  • Best way to list resume refs no longer at original jobs?

I have been updating my resume and found a lot of the people I would list as the contact person for that reference have also moved on. I've tracked them all down and can now list them again, but how? Should I:

    1. list them on the resume as the contact person for that company with the new contact information? -- or

    2. list the job on the resume with the original contact information, plus the new contact information for the person I worked with?

In those old jobs, either I don't know any of the managers -- or in one case, the only manager still there is the reason I quit the job! But I don't want it to look shady, like I'm manufacturing references and trying to keep them from calling the original companies.

  • Tips for long visit/relocation to Portland?

I live in Fort Luaderdale, but I'm thinking about trying Portland -- a lot of people have said I might be happy there. But here are somethings I'd like to know:

    1. What are rents like? I pay $800/month for a 1 bedroom. How does Portland or surrounding areas compare?

    2. I work in a restaurant. Can you make decent money as a server/bartender there? Enough to get started, at least?

    3. How bad is winter?

    4. What's the cultural scene like? I like a bohemian thing, coffee houses, open mic, bookstores, etc. But I'm in my 30s, don't want it to be all kids. Nothing against kids, but I want to be around people my own age in an environment I like.

If I think of more, I'll ask another .... if you think of more, feel free to add!

    Thanks for your time...

  • Developing applications for Windows Mobile for non-programmers....?

I want to write an application that will run on Windows Mobile. I have zero programming experience. The program could probably be written in something non-platform specific like Java ... it will simply gather information from a database and display it on the Today screen. But I just want to create one app, I'm not really looking to get into programming or spend $$$$ on something like Visual Studio. Any ideas on a good app for dooing this? I'd be happiest with some sort of WYSIWYG format along the lines of Dreamweaver where you can use templates and tweak if you need to, but this is not necessary.

  • Astrologers: Thoughts on an empty house with gotchas...?

I'm looking at a chart with no planets in the sixth house, with some interesting other details: On this chart, the sixth house is in Gemini. Both Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury. The scout planet for this chart is Mercury. I'm having a toss-up on how to think about this. I'm tempted to go with the idea that because the house itself is empty, but it is doubly ruled by the scout planet (in Gemini, no less), this house will be very stongly influenced by the position and aspects of Mercury at a given moment. What do you think? Any other good takes?
