I'm sorry but I can only answer email requests for help with small animals for food lists. Back on 9/5/09, my family suffered the devestating loss of all but one of the animals in our rescue due to a fire that damaged our home. Only one cat was rescued and survived the fire. The fire remains a mystery to this day, no one was home at the time and by the time we all found out, it was too late to save any others. The fire damage to our home wasn't too severe, but the water and smoke damage was and it is still in the process of being replaced. The sight of what we found has been too much for us to ever start up another rescue. We ended up loosing 14 of 15 pets, some took their last breath in our hands. My oldest son has since moved back in the home and continues to work on things. My other three children have also moved on with their lives as well as myself. My oldest son has rescued a few kittens, but will raise them as his pets.

  • How do you fight your husband's family when they are part of the law?????

I have been married for over 11 years and one day I came home to my child and husband gone. I was denied all contact with my child by his family and him for over 10 weeks. We've been to court on a protective order I got on him and even with a drug record, jail time for contributing to the deliquency to a minor and a prior record for assult on a minor through child protective services he still got temperory custody. How? His family consists of a realative in adult protective services, a police chief, a judge and friends who are judges, cops, and orther child protective workers. The main superviser in charge of this with child protective services also lied via phone in court about the condition of my home even though she had mailed me a letter stating the home was safe. Even the main judge hearing the case is against me and is possible friends with my husband's family. Additional to come.

  • Need help on where to look for....?

Need ideas on where to look for my daughters king snake. While we were out my daughter's lavender albino king snake got out. The lid was even weighted down so we can't figure how she did it. We have many cages of mice, hamsters, gerbils, and rats due to also running a rescue. I know most do show up if there's a food source (all the small animals), but she was just fed a few days ago. We do plan on keeping check on all the cages and tanks for her also. She was fed either warmed frozen fuzzy mice or ones that died in the mice litters (I know they go for the warmest areas), but my house has AC and it's kept about 75 degrees. We had heat lamps on her. We are worried about her dehydrating too. My daughter's 17 and very upset over it. We have cats and dog's too, but the larger dogs will be staying out for now. Unless this storm gets worse.

What are some of the most likely hiding places to look in. Right now we're not thinking to well and truely need help. We've barely had her a year.

  • Did you hear aboout the rat poison found in 2 of 3 samples of can food tested?

The toxin was identified as aminopterin, which is used to kill rats in some countries, state Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker said. "Any amount of this product is too much in food," Hooker said.

  • I have a pair of breeding mice, what is the best way to....?

I have a pair of breeding mice, not mated yet, wanted to find out what the best way to euthenize the pups at about 5 days old. We've going to feed the pups to my daughters snake. Buying them at the pet store is running 6-8$ a week and I've looked into bulk buying, but the overall cost was too much with shipping to balance out. I pay .87-$1.29 per fuzzy and the sites I visited for bulk fuzzies averaged .49ea sold in 100 counts only plus nearly $65 shipping. The cheapest way is to raise our own. I want only the most humain way to do this. Live feeding is out for us, our vet advised against it with all the other small animals we have as pets. If this works, we're considering breeding rats for the same purpose.

  • What is the cause of my green goldfish tank water?

I have a 10 gallon tank with 3 small goldfish in it and the water is green. I've cleaned it, put a larger filter (20-30 gal.) in the tank and declorinated it each time I add more water. Next day the tank is a green color. I've had other goldfish over the years and their tanks were never green. I've even tries algae treatments, nothing is working. I have another 2 1/2 gallon tank with tropical fish (3) and it is clear. I use the same water for both tanks which is the strange thing. Any ideas or suggestions?

  • Any info on Cushing's disease in a hamster?

Our Campbell's Russiian dwarf hamster was just diagnosed last night by the vet with Cushing's. We may have a few more with it too. The vet however had very little information in her books about it and I want to learn more. I've been researching on the web, but only found one article pertaining to hamsters, the rest were on dogs. I need to hear from anyone who's hamster had this or has this now. The vet never suggested putting them down, she did start the hamsters on treatments with medicine every 2 weeks. I'd give the name of medicine, but her writting is unreadable. I know it shortens their life, mine were born in Dec. '05 and their life expectency is 1-2 yrs. The other thing I know is this is hereditary.

  • My daughter has a beagle with allergies.....? This is for you Beagle owners.?

And they've tried nearly everything to stop the itching and scratching. They've done allergy shot-last 2-4 days. Tried hydrocortisdone gels, creams and sprays, same deal. They give her monthly flea treatments and regular baths with shampoo by Adams. Anyone have any valid ideas on something that may work?

  • What would you have done...?

What would you have don if your sons and a neighbor wittnessed a dog being abandoned? This just happened to us yesterday My neighbors dog was barking at a younger woman walking a Pomeranian mix up our road, she got to the house across the road from us and a truck pulled beside her, the driver was heard saying to leave the dog. She took it off the leash, got in and thet drove off. My 19 yr old ran in and quickly said what happened. I said go get it (it was in the 20's out). We took it in and since I can't keep it I'm trying to find a responsible new owner for him. I have many other animals including a large and a mediun dog. They all are getting along, but I can't handle a third dog. I did call Animal Control and reported it, but since no one thought to get the tag, nothing can be done. However my oldest son has an excellent memory for vehicles, he thought he reconized it. We live in a smaller toen and sooner or later he'll see the truck again.

One of them has started having siezures and will stop breathing. She's brought back each time. The vet said to give it some honey. They said the puppy is having trouble swallowing the milk, it keeps coming back up some. She needs real advise. The vet hasn't returned their call as of yet. ASAP

  • Would like to know if....?

I would like know if any one else out their has a crazy animal house like me. We have a wolf mix and a spaniel mix that like to run in our goat and sheep pen, with them. No, none go after the other. We have cockatiels (2), cats (14), hamsters (20 lost one yesterday), a rabbit, a kingnake, and an iguana, all of which do interact with supervision with each at times. The rabbit plays with the cats only when spaniel mix is out, wolf mix is scared of it and hides. One of the cats will play with the hamster in their play yard and washes them. My oldest female cat washes them too, but only if I hold them. My one cat lets the birds walk on her and she just lays there. The snake has his favorite cats too. The iguana (40") plays with our youngest a 5 month old kitten we recently rescued from a dumpster. Does anyone else have animals that can interact like mine do?

  • Anyone else have a cat that comes to you and meows when it need to go out?

I have 13 cats and 1 kitten of which four are indoor only, the rest are both. Several of my cats come to you and meow when they need out. We used to have a cat door, but had to take it out when our dogs went through it and broke it.. The dogs are 40 and 70 pounds. If only my dogs let me know like they do. I'm just curious to see how many of us are experiencing this.
