I'm old and I'm a broad and I may have a little wisdom to share and a whole lot to learn.

  • Why do we have to self-validate our person belief system by trying to tell others what they should believe?

Whether religious, atheist, or spiritual, it seems like we have a need to self-validate by insisting that anyone who believes differently must be wrong. Then to add insult to injury we go a step further by trying to re-educate them. To me it appears to be the act of someone very insecure in their own belief. What do you think?

  • What are the lifestyle consequence to having your gall bladder removed?

Last month I had my gallbladder removed because of gallstones and so far have been doing very well but I'm concerned about how the body compensates for not having a gall bladder? Am I more susceptible to high cholesterol? Pancreatitis? Osteoporisis? etc... Is it important that I take certain vitamin supplements?

I'm really interested in medical facts as well as personal experiences.

  • How do you motivate yourself?

I recently turned 50, recently recovered from major depressive disorder & anxiety, have lived on my own for the past ten years and haven't had to work for even longer. Due to the years in depression I have few friends. With that background in mind I need to figure out how to motivate myself to do things just because they should be done or do the things I want to do. It seems like the days just run into each other and while I'll think about things I want/need to do before I know it, a month's gone by and I've accomplished nothing. I have created my own business over this past year and have done the work to attract clients - but still in the stage of clients being few and far between. Any input is appreciated whether it's a suggestion for me or your experience with self motivation.

  • How would you have handled this?

I was waiting in line at the convenice store with an older black man being the only person ahead of me. The clerk (a very sweet girl from India) was on the phone trying to complete the call. The older black man turned to me and said something about them coming here and thinking they owned the place. In my shock, I thought I hadn't heard him right but then he nudged me, pointed to the girl and said it again.

I wanted to say no more than my Irish Grandmother when she got here, or the Chinese guy at the restaurant down the street or the black girl who's always on the phone at the store across the street.

Instead I bit my lip and said no more so than anyone else and left it at that.

So... How would you have handled this?

  • Please help me identify a rock song from the 80's?

A song's been running through my head that I really liked in the early 80's. It was by a band with (i think) 3 names in it's name (something like James Michael Murphy Band) but I'm not sure it was those names and the song was about the band returning from being on the road for a long time. The only words I can remember in the song are "I'm coming home". This song is driving me crazy. I searched for it on Amazon and kept coming up with Ozzy based on the words "I'm coming home" and I'm certain thats not it. Please Help!!!

  • Why do people turn to perfect strangers on line for answers to serious questions?

I'm referring to those questions best answered by a doctor or vet or are relating to facts best answered by trained professionals, even if that professional is a stock broker or CPA. This seems crazy to me. Do they really follow the advice given?
