Electrical problem with washer?
A load of laundry was getting clean in my (very old) washing machine, I came downstairs to check on it and noticed a strange strong smell like something was burning but didn't see any smoke anywhere. I opened the washing machine and although it had shut itself off (as if it was done) it was not done. It was half-full of water and by the looks of the water, the clothes hadn't been rinced yet. Anyway, I unplugged the machine from the electrical outlet and plugged in a lamp instead to check if there was power in the outlet and sure enough there is. Meanwhile I went and checked the fuse box and the fuse on the hot water heater was blown. That heater is only six months old and the circuit for it had been re-wired six months ago. What could be the problem? I called the electrician and he'll be here in a few hours but in the meantime I'm concerned about that smell and anxious to hear some ideas of what the problem might be. Ideas please???
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat's the best router brand (and model) to use with a cable internet connection?
We just switched ISP to Videotron (high speed internet, 7.5 Mbps download speed) and it works great on our desktop but now I'd like to connect with my laptop also and wondering what's the best (fastest) router brand/model I could buy here in Quebec (e.g. at Best Buy, Future Shop or Microbytes). I need to buy a new router because we lost the box (and password!) on the D-Link router we had before when we has DSL service from Bell. (We tried resetting it by pressing the little reset button in the back for over 30 seconds but it didn't work.. or we just didn't do it properly... I'm not tech-savy at all, as I'm sure you've figured out.. No big loss on that router though, we used to have to restart it very often back with the DSL so I don't think it was good anyhow.)
Your advice to answer my original question would be much appreciated it. Thank you in advance!
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoI can't pump gas! My fuel tank overflows even though it's nearly empty. Help!?
Does anyone know what might be wrong when you try and pump gas, even though the tank is nearly empty, gasoline starts gushing back out of the tank after only seconds of pumping.. It's like the human equivalent of acid-reflux.. Does anyone know what might be wrong and how expensive a repair would be?
6 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoAre there any car mechanics / repair shops that are open on weekends in Montreal?
My engine has been making an unusual vibrating noise lately and also when I turn the key in the ignition it seems that I have to hold it longer than normal for the car to start. I also think it's time for an oil change. My car is a 2006 Nissan Sentra.
1 AnswerMontreal1 decade agoVANCOUVER WEDDING locations ideas please! .. not expensive?
My fiance and I want to marry in BC this August. What are some picturesque/scenic locations to have the ceremony that might be available on short notice, ideally in Vancouver area or within 2hr drive? It will be a very small and relatively brief ceremony (8-12 guests max), we are on a really really low budget?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (and 10 points for best answer!)

my fiance's study permit expires this coming autumn, he has previously applied for CSQ (currently awaiting date for French interview but it's taking really long) in order to get his PR. He has a British university degree in aerospace engineering. He's an Indian citizen. What's the best way to speed up the process? Any advice, insights would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
