  • Credit Application for Auto Loan?

OK, so I was filling out an application online for an auto loan. It asked for my bank account number. Is this normal? I have seen where it asks for you bank and what kind of account you have, but not the number. The dealer lists several different lenders that they work with and I assume this is a generic application that they submit. Has anyone else come across this, is it normal?

  • Home-owner's Insurance Question?

Okay, maybe a stupid question, but I need help here to settle an argument. I say that home owner's insurance does NOT cover an air conditioner if it breaks, unless it is tied to a "disaster event" i.e. lightening strike, fire, etc..

Husband says that you can have it in your policy that insurance company will pay to repair or replace the air conditioner if it just breaks down, as long as it is within the manufacturer's expiration date.

  • Daughter starting kindergarten is she ready? Help!?

Ok, my daughter is five, and will be six in December. Academically, I know that she is more than ready. She is reading simple words, writes and draws well etc.. On top of this, she really wants to go to school.

What is freaking my husband and I out, is that she has not been away from us ever. We both work at home, so she has been with us constantly. She has never been to daycare, preschool, had a sitter, or even stayed with family. I am worried that she will not know what to do if we are not there.

When we see checklists online, they all say that social readiness is more important than what they know academically.

She can dress herself, but she can not tie her shoes yet. She has played with other children, but my husband or I have always been there in the background. She does play well with others, but this is always for short periods of time, and her kindergarten is all day.

I had planned to put her in Mother's Day out or something like that this summer, but summer flew by.

I would really like to hear from other parents. Especially those who might have had a similar situation. How did your child do? How was the school? Did they encourage you to come up and be at the school, or tell you to stay away? I know her school encourages parents to volunteer, but I am worried that she is going to be there, scared and upset, and they won't tell me. I do think that once she is used to going, she will do well, and love it. I just want to make sure that she is ready.

I asked to hear from parents, but if any kindergarten teachers would like to share their own experience. I would be interested in hearing it.

Thanks in advance everyone for your answers! They will be greatly appreciated!

  • Any news about the Free Gaza 21?

Just wondering if anyone has heard any new news about the Free Gaza activists?

  • Do you think that we will see this in the news here?

The Free Gaza boats are trying to get to Gaza to deliver toys, clothes, medical supplies, and cement. It seems that Israel has a problem with that. You obviously know how I feel about this. I would like to hear what others think. Other than babble about "terrorists" as we all know that is a waste. What are they going to do that is bad with cement?

  • Something seems to be eating the stem of my cantaloupe plant?

I have one little cantaloupe plant that I planted (it was in a peat pot so I just peeled off the bottom and stuck it in the ground). It seems to be flourishing, but I noticed yesterday that it looked like something had been eating on the base of the vine close to the ground.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Any chemical free ideas to protect it?

    Thank you!

  • Israeli settlements in the West Bank?

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu keeps expressing concerns about Hamas, and naming them as the reason why he will not consider a two state solution.

The West Bank is not controlled by Hamas. Why does Israel continue to expand and create new settlements in the West Bank?

Why not pull out of the West Bank completely and say that is a start to an independent Palestinian country?

Does the Israeli government just not realize how bad this makes them look? Netanyahu reminds me of Bush.

  • Networking two computers - One runs XP, the other one Vista?

I am wanting to network two computers. One is running Vista, the other one is running XP. Basically wanting to share files back and forth, and internet connection. Both computers have networking cards. Do I need a router for this, or a switch?

What kind of cables do I need?

  • How to buy an affordable, easy to use router?

I have two computers. Both have ethernet cards. One computer has Windows Vista, the other has Windows XP, I have one DSL connection, the dsl modem only has port for one computer.

I want to network the computers together to share the DSL Internet connection.

I want to use a router, but I do not know anything about them. Mainly the brand names, price, etc.

    So, my question is

What router should I buy that's affordable and easy to put together, I only have two PCs.

Also, do I need specific types of cables?

    Answers appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Thoughts on Netanyahu? Two part question?

1.) He is the front runner for Israel's upcoming election, and from this article it seems that he is more interested in making the situation in Palestine worse than working towards a solution. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090126/ap_on_re_mi_ea...

The fact that he is a front runner, and expected to win does not say a whole lot to me about Israel.

2.) If Israel wants peace with Palestine, why do are they in the West Bank period?

  • Israel in Gaza? Two part question?

Is Israel planning to just take complete control of Gaza and Palestine?

Is the rest of the world going to just stand by and let them do it?

I am upset, but not suprised with the United States government's stance. Although more and more people here are seeing the truth about Israel. That does not do a whole lot to help the Palestinian people.

However, the United States is just one country. What about the rest of the world?

  • Kick Scooter with bike tires?

I am trying to find a kick scooter with bike tires instead of the small skate board like wheels that are on all the scooters that I see at the stores. This is for my 5 year old. Children of the 80's might remember the scooters that we had as children...

  • Car is driving weird....

Hi, I have a 1997 Mercury Sable. For the past couple of weeks, it has been driving weird. I seems like it has a flat on the front left tire, but the pressure in all four tires is OK. It seems to be worse after I make a sharp turn, and kind of vibrates between the speeds of 30 - 40 mph.. It pulls slightly to the left. The tread seems OK on all tires too. They are getting worn, but still have a bit of life left in them. I am not a car expert, so any advice on what to look or check for is greatly appreciated!

  • Four Year Old Bedtime?

I am just wondering what time everyone puts their four-year olds to bed? Do they sleep in their own bed, or find their way into yours? I am curious to hear other's stories, and maybe get a few new ideas. My daughter is 4 1/2. We have had issues with her sleep since day one. She did not sleep through the night for the whole first year. She would not sleep in her crib, so we made her sleep in her play pen. Then, we got her a toddler bed. She went to the store and helped me pick out her bedding etc., and was very excited, until it came time to go to sleep on her own. She found her way to our bed - There is only so much sleep deprivation that my husband and I can handle.

Now, she has a bunkbed that she loves. She said that she was scared of monsters, so I made her a monster charm (celtic sheild knot cut out of cardboard), and had her help me decorate it. We are still struggleing. She will sleep in her bed if her Dad or I sleep with her. Just want to hear other's stories.

  • Tomato Plants?

I have tomato plants that I grew from seeds. I have one cherry tomato plant that has been producing well for the past couple of months. The other plants (I think that they are beefsteak) are growing well, and have tons of blooms, but still no tomatos. I am just wondering if any one else is having this problem. I am in the DFW area.

  • Composting?

I have finally started composting! I am using a plastic storage container with a lid, and am dumping tea, coffee grounds, vegetable, and fruit waste. I also put in either potting soil, or hummus about once a week. ( Just sprinkle a layer on top.)

I have been doing this for about 2 months. I just went out to turn it ( I have not turned it in about two weeks), and I noticed these large larvae things in it. I am guessing that they are some kind of fly larvae, but they are larger than any I have seen, being about an inch long and about as big as a pinkie.

I worry that I might not have enough carbon material, but other than that I think that I am doing what I am supposed to do.

I would just like to hear from my fellow composters - hopefully with more experience than I!

--Just want to make sure that I am not creating a health hazard, or breeding some kind of mutant creature.

Does anyone know what these things are? Everything seems to be decomposing okay.

  • Have you seen this yet?

Here is the new ad that the Obama campaign is running in Indiana and North Carolina.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHtFSi99shk

What is your take on this. It makes sense to me, and it makes it look like Hillary and McCain are just trying to pacify people. I am sure that there will be those of you who will disagree, but I am interested in hearing what you think.
