I have an old school (circa 2001) model Whirlpool top loading clothes washer. Last night it finished one load on normal cycle, but the next one didn't. Instead after loading, the washer would not agitate. Instead, after the water level topped off and a loud motor-like mechanical hum came from the washer and it did not agitate The same noise occurs when it attempts to spin.

I'm handy, but just need to know what might be the cause so I can get a part to fix it. Do you have any ideas?

My wife and I are building a new home in Texas and are curious what tax credits are available for energy efficient appliances, especially if we use tankless water heaters. We're hearing mixed information whether new homes are eligible or if they have to be existing homes.

What can I do to prevent an infestation? Is there cause for concern? How soon afterwards can I see eggs or nits and what do I look for?

I just acquired a puppy from my parents and she is using K9 Advantix. My other eight year old dog uses Heartguard. Does the K9 Advandix work to prevent heartworms, or should I put both of the dogs on Heartguard instead (both 11-20 lbs).

I am trying to install my Sirius XM radio and need to remove/loosen the rear clothing hooks to provide enough slack in the headline to push the wires through (from the cargo light opening). The hooks seem to be causing most of the tightness so by removing them, I should be able to route the wire with ease. Ten points to the best answer.

For the past couple weeks I have had this small rash that consists of red circles ranging from about 1-2mm in diameter, and for the most part not raised (just spots) and nothing else. On a few areas they itch and are raised and itch. They're all on my ankles all the way up to my thighs, but mostly reside on my lower legs. It almost looks like busted capillaries, but I'm not sure what they are. Some spots itch really bad, while other sites don't. It doesn't seem like ringworm by the way. I plan to visit a dermatologist sometime next week, but in the meantime can you help? Thanks

I own property in an acreage community in Brazoria County, Texas. Overnight, a broken into Coke machine was dumped on my property. I don't think the garbage company or the landfill will accept it since it has a compressor and refrigerant. What do I need to do to dispose of it? I'd appreciate if those from the area answer.

I currently have XM Radio car kits and a boombox that work with Delphi Skyfi1 & Skyfi2. I'm interested in a Skyfi3, but I am not sure it will work with my existing equipment. Does anyone know if I'll be able to use my existing kits, or will I need new ones to work with the newer Skyfy3 reciever.

For a wedding present (seven years ago) my wife and I received a piece of decorative lace with out last name. An overwatered plant stained about a fourth of it a nasty brown. What is the best way to restore it?

I live in a fairly new home (1 yr old). Until today, I've had no trouble with my electrical service, but I noticed today the lights would flutter/flicker very rapidly and intermittantly. It occures radomly, and instead of a typical brownout when a large load is drawn such as a large appliance, A/C, etc., it is a series of flashes that lasts about a second each time. I put a small digital volt meter in one of my plugs and watched the voltage while the lights flickered, and it stays at a constant 123 VAC.

It also occurs on multiple circuits and not isolated to just one (breaker). I flipped the breakers off on all nonessencial circuits, including my fridge, HVAC, water heater, etc. that might cause the problem, but the lights still flutter.

I'm thinking perhaps I have a bad ground or nuetral, but wouldn't that show in my voltage test? I considered contacting the electrical provider, but they were threatening to charge $35

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

My family is heading from Houston to New Jersey on 6/14/2008 through 6/21/2008. I'm willing to fly to any nearby airport for the cheapest flight. I have a maytag side by side refridgerator/freezer (MSD2556AE). The freezer works fine, but the fridge is only about 50 degrees. Can anyone offer any advice on what I need to do to fix it? I've been told it could be the defrost timer, but is there something else I need to check? I can't get a service technician for at least three days and need to fix it sooner than that.

My four year old dachshund was just diagnosed with degenerative disk disease. After taking a week's worth of prednisone her pain has subsided. However she still has no movement or control of her hind-end, and her bladder has to be expressed every several hours or she ends up leaking throughout the day.

The problem is that my wife and I both work full-time and have a three year old daughter on top of that who takes a lot of time. We feel guilty and selfish of even thinking of putting her down because she doesn't fit our schedule. I get up in the morning, express her bladder and head to work and if I don't make it home on-time, she'll mess all in her room and bed.

Does anyone have any thoughts on perhaps some sort of animal rescue posibilities?

My family is really torn on this and appreciate any guidance you can offer.

I have two dachshund females, Maedchen and Belle. Maedchen is the dame of Belle, and they are 6 and 4 years old respectively.

Belle since a puppy will take the dogs' blanket and cover her food, or put anything loose such as socks, etc. into her water or food bowl. I'll return home to find them without water because it's soaked into the towel (or the food completely covered).

Any information is greatly appreciated.

My Spam guard software dumps Outlook messages into a Spam folder (Not the integrated Junk E-mail folder). Since there is no way to change the program's defaults to dump spam into the Junk E-Mail folder, I would like to make the folder ("Spam") work the same way as the Junk E-Mail folder so that by right clicking the folder I can say "Empty Folder." As it stands now, I highlight the entire contents of the "Spam" folder and delete them, creating more keystrokes than I'd prefer. It also creates a concern where I may inadvertently delete the wrong folder.
