  • Will Powerpoint VBA code work in a web browser?

I'm having trouble exporting my presentation for use on the web. Powerpoint has since removed this functionality, but I found a line of code that allows me to save as an html file. It creates the file successfully but none of the 'macros' work when run in a browser. Are they supposed to? in my experience VB and HTML aren't meant to play well together... Any insights?

  • Do highschoolers still learn keyboarding?

When I was in high/middle school I took a keyboarding class and I was horrible. Very horrible. I was thinking about how much better I had become since the advent of social media and whatnot. It gets me thinking about the age of internet users today and if it is even necessary to teach 'keyboarding'. or is it taught earlier? If I were in middle school today I think I would be much more proficient than I was way back when.

So is this still a class or is it part of every class, and no longer a class in and of it's self (like computer apps is becoming with the free laptops in schools now)?

  • Will most firearms fire in a vacuum?

In the sci fi show Firefly they use a large gun to disable a net in the vacuum of space. The kink is that they needed air around the gun in order for it to fire so they put it in a space suit. I know all guns are different, and this, being a futuristic (and fictional) gun makes it a special case, but my albeit limited knowledge of firearms and physics makes me think there shouldnt be a problem. If a glock can still fire full of sand what harm could nothing do? My only thinking is that oxygen is required for a campfire or a match or something like that but it seems that the combustion in a shell is different. Maybe it isn't.

  • Is my tremor an essential tremor?

Years ago my physician told me I had a 'familial tremor'. I was just bored and decided to look it up and came upon this info on wikipedia; Essential tremor generally presents as a rhythmic tremor (4–12 Hz) that is present only when the affected muscle is exerting effort (in other words, it is not present at rest)

Mine seems to be quite the opposite. I can perform motion with accuracy (i am quite good at magic even) but my hands shake when I instead try to keep them still. Even stranger, the more I try to concentrate and stop the shaking the worse it gets.

It hasn't really affected my life but I understand it can get worse as you age. I just hope it's not parkinsons or something even worse. Any ideas? was I misdiagnosed?

  • Aren't Sukkah supposed to be barebones and meager?

I was reading a blog today and found a link about some sort of sukkah contest. [http://www.sukkahcity.com/] The designs are very beautiful and elegant, but they are also complex and extravagant. I was under the impression that the holiday of sukkot is about remembering the poor conditions the jews had to live in when they left egypt. I must confess that I am a gentile and I know very little about the subject, but aren't the sukkah (is the plural sukkah, or sukkahs?) supposed to be simple and basic? What do the leaders of the clergy (is that the right word? probably not) think about this?

  • Does US citizenship expire? does it have to be renewed?

I am considering taking up residence in another country that freely welcomes american naturalization. On the record they do not recognize dual citizenship, but as long as you don't 'exercise' your other citizenship, there are no penalties for it's possession alone. So, if I become a 'dual citizen' would I still be able to hop on a plane and head back to the US? would I need to renew a US passport from time to time or something? can that be done by mail? I just dont wanna get trapped or be stateless or something.

  • Do most wal*mart stores fill co2 canisters?

There is a hardware store near me that does it, but I'm gonna have to go into the city for balls anyway, and everything is always cheaper there.

  • when and which tribes of native americans started gambling?

Just thinking to myself about reparations and the like and something that I find ironic came to mind, and I would like to know the depth of the irony. As I understand it Native Americans placed less value on 'personal belongings' as westerners. This is a generalized statement, and im sure the philosophy of 'property' differs from tribe to tribe, but I was wondering if early native americans ever gambled on the games of chance (and skill) they, like every culture undoubtedly had. It seems like gambling goes against the views on property I mentioned earlier, which is why I am wondering about the history of all indian gambling, primarily those tribes that run the casinos now. I just think it would be interesting to find out that the nantucket pequots or whoever runs the casinos used to scorn gambling.

It also brings me to the question of wampum, since that also seems like property, or a representation of such. Is wampum real or is it some tourist thing?

Finally, I apologize if I come off racist. There are alot of stereotypes I mentioned, and part of this question is to find out if some of them are true. So what was the seventeenth century native american view on gambling?

  • DCOM is disabled, but LANguard scanner says it's still got my port open!?

    http://img64.imageshack.us/i/dcomscreencap.jpg/

    <a href='http://img64.imageshack.us/i/dcomscreencap.jpg/'%3... src='http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/2268/dcomscreenca... border='0' alt='Image Hosted by ImageShack.us'/></a><br/>

Ive been trying to find out whats behind some of these persistent connections Ive got. I nuked google analytics, but im having trouble stopping DCOM. I dont think it's actually using traffic, but i hear I dont need it, and despite being behind both a hardware and a software firewall, I still think disabling it would be a good idea. Thing is, I think I remember disabling it in the past, yet my network scanner doesn't believe it. What should I do and should I close any of those other ports?

  • Is it legal to have a viking funeral in Maine, and if not, where should I move before I die?

Burial is for pansies. I want them to dump a hundred gallons of gas on my boat and set me ablaze with a flaming arrow from the shore. This is of questionable legality. I'd assume that Scandinavian countries might have special permits or something because it is like a tradition. How difficult is it to wade through this type of beurocracy? What would be the cost? Do I need to found my own island?

  • Is the chain on the kusari gama traditionally attached near the blade or near the pommel?

I am making my own practice kusari gama out of plastic and wood, and I am wondering where the chain should be attached. I have seen pictures of both and I dont really know what I should do. I kind of favor attaching it to the pommel (is that term proprietary to swords?) both for ease of swinging the chain and I quite like a reverse grip with sickle type fighting. The only downside I can see to attaching it to the butt would be that It might not swing as well if I held the weight in hand and swung with the sickle at the end, but I do not plan on doing that anyway, as I understand the chain is for swinging and disarming, and the blade for finishing. On the other side, I would not want to train with one style, only to find out that I cannot procure a real kusari gama of the same style. I also wonder about chain length, as there seems to be no norm, because I have seen pictures with laughably short, and long chains. The chain I have is rather short, but I must work with what I have. So, any martial artists care to share some insight on how I should design my bo kusari gama?

  • How do I get in that hole at the end of the penguin slide in Mario 64 and what the heck is in there?

    http://img202.imageshack.us/i/tunnel.jpg/

I decided to dust off mario a few days ago and one of the first things I like to do is go to one of my favorite levels, cool cool mountain and race down the slide. At the end however I noticed a strange arrow pointing up. The room was just narrow enough to wall jump up to a ledge with an extra life. There is however, a large tunnel in the upper inside wall of this small cabin (the cabin at the end of the slide). I have uploaded pictures (I apologize for the quality, my television is small and crappy) and I knew the internet would hold the answer to my query. How do I get up there? Ive tried wall kicks at various angles and whatnot but still cannot get the desired height. Whats in there? Will my quest be wasted? Ive already got everything!? I really think I might be wasting my time... Shed some light on this quest internet, and ye shall be rewarded. Below lie pics

    http://img225.imageshack.us/i/endslide.jpg/

This is the end of the slide in cool cool mountain. Note the checkerboard finish line.

    http://img225.imageshack.us/i/pict0026i.jpg/

Here I am (or mario is) facing the ledge with the arrow. Note the checkerboard finish line for reference. It is a 90 degree right turn from the end. (warning blurry)

    http://img225.imageshack.us/i/onledge.jpg/

Here is mario up on the ledge, its even blurrier, and I couldnt seem to capture my wall kick mid air, but all you need to know is it is above the previous pic by about eight feet, but if you know the answer to my problem, you know that already.

    http://img202.imageshack.us/i/tunnel.jpg/

Here's the clearest pic, and for my money, the one that counts. Great view of that hole. What the hell is it? Where does it go? Am I the biggest nerd in the history of the world?

  • What sports star tried to make a car out of pot?

Just reading a cracked.com article that says:

'Lest you think we hold our athletes to a higher standard, Marvin Harrison is a future hall of fame wide receiver who never really made waves the way other pro athletes tend to--say, building a car out of pot.'

I thought that was the plot of one of the more boring cheech and chong movies. Did it actually happen? anyone wanna elaborate?

  • Solvents for the rubbery epoxy used to seal car windows?

Bad news, my monte carlo blew up this spring. the good news is one window was intact, and it is the sexy rear driver side oblong rectangle. I pryed it out before I sent it across the scales, and I now have a sweet rolling tray. Problem is there is a metal frame and tons of black rubber glue stuff that I am currently scraping off with a razor blade, which will take years... Ive also heard that its not good to get that stuff on your skin, so I have been doing it carefully, which means slowly. Is there any kind of solvent I can dip it into or brush on that might eat away at it. My first thoughts are alcohol, that citrus orange stuff, laquer thinner, or maybe some naptha. Thing is I dont have alot of cash to go buy an array of chemicals, and I also dont wanna end up mixing ammonia and bleach and killing myself, (nor do I wanna look like a terrorist or something). so if anyone in the business has any ideas, I would be grateful.

  • Are there still Boers in Africa?

I was just watching a more than questionable documentary; Africa Addio, which is more of a pseudo-racist, mondo exploitation than a serious chronicle. Nevertheless, it documents the end of colonialism in Africa, and shows the whites leaving and giving up all their possessions. Among them were the Boers, and the vibrant footage of them heading back across the vast continent the same way they came, by wagon. Were the Boers forced to leave? I was under the impression that there were still many Boers in Africa. We still buy from DeBeers right? Whos got the skinny?

  • How can I join subtitles (.srt) and avi in order to convert to mp4?

So, I gave in and let apple dominate me. I have an ipod. I am also sad to announce that it is quite impressive. Without reguard, I have a problem. It works great when I load up my english shows (I converted frisky dingo to mp4 and it I couldnt be happier) but I wanna put a foriegn film up there, which poses a problem. You see, I dont speak portugese. I have a .srt, and I can watch it with the subtitles on my pc just fine but I can't just convert the avi to mp4 and have the subs work. Or so I assume. Is there any way to 'cement' the subs on the video so I can get them on my ipod? Even if you have no idea about ipod, if I can paste the subs onto the avi I could handle it from there.
