  • What is this crap? Why do I keep getting redirected to a Yahoo! search page...?

What is this crap? Why do I keep getting redirected to a Yahoo! search page telling me they can't find secure.livechatinc.com/licence/3168672/script_data.js?t=14450417?

I've cleared my cache, I've restarted. Almost every site I visit takes me here. And Yahoo! isn't even my default browser.

  • Should I return or keep my iPad mini?

I finally break down and get a mini, then I hear the iPad mini 2 is expected to be announced NEXT WEEK. My 14 day return window takes me through tomorrow.

What can I expect? Any chance for a price concession? I imagine the 2 will be more expensive or at least the same price, right? Should I return and wait for the 2? Return, rebuy and "buy" another two weeks to decide?

Just keep and save the hassle?

  • Hypotonia or late bloomer? 1 year old doesn't pull to standing?

My daughter just turned 1 on June 29. She's been sitting strong for many months, and scooting on her butt in a very small area for more than a month. She reaches and stretches for things she wants over forward movement to get something. But she has extended her scooting range in recent weeks, and finally began to crawl--albiet very slowly--at 1 year and 5 days. Yesterday, she crossed two rooms in a couple minutes. She is not setting records, but she is definitely progressing.

She does not pull to standing, but she will stand holding on to something, or with assistance of some kind. She has pulled to kneeling. But she doesn't roll much--hardly at all really. It's her lack of rolling that's been a half-concern of mine for many months. She'll go from belly to back while sleeping on occasion, but often she will fuss on her back or her belly until someone literally turns her over. I've mentioned the lack of rolling to her pediatrician, but she wasn't too concerned because she's been a strong sitter and stands flat footed. She also lifts her head/neck appropriately--it's not saggy. She said we'd revisit when she was 1.

Yesterday was her 1 year well visit, and the pediatrician thinks it is time she be evaluated by a different professional (PT? OT? not sure which). So I resorted to Googling some things, discovered the term hypotonia and continued researching that. I think a big part of me feels like she just needs a bit more time. But now I wonder if she does also need a bit more work that certain physical therapy could give her (or things we should be doing with her more often to encourage her progression).

The W-sitting trait that DD exhibits makes me wonder if DD is at least a little hypotonic. But some Google searching seems to indicate that it's still considered normal if she learns to walk by 18 months.

At this point, I'm waiting on the referral from the pediatrician for further professional evaluation. But I can't help but wonder what others' experiences have been like. Anyone have any insight?

  • Should I cancel a store credit card I no longer use?

My husband and I purchased a TV by signing up for a store credit card that had a 0% finance offer. We paid off the TV (never a penny in interest) but don't really have use for the card any longer. Should we cancel it or hang on to it? What's better for our credit (which, really, is very good in the first place--both of us with scores over 800). I guess I don't want to ruin that. Thanks!

  • Would refinancing to a 15 year mortgage be silly when we have 17.9 years left?

We have the opportunity to refinance for a 15 year mortgage at a rate that's 2 full points less than our interest rate for our current loan. It would be a zero-point deal. Our credit scores are "very strong." We have 17 years 9 months left on our current mortgage. We have no plans to move. I feel like it's a no-brainer here....we'd pay off our home two plus years sooner, save that money on interest, and all while keeping our payment at just about the same. (Looks like it might end up nine bucks cheaper.)

Are there any oversights I am missing? Our jobs have not changed in 7 years. We might be more cash poor with our assets compared to our last refi, but we aren't asking for cash back, and we have no other outstanding debt. (We do pay by credit card for everything and pay our bills in full every month.) We have 401ks and other modest investments. So our cash poor-ness is the only "issue" I can think of.

We haven't had an appraisal in a while, but I'm confident it won't come in in a way where we'd have to pay PMI.

Anything else I'm not considering? Thanks!!

  • Help. I just ate some black licorice, and I just read you aren't supposed to when you are breastfeeding.?

As I was munching on some black licorice, I remembered that it was something I wasn't supposed to eat when I was pregnant. So I looked it up to see if it was safe to eat while breastfeeding, and apparently it's not, but unfortunately I'd already eaten about 3 oz. worth. Should I pump and dump? Or is the amount consumed in one night not a big deal (but longer term consumption should be avoided).

My baby is 9 months old.

  • Why do people pretend to like you, or be nice to you, but don't really want to be friends?

It's nice when people can be nice, right? But why would someone be nice to you yet show in their actions they have no interest in being friends? I guess it's nicer than people being mean to you. But I just can't seem to comprehend why someone would be nice, but only on a very surfacey level.

  • Save for a car or 6 months salary?

We are trying to build up a savings. We pay our bills in full every month. But we will need at least one, probably two new cars soon too. Six months salary would pay for a very nice new-to-us car. Should we save to pay cash for the car or save to get 6 months salary stashed away for just in case?

  • Supplementing with formula after 7 months??? Help!?

My frozen stash is near depleted. I've increased pumping sessions and pump for 20-25 min when I do. But expressing less and less. I'm drinking water and nursing support tea with fenugreek. But I'm not getting enough milk in 4 pumping sessions to fill 3 5oz bottles for my 7 mo old. She hasn't had a drop of formula yet, but I'm not sure what else I can do at this point. Any quick fixes for a working mom who has to send her daughter to daycare with bottles?

  • Breast milk is irritating baby's bowels?

My 6 month old has had frequent green mucusy poopy diapers for just about a week. They started dark spinach green and now are more of a light pea green. She's also had really bad diaper rash. Took her to the doctor today, and the doctor thinks maybe it's a little bit of a bug, (no fever) and that my breast milk is probably irritating her bowels and preventing the diaper rash from healing. She suggested formula or pedialyte for a few days, so the rash can heal. HUH? I'm not going to NOT breastfeed my baby, but what can I give her to eat that might help? Pedialyte? I don't get how that will help. She's not dehydrated. Ideas?

  • How do I fix hyperlinks on a webpage *before* they 404? (site search related?)?

My site has a sister site that I do not run. But I link to the sister site. Sister site is taking down a series of pages. I want to remove my site's hyperlinks to those pages before the change, so I'm not linking to something that eventually 404s. For example, I have a hyperlink that is sistersite.blah.com/various-string-going-to-different-places.

I tried a site search for link:sistersite.blah.com and link:sistersite.blah.com/ but that didn't pull up a complete list of results.

Does anyone know how I can quickly find pages on my site with these complex(?) hyperlinks that are scheduled to go bust in a couple of weeks?

  • Is this a good approach for telling a child we have to put the cat down?

My daughter is 5. She knows our cat is old and is dying. She knows mommy will be sad when he dies.

Today, we are having him put to sleep. She's going to stay with our neighbor when we take him to the vet.

Do we take him to the vet and come home and tell her he died?

Or do you tell her to say good bye...and let her know the vet is going to help him die? (I wouldn't say "put to sleep" so she doesn't freak out about sleeping.)

This is happening in 3 hours. What do I do?

  • What does it mean when you're (cat's) no longer producing red blood cells?

My cat is about 18 years old. (I adopted him nearly 10 years ago when he was about 8.) Never mind a long list of ailments (a renal condition, blindness, hypertension--all of which is being treated, well except the blindness). He's had bouts of anemia, and most recently he's been on Darbepoetin Alfa injections and they have not worked. His RBC is 1. Before the injections, it was 4. He is dying.

The vet doesn't think he has weeks. I'm torn with what to do.

  • What's the statute of limitations on being entitled to a job after maternity leave?

Five years ago, I returned from a 12 week maternity leave only to learn that, within weeks of my return, my position was eliminated. Recently, I took a 9-week maternity leave, say employer. I shortened my leave a little bit out of fear my current position would be eliminated again. Unfortunately, my job was eliminated again. (Yet the temp hired to cover for me is still working there.) I was given a job in another department, get this, covering someone else's maternity leave! So it's a temporary position!!

When she returns to work, will I no longer be entitled to a comparable position under FMLA? I know my employer had to reinstate me when I returned from maternity leave (and can do so in any comparable position they see fit) but does temporary work count? When the temporary job is complete, can they wash their hands of having to give me any kind of work at all? Is a temporary job considered a comparable position?

  • 3 month old baby and milk supply question. Did I just screw it up?

I returned to work when baby was 9 weeks old. Today she is just 13 weeks old. I have been pumping twice a day at work, generally around 10 and 2 but it often slips to 11 and 3.... except for today, when I was so busy, I pumped at 10:10 ONLY. I felt full at the end of the day, and I was able to nurse baby from one breast instead of the typical two during that dinner time feeding. I immediately went to pump the other side, but I noticed I felt less full than I did two hours earlier, when I was leaving work. Turns out I ended up with only 2 ounces pumped. That's about what I would have expected at the 2 PM session. Did I just screw up my supply? I'm a bit panicked, because I screwed up my supply with my first child and all the fenugreek in the world could not correct it. I'd like to get to a year, as much as I hate pumping. :( Help!!

  • What is the "fear" with a breast pump used by more than one person?

I had a hard time finding new tubing for my Medela double electric pump, but finally got it at the hospital. Babies R Us said something about there being a fear of cross contamination. Huh? First, there's me using a pump for two kids. The parts that touch me are entirely new for my second child.

Then there's used pumps on eBay. If all new parts are purchased, where's the fear of contamination? And from what? The pump tubing never has any milk in it...only the bottles and parts that are connected to them during pumping. So what's the deal?

  • Tips for excess breast milk?

I have milk from July that I may not use by October. The donation process seems complex. One site wants a 300 oz minimum! I don't have that much, but I also hate to waste what I've got. Suggestions on how to use? Baby is just two months old so I'm reluctant to reduce pumping just yet.

  • Would you give a 5 year medicine for a 102 fever?

She isn't complaining, nothing is bothering her. She just has a fever. Should I let the fever do its job and just make sure it doesn't go higher, or should I give her medicine?
