and the secondary wave,S, has a speed of about 4.5m/s. A seismograph, located some distance away records the arrival of the P wave and then, 78s later, records the arrival of the S wave. Assuming that the waves travel in a straight line, how far is the seismograph from the earthquake???
1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoCocker Spaniel Questions?
I have a six month old male Cocker Spaniel (Porthos). He's very good natured towards me and my family, but takes a day or two to adjust to strangers - he growls at them and keeps his distance, he's even had a snap at someone who tried to pat him once. Is this normal behavior for Spaniels. I'm scared to bring him into contact with just anyone for fear that he might have a snap at them. He's had this shy and wary personality trade since we got him at 8 weeks and we figured he might grow out of it, but he hasn't. Is there anything I can do to that would make him feel more comfortable with other humans??
Also, in the last 2 weeks or so he's become very over protective of me, even towards my family (will start growling when they get too close) - I would appreciate it if anyone can suggest some ways or training techniques to get rid of this behavior.

7 AnswersSouth Africa1 decade agoIs too much work pressure a valid reason for quiting your job?
I've never considered myself a quitter, a month ago I told myself to just stick out the bad patch and things will get better, but my diary is filling up faster than I can keep up. My workload is basically pre scheduled until December this year, which means I'll be as busy and as pressured as the last 3 months until December.
I've received performance bonusses too compensate me for the extra effort, but I've reached the point where the money doesn't justify the effort anymore.

10 AnswersSouth Africa1 decade agoCan you help George???
Hi guys - here's an interesting problem for you.
George works for a company which requires that each employee enters an 5 digit access code to enter through the gate. George has forgotten his code, but left himself 5 clues to remind him. Here's the clues.....
1. The sum of the 3rd and 5th digit equals 14.
2. One added to the second digit is equal to the fourth digit.
3. The first digit is equal to twice the second digit less 1.
4. The sum of the second and third digit is equal to 10.
5. The sum of all the numbers is 30.
Can you help George figure out his access code?
6 AnswersSouth Africa1 decade agoFor all the ladies in this forum........................?
This has to be read, laughed at and passed on. There is not a woman
alive today who won't crack up over this!
I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week.
Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office to tell me
that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am.
I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was
already around 8:45 am.
The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time
to spare.
As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when
making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the
full effort.
So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was
sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in that area to
make sure I was at least presentable.
I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped
in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room.
