  • My cat is not using her litterbox?

I have an 8 year old cat who is using the litterbox inconsistently. In the past she was pretty consistent, but would sometimes poop outside if it wasn't up to her cleanliness standards. However, now she has started peeing on my sofa and pooping on the kitchen floor. Today I caught her as she was about to go on my carpet; I startled her, then took her to the litterbox, which she used just fine. I have two other cats, and my fear is that one of them is terrorizing her while she tries to use the box. (I do have multiple boxes). Today when I took her to the box, one of the other cats came into the room and Kitty immediately began growling and it seemed like she peed even faster so she could get away from that cat. I have an appointment on Tuesday with the vet to eliminate a UTI (and I'm probably going to ask for some anti-anxiety meds for her), but until then I was considering confining her to the upstairs with food and her own litterbox and letting the other two downstairs. That way she won't be scared or nervous or anxious. Is this a bad idea? Do you have any other ideas how to handle this situation, especially if it turns out that there are no medical issues and it is all down to cat politics?

  • What can cause sharp pain in left shoulder blade?

Since last night I've had pain right under my left shoulder blade. It gets worse when I breathe deeply or do certain things with that arm. Any idea what might be causing this? I have an appointment with my doctor in the morning, just in case. I did have bronchitis in late October that resolved easily with steroids and antibiotics, and I'm wondering if it might be related to that. Any ideas? Oh, I'm a 30 year old female with no health issues.

  • What can cause the corner of my cat's lip to swell and crack?

My cat has been treated twice in the past for rodent ulcers (most recently in June of this year). She was treated with a cortisone injection and antibiotics because her lip was infected. Those ulcers were on her lips, at the front of her mouth. Now she has a crack in the corner of her lip, and it looks a little swollen and red. It is not affecting her ability to eat and she is her usual self. I don't know if she cut herself or if this is a rodent ulcer in a different area of her mouth. I mademher a vet appt. but any advice in the meantime?

  • Can anyone identify these shrubs?

    http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg233/bad185/?a...

I know that it isn't the greatest picture of them, but it is the best I have at the moment (if you click on the picture it enlarges). I recently bought the house and I want to learn more about the shrubs, which have clearly grown out of control!

  • Does anyone else's cat act crazy when they come out of the litterbox?

Lately my cat comes out of the litterbox with a crazed look in her eyes and runs around like a lunatic. She gets down on her haunches, looks around with those crazy eyes, and then runs all through the house. The funny thing is, it's only after she comes out of the litterbox. The rest of the time she is very sweet and laid-back and snuggly. Any ideas?

  • Question about my period...?

I am 27 years old and take the Low Ogestrel birth control pill on a continuous basis to skip periods (I do have a period 4 times per year). Another benefit of this pill is that you have shorter, lighter periods. My period usually comes on Wednesday and lasts 3-4 days. However, this time my period came last Monday, lasted until Saturday, and then today it's back (very light). I started a new pill pack yesterday, but I was wondering if anyone else had this experience with the pill or specifically when taking the pill continuously?

  • How can I make my cat stop eating random things?

My cat is driving me crazy!!! She loves to eat stuff that she is not supposed to. I can't leave any plastic bags lying around because she will eat them (not just lick them, actually pull off parts of plastic and chew them). She also loves to chew on carpeting. For example, I have a toilet seat cover and there is a bald ring around the edge from where she has chewed it away. I recently had her at the vet and I brought this up to him, but he said her blood work looked fine and that I should just keep watching her and stop her from eating inappropriate things. I have two other cats and they don't do anything like this! Does anyone else have a cat like this? How can I get her to stop?

  • Can someone help me with this plant?

Ok, so I got this little hens and chicks plant and this is what it now looks like: http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg233/bad185/?a... I have never grown one of these so I have no idea if this is normal? Is there anything I should do at this point or just let it go on its natural progression?

  • Can I substitute a flavored apple sauce for oil in brownies?

Ok so I am craving brownies and happen to have a box mix on hand. I want to use it up but have NO OIL!!! I have subbed applesauce before but I only have pomegranate-flavored applesauce on hand. • Has anyone tried Weight Watchers Online?

I was thinking about trying the Weight Watchers Online program, but I'm wondering if it works. What I mean is... is it better to go to the meetings or is the online program just as effective? Does anyone have any experience with either (preferably both) of the programs? Would you recommend one over the other?

  • Can my plants recover?

I repotted some plants yesterday, but then forgot to bring them in when the sun went down. The plants are a moon valley pilea, jade plant, love and tangles (sedum), bear's claw (succulent), and another sedum (forget the name). The temperature was about 39 degrees last night and my plants are NOT looking good. What can I do to make sure that they don't die, or is it too late for them??

  • When do I plant tomato seeds in Zone 5?

I have never grown tomatoes from seed and want to try this year. The seeds I will be planting are heirloom seeds of several varieties. I'm a novice gardener, I planted a veggie garden last year but started from plants so it was a little different. Do I need to start the seeds inside, or can I wait and start them outside? Either way, when is the best time for me to start the seeds?

  • I just noticed that my cat has a snaggletooth!?

So I was just hanging out with my cat and I was checking out her teeth... and I noticed that she's got a snaggletooth!! The little tiny teeth between the fangs, one of them is out of line (it is much farther ahead of the rest). It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all, she is scarfing down food as I type this. Also, her gums are very pink and healthy looking, no redness or anything by the snaggletooth. Do you think I should be worried or do you think she just has a tooth that is out of line? Should I just have the vet check it when I take her in for her checkup?

  • Is this a stupid idea re: auto waterer?

I recently got an automatic waterer for my cats. I had one in the past but I got rid of it because they were fascinated with looking at themselves and kept knocking it over! This one is a different design, and while they haven't knocked it over yet they are pushing it around with their heads and spilling water everywhere. Do you think I could use a non-toxic paint and paint it black, so they couldn't see themselves in it? Would that work?

  • Does anyone know the Avon eye cream that is supposed to be as good as Clinique's All About Eyes?

I remember seeing an Avon mag when this product first came out, and they claimed that it was equal to Clinique's All About Eyes. I'm curious and want to check it out but don't know what the Avon product is called... any ideas?

  • Help! My makeup no longer matches my skin.?

Ok, so I recently bought a new bottle of liquid makeup (Clinique Dewy Smooth, love it!). However, now that I've pretty much lost all color--it's winter and I live in Pennsylvania unfortunately---my makeup no longer matches my skin. Is there anything I can do to make the makeup look more natural? I was thinking of mixing it with my moisturizer, which will make it more sheer and hopefully more natural looking?? Does anyone have any ideas, beyond buying new makeup? I will if I have to, but it is like $22 a bottle and the bottle is pretty much brand new!!
