  • What's wrong with my HDTV?

I've had a 50+ inch Samsung tv for about 3 months. Time Warner Cable is my service provider. All devices are connected via HDMI, including cable. Recently, I've noticed that every single recorded show on my DVR plays back choppy (both video and audio) at random times. It is super annoying and makes watching recorded shows difficult. This is the only time (playing back recorded shows) that the choppiness happens. I do not experience choppy audio/video during normal viewing, through my dvd player, or my playstation.

I've pretty much narrowed the problem to the DVR box. I've tested all possible connections and cables. No problems there. Anybody else have similar problems? Is this a common problem with Time Warner Cable boxes? I'd rather not go back to Time Warner because I've had problems with their boxes before and I don't want to go through the back-and-forth game of finding a decent cable box. Any suggestions to fix this problem?

  • How do I solve this 2007 Microsoft Excel macro problem?

I download large data sets of transactions (dates and dollar amounts) to analyze. The problem with the downloaded data is that each cell includes extra spacing around the data [so instead of a typical date of "xx/xx/xxxx" the cell actually reads "__xx/xx/xxx__"]. The downloaded data (with extra spaces) makes a cell that looks like a date unrecognizable to Excel as a date (same applies to dollar amounts). This poses quite a few problems for the analysis, especially when you want to use more advanced programming features in Excel. The good news is that the spacing issues are consistent. So, a macro should solve the problem, right? I developed a macro to record my keystrokes within a cell to format the data properly, but the macro has a major problem because it not only records the keystrokes but it also records the data in the cell. When the macro is run on another cell it formats properly but rewrites with new data from the cell that was used to record the macro. How do I fix this macro problem?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Need Help w/ Excel Issue!?

I have a problem with Microsoft Excel 2003. Attached is a link to a picture to see the problem (No worries, the image is from imageshack - a trusted hosting service). My problem, as can be seen, is that when multiple cells are selected, I cannot tell which cells I have selected. This isn't a problem in the case when I'm selecting a chunk of cells because there is a black thick box surrounding the chunk. But when I select multiple random cells, I cannot tell which are selected. As you can see in the image, I know that a cell is selected in columns A-D and rows 5, 7, 10, 15, 17 but I can't be certain which cells are selected. This is a hassle. Typically, when multiple cells are selected, all other cells with the exception of the current cell are tinted/highlighted blue. But, for some reason my laptop does not show this.

I'm stumped. I live in excel and I just can't figure it out.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • I'm Stumped. Anybody seen this before?

Ok. I was playing chess on yahoo and then my computer went crazy. I got a weird script error and the next thing I know, my windows toolbar (down near the start menu) is double in size. A picture can be seen at this link (its safe, imageshack is a image hosting service):

    http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/930/foookedtool...

I understand that the toolbar can be customized and moved, but it wont allow me to change the location (top of window, left/right side). When I scroll the mouse to the top part of the toolbar I get the double (up/down) arrow. If I move it down the toolbar collapses and is hidden. If I move it up, the toolbar will climb about halfway up the screen. I cannot get the toolbar back to the default location.

The toolbar is not locked. I have tried every key on the keyboard to make sure nothing is stuck. I've tried everything I can think of. Nothing seems to work.

    Anybody have any ideas?

  • Need Advice. Moving & Long Distance Travel w/ Kitty!?

I'm looking for some advice or maybe somebody to share their experience with me. My wife and I have a kitten named Paws. She is 4 years old. We are moving in 5 days from a 3000 sq ft home to a 600 sq ft apartment in a downtown metropolitan area. Our kitty is an indoor kitty and loves the space in our house to run and play.

Will the small space be really disappointing to her?

The second issue deals with the trip. We are taking 1 car and a huge rental truck to move our furniture. It will take us atleast 2 full days to travel. Our kitty hates car rides. She has only been in the car to go to the vet. We've taken her on a couple car rides lately to try to get her used to the car, but she has the saddest meow that will not let up, her little paws sweat, and she is very tense. I'm really worried about how she will maintain her daily functions (eating, going to the bathroom, etc) during the trip.

Does anybody have any suggestions or advice? I want her to feel safe on this trip.

  • How do I find a Good Investing Job away from New York City?

I'm a recent honors graduate from an accredited business school. I had a good gpa, graduated top of my class in Finance, and have a decent gmat score. My wife and I are moving to Austin, Texas so she can pursue a PhD at UT in psych. My problem is finding a good job away from NYC. I would love to pursue a career on Wall Street, but the PhD is blocking me for a few years. My internship opportunities as an undergrad were incredibly weak and geared toward sales. My passion is in trading (as was my primary focus as an undergrad), but I have yet to find a job that will lead me to a path as a trader. I get tons of phone calls about sales jobs. They can hire anybody for sales. I have friends with sales jobs for banks that have degrees in chemistry and health science. I do not want a sales job. I need something that is challenging, fast paced, intellectually stimulating, and exciting. How do I find a trading job away from NYC and in the area I desire?
