In the Quran, is there any verses that says Muslims must be obedient and hard working especially...?
...in their studies. I have some Muslim students that are really behaving badly. Thanks.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoBelievers or non-believers?
With all the hurling and exchanges of indifferences, insults, stubborness, I'm sure deep down we all enjoy the presence of each other and are good efriends. If we could get together I'm sure we'll have a whale of a time. Don't you agree?
44 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy did Jesus help the unbeliever ? Does he still help them today?
In Luke 7:11-17, Jesus out of compassion simply raises a widows dead son. The widow didn't even ask him. Nor does it mentions that she has faith in Jesus.
I believe that Jesus still does and continue to do so because of his love for all of us. Whats your opinion?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan you prove Christianity or Muslim faith (or any other religion) thru science & logic to be true/false?
Someone described himself as "I m a Muslim. I m a logical liberal person who believes in facts. I believe in searching for the right path and that is what my religion Islam teaches me. I donot blindly follow any thing unless someone proves it to me."
It doesn't make sense. If someone doesn't follow blindly or believes in facts, then that means that person can prove that God exists. If any of you have the real facts that God exists please post your answers here. And don't quote from the Quran/Bible cos that is not acceptable fact (scientifically and logically speaking). If you cannot prove existence of God you cannot claim that the Quran comes from God right?
Religions are FAITHS (believing in the unseen and unknown) they cannot be disproved or proven by science or human logic.
24 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWomen under Islam....(follow-up)?
In my last question, you would find that taking things as is from either the Quran or the Bible has an entirely different meaning. I have seen too many questions like that in Yahoo!Answers. The problem is also that people who answer does not know the true meaning behind it and detrimentally goes along with that line of thinking.
In all religions like Christianity, Islam or Buddhism the common teaching is to love one another and to live in harmony and peace with each other. It is just the 'bad eggs' within the religion claiming to be acting from religious teaching which are causing ill-will to the main-stream believers. People must learn to know how to differentiate this.
The only difference between the religions is our salvation. There is no point arguing or focussing on this. Unltimately it is your destiny with God and if you pray to God I am sure he will show you the way to him.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWomen under Islam...?
Does any woman out there find this insulting?
10. A husband has sex with his wife, as a plow goes into a dirt field.
The Quran in Sura (Chapter) 2:223 says:
Your women are your fields, so go into your fields whichever way you like . . . . (MAS Abdel Haleem, The Qur’an, Oxford UP, 2004)
9. Husbands are a degree above their wives.
The Quran in Sura 2:228 says:
. . . Wives have the same rights as the husbands have on them in accordance with the generally known principles. Of course, men are a degree above them in status . . . (Sayyid Abul A’La Maududi, The Meaning of the Qur’an, vol. 1, p. 165)
8. A male gets a double share of the inheritance over that of a female.
The Quran in Sura 4:11 says:
The share of the male shall be twice that of a female . . . . (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 311)
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTo Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoist, Atheists...what if?
Christianity believes your salvation is through accepting Jesus as your God and Saviour.
(1) If this is true and you have not accepted Jesus as God and Saviour then you will be damned for eternity. So quite severe to put it mildly.
(2) What is the consequence of believing and accepting Jesus in yr religion/non-religion if it turned out not to be true? Does this consequence outweigh (1)?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow does Muslims reach out to Kafirs, Infidels, Unbelievers?
If Islam is the true religion, then how does Muslims spread the news to the Kafirs, Infidels and unbelievers? I haven't really seen any activity from the Muslim community which suggest this. Unless you are born into a Muslim family then you will know of the religion otherwise you are really condemned. Is there any part of the Quran which commands Muslims to tell of the message in the Quran?
Most of what I know is very contrary, that you should 'fight' against the Kafirs, Infidels and Unbelievers.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSalvation is by Grace only...?
In my follow up to - 'How does Muslims get into Heaven?'. Most have replied as from the Quran by faith and good deeds.
But some have emailed me the following:
Taken from Abu Huraira, Rasulullah once said, “Come near and try to be righteous! Know that every single one among you will not be saved because of his good deeds.” His friends asked, “O Rasulullah, not even you?” Rasulullah said, “Not even me, unless God grants me with His Grace and blessing.”
(Hadith Shohih Moslem, by K.H. Adib Basri Mustafa, pg. 819, 76)
Taken from Jabir, he said, “I once heard the prophet (Mohammed) SAW had once said,”There is none among you would enter heaven because of his good deeds and saved from hell, same as for me, unless through grace from God.”” (HSM. by K.H. Adib Basri Mustafa, pg. 819, 77)
Christianity offers the same as in Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoEven The Prophet Muhammed is not sure of his salvation...?
In The Hadith Bukhari volume 5 No 266, The Prophet said ,"By Allah, even if I am an Apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me."
If this is true, then how can Muslims be sure of their salvation and go into heaven even you they do perform good deeds?
Is it true that present Muslims pray at least 7 times a day for Muhammed's salvation?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen a Muslim converts to Christianity are they considered a Kafir?
Noticed that when a Muslim converts to Christianity, he/she are outcasted by the Muslim community and in some country it may even warrant a death penalty. Where in the Quran does it tell you that these actions are justified.
Since Jesus was a muslim according to the Quran, a muslim who converts to Christianity is still a muslim? As muslim means 'to Surrender unto God' which both muslims and christians do.
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoThe Quran places more importance on Isa (Jesus) than Muhammed?
No one in the Quran died and was resurrected by God, only verses saying that God will raise the dead. Other religions too say something to that effect through reincarnation.
In the Quran, Jesus is a prophet but is known as 'the word of God'. Jesus did not die or was kill or was crucified. But God raised him without him having to die. Which means that God loved Jesus very much that he didn't allow him to die. So God has a very high regard for Jesus.
In the second coming, it is Jesus who comes down and defeats the Evil one. So God places a deep trust in Jesus for doing such a task and Jesus has Gods power.
To get into Heaven the Quran teaches that u must have faith and do good deeds. It doesn't tell u how much good deeds that you must do nor does it guarantee that u get into Heaven. So the path to Heaven is not clear.
God has a high regard of Jesus but Islam places a higher regard on Muhammed? There is a chptr dedicated to Mary mother of Jesus but no book about Muhammed's mother.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIsa (Jesus) means 'Word of God' in Islam?
If Isa means the 'Word of God' in Islam how come there are no teachings of his in the Quran? As name suggests he IS the word of God so shouldn't have someone from Muslim world go around with him to record what he has to say?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow does Muslims get into Heaven?
How does a Muslim guarantee his/her place in heaven? Where in the Quran does it tell you how to get into heaven?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIslam believes in Resurrection?
I was told that Isa (Jesus) did not die and was not killed. If this is the case then where is the evidence in the Quran/Koran that resurrection exist?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhere in the Quran/Koran that mentions the 2nd coming of Isa (Jesus)?
I was also told that Isa (Jesus) will defeat Satan and judge his people. Then doesn't it make you wonder that...
1. Jesus is the one who comes down from Heaven and not the prophets or Moses or Abraham.
2. Jesus has the power to defeat Satan.
3. Jesus has the authority to judge people.
If Jesus is just a prophet, do you think he has the power and authority?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHave you heard of SKM charity (Singapore) for the elderly?
Was approached by a guy on the MRT today saying he was representing a SKM charity for the elderly. I couldn't find this listed on government website. Anyway he asked for donation and because I haven't even heard of the charity and I support other charities so I didn't give any. He then tried to joke but his comment was inappropriate and ended up insulting me. I don't think I will give to this charity if it was real just because of this guy.
2 AnswersCommunity Service1 decade agoExpensive Junk food at Botanic Gardens Taman Serasi Food Court?
Took family out to have dinner at the new food court at the new Botanic Gardens reception. Nice spanking new reception shame about the food. We tried the 'Chinese Mixed Veg', 'Nasi Padang' and 'Banana Leaf'. Average cost was $4.50 per meal. Food was cold and to put it mildly crap especially the Chinese Mixed Veg. You'll expect better quality for the price and being at Botanic Gardens which is a tourist spot. Unless it just caters for tourist?!! Anyone tried the food there?
