  • Can anyone recommend a good job hunting website for entry level programming jobs?

    I'm looking for a good job hunting site for entry level programming jobs, but I'm not having a lot of luck. On most of them, like hotjobs, there will be 2 or 3 real jobs hidden among 100s of work at home scams. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Question about personal history statements in the hiring process?

    I'm filling out these extremely detailed personal history statements for the hiring process of a few police departments in my area which are testing, and I have a few questions.

    First, before filling this thing out, I felt like a pretty decent, law abiding citizen. Now, I see a 15 page summary of every mistake I've ever made, and I'm feeling like I should be on the FBI's top 10 list. Is this normal, or do they really find enough candidates with spotless backgrounds? By way of explanation, I have no criminal record, but I smoked little pot when I was younger (been about 7 years), and I had some credit problems around the same time (probably not a coincidence!). I thought I was like most people, did some dumb things in my early to mid twenties, then got my act together. Now I'm not so sure.

    Second, how much detail are they really expecting? For instance, I'm 33 years old now, and I just don't remember the name of the manager I had when I worked the drive thru at Taco Bueno 18 years ago. How should I fill in this missing information?

    I appreciate any advice. Especially from police officers. Thanks in advance.

  • Question about using a Speedlite with an umbrella?

    I have a couple of speedlites, Canon 580 EX II, that I want to use with umbrellas. This is my first attempt at anything like this, and I'm not sure what type of umbrella to buy. Should I go with white or silver? with or without the removable black backing? Also, what size? Monolights aren't in the budget, but 2 umbrellas and some light stands are, so any advice would be appreciated. I plan to use them for portrait shots around 1 to 3 people.

  • What do you think of this photo?

    If you think it's crap, that's fine, but please include some reasons why it's crap and maybe some suggestions for improvement would be nice too! When I took this I was really trying to think about the composition and apply the rule of thirds, leading lines, and balance. I don't know if I did a decent job of it or not. Any suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • What is the effect of different sensor sizes?

    I see cameras advertised as full frame sensors. I understand that there is a difference in sizes and that most digital cameras have smaller than full frame sensors and that this causes an issue with focal magnification. What I don't understand is why it matters? What's the real benefit of a full frame sensor? Does it only really have an impact for people using wide angle lenses? Thanks in advance.

  • Physics problem - vectors?

    I'm stumped and I'm hoping someone can explain this one to me. Thanks in advance.

    A displacement vector A is added to displacement vector B=6i-8j (in unit meters). The resultant displacement is in the positive x direction and has a magnitude equal to that of vector A. What is the magnitude of vector A in meters?

    - I'm guessing the key to this is that the Y component of vector A equals -Y component of vector B, but I can't make the next leap. Anyhelp is appreciated.

  • Composition question?

    I've seen terms like 'leading lines' and 'rule of thirds' in relation to composition. What do these terms mean? Can you recommend any good resources for learning more about composition? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Electrical Engineering Question?

    I'm a mechanical engineering student, and I have to take one semester of EE. It's only the second day of class, and I'm already stumped. I think I may be screwed! Here is the question I'm stumped on. I'd appreciate any help. Please don't leave out any steps in solving this problem. If you have to add 2+2, please show it. Thanks!

    Problem:

    Calculate the total charge (in microcoulombs) entering an element at its upper terminal. The current of the terminals of the element is:

    i = 0, t<0

    i=20e^(-5000t) A , t>=0

  • How do I enforce a judgement in Texas? Can I report the judgement on their credit?

    I recently won a judgement for $5000 in small claims court over a contract dispute. How can I go about enforcing this judgement? What are my remedies if they don't pay? Can I file against their credit? Place a lien on property?

  • Flight Medic Question?

    I've been a paramedic for a while now, and I'm seriously thinking about trying to get a position as a flight medic, but I don't know much about how to actually get the position. Is any additional education required prior to interviewing and what kind of salary can I expect? Also, do flight medics work a 24/48 schedule? Also, how much experience is generally required for the position? Finally, is it worth bridging to RN to be a flight nurse as opposed to a flight medic? Please don't copy a wikipedia page as an answer, and if you don't have experience in these matters, please do not answer. I need facts not guesses. Thanks.

  • EKG Question?

    What is the aVR lead used for? As a medic I've been told again and again that this lead doesn't have any real bearing on what I do. Can anyone give me some information on the aVR lead?

  • What is the final common pathway of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS)?

    I have a test question I am having difficulty finding an answer for. The question is what is the final common pathway of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The main bit of information I am looking for in this question is what is meant by "final common pathway". I can probably figure out the rest of the answer myself if someone can tell me what is meant by "final common pathway". Thanks.
