4 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoWhy not decriminalize marijuana posession?
There is an ballot measure in my state's upcoming election to do this, and there seems to be much ranting and little rationality on the subject. So, what good and what harm could come from this?
18 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDoes registering sex offenders actually work to prevent recidivism?
And for the 10 points, can you point me to a reputable website or two with the statistics to back it up, whatever the answer is?

14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAre TV shows like Cops and the police chase shows just 'copaganda'?
They don't accurately reflect the way things really are, not in the way that police actually act, nor in the almost universal succeses these shows portray, and certainly not in the noble and courageous way that the police are portrayed. Is it that we enjoy them because we recognize stories about brave, gentle and intelligent police as essentially fiction? Or is there a more sinister aspect to this, that by repeatedly portraying what is demonstrably inaccurate as reality, we are to become acclimated to the presence of increasingly more numerous and intrusive police activity?

What specificallly do you see in it that the world would be better off without it? Just about every accusation I read is true, to some degree, but I tend to believe these are features, not bugs.

5 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoOK to use 2 separate ID's?
Yes, you can certainly set up multiple Yahoo ID's, we see it every day. What I would like is the opinion of other users, and maybe the powers that be, is it acceptable and or ethical to set up multiple ID's in Y!A if they were never used to point -game or answer each other's questions?
4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoSay you live in the US and want to eat a dog...?
Maybe it's cultural, maybe you're culinarily adventurous, maybe you just need the food, whatever. Is it more moral for an animal shelter to destroy and dispose of a dog than to provide it to someone who wanted to eat it? I have little doubt that supply would far outweigh demand, but for those few... What do you think? Why?
13 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoBusiness forfeiture for hiring illegals?
Since the flood of illegal immigrants into this country is driven by employment, doesn't it make sense to remove that as an incentive? How about if you get caught knowingly hiring an illegal alien for the second time, you lose your business? I'd think that if you own 1000 acres in Napa, or the largest construction company in Texas, or a hotel in Manhattan, this would be a strong incentive. We'll give the person who rats you out a cut, to reduce enforcement expenses. An illegal maid or gardener? Lose your house. Hide them in your church? Ok, keep the church, but you lose your tax-exempt status forever. Does anyone think the flood will continue when we can say honestly, there's nothing for you here? Oh, for a first conviction? Just a real detailed description of what you stand to lose if you don't mend your ways....
3 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoWhy do police in the U.S carry a gun?
Nearly every police officer in America currently carries a Taser, pepper spray, handcuffs, and a radio. Many, if not most, also wear body armor. So, why do they still carry firearms? What harm to the public could occur by moving to a system like the U.K. where firearms are only issued if a situation warrants it? 'Accidental' shootings, while not exactly rampant, still occur often enough to give one pause. And while information on this is curiously difficult to find, it appears most people who fire guns at police are not doing so to kill them, but to escape. With so many other options, does allowing your average policeman to carry a lethal weapon really serve the public interest anymore? Whether you agree or not, can you give me links to websites that support your viewpoint?
24 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoChristian new moon ceremony?
Christians use to have services during the time of the new moon (yes they did, check your Bible concordanance). So, when did this fall out of favor, why, and are there any sects that carry on this hallowed tradition?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHey Bartender! What was your least favorite drink to make?
And why? Mine has to be Courvoisier and coke. In only three words, a customer indicates a total lack of sophistication, difficulty in cutting them off, and the almost certain absence of a tip.
