Avon Lady

We have an almost 2-year old blue nose pit, and he IS CONSTANTLY licking any human being he is in contact with (mainly my husband, but also me and our 6 year old son). It is a horribly annoying habit, and I would like to find out what is causing it and how to stop it. He (Wilbur, the dog/pig) has plenty of treats, toys, and things to chew, but loves licking human skin. It can be quite unnerving after 20 minutes. I understand it when I have just put lotion on my legs, but he does it to my husband who hasn't put lotion on his arms in God knows how long........

Any suggestions on what causes this behavior? He gets good quality dog food (Diamond dry food and BG wet) so I can't imagine there is a dietary cause......and he is well socialized with 2 other dogs, 5 cats, and a 6 year old child in the home, plus the dog park.

Has anyone else run into this?

I bought a "Rainbow Lizard" today at a local pet store to be a companion to a wild caught blue-belly lizard, and the woman who owns the pet store told me it had NO requirements as far as heat/.humidity, etc, and that it would eat crickets/mealworms. Research that I have done online indicates that the rainbow lizard needs humidity, etc............ right now, I just have them in a tank with about 2" of substrate and a climbing log and a low voltage light that is on 24/7.

Any suggestions? I seem to get different advice anywhere I turn, but I have also had bad advice from this pet store before.

If a California resident has a Medicann card (legal prescription for MJ), then how do they get by if pulled over? Is a presentation of the card enough? Waht about possession? Just curiuos as my cousin has a medical use card due to his back issues, but I don't know how much he can have on him before he will get in trouble, and it does not seem very strict as far as what the card will allow a peron to buy.

Also, can we RENT tobaggans, inner tubes, snow wear??? Or do we have to buy all of that? I remember my dad taking me to a sno-park when I was about 4, but I don't remember where we got all the "gear".

What is your favorite bottled water? I know water selection varies from geographical areas, I'm in California, I'm trying to learn the differences between "spring" vs. "drinking water" vs. "distilled" and the other labels that they use. I DO NOT like Dasani at all (feels "greasy" or something), so I'm pretty much between Aquafina (which is bottled by Coke and therefore probably just "treated tap" like Dasani is), so I've been leaning toward Arrowhead, Glaceau SmartWater, or Fiji lately. I don't mind paying more for a superior product, but I've just recently heard of this "labeling" (tap vs. spring vs. distilled vs. whatever else) thing, and I am curious what others really prefer who may be more knowledgeable than I. I live with my current husband, and we have a stable lifestyle. My son is currently on a joint custody arrangement. His real dad was arrested about 3 weeks ago on DUI w/child endangerment (my son was in the car, he is 4 years old), and other charges such as driving on a suspended license, probation violations related to a 2005 domestic violence charge against me, for which he never completed classes, etc.......... I want to petition the court to grant me full custody, but I don't know WHICH forms to fill out (any help for CA?) and also, what to say to my son?

I tried to tell him that daddy was "sick" and was getting some help (he is a 25+ year cocaine addict much more than alcohol) and my son asked "Is my daddy going to die?" and then every time he sees a cop now he asks "Are the police protecting my daddy?" as he knows they are there to "Protect the city"............... my ex goes to court 11/20, but this is NOT his first stint, this is like his 3rd DUI (but I think only 2nd in 10 years so the other may have fallen off), and he has had a suspended license forever................

I am at the point where I want to get sole custody at LEAST, if not have him adopted by my current husband, but part of me wants to give his real dad one more chance. I'm just not sure how to explain to my son what it is that is going on and why daddy is not around.............

My cooking is horrifying, even if I follow a recipe to the letter, if it is something "unusual" my husband usually hates it (even if I think it came out good). I'd really be OK with him doing all the cooking, but there is a part of me that wants to learn to cook and try different recipes instead of his usual "staples"...........any ideas on how to try something foolproof, and how to get him not to think it's going to be horrible??

I take Levoxyl, which may be needing a slight adjustment, but I get to the point where I can sit at my desk with a jacket on and a 1500 watt space heater turned to full blast and STILL be uncomfortably cold. Could this be related to thryoid, pre-menopause, both, or something else? I do take thyroid pills so it seems unlikely that a simple adjustment would do it.........I'm 43 and starting to experience "pre-menopausal" symptoms so I wonder if freezing is a symptom of that?

I have had joint custody (legal/physical) with my ONLY child's father since my son was 1 1/2. (Father served 6 months in jail for domestic violence and child abuse when baby was one, he threw me to the floor with baby in my arms and then pulled the phone jack out of the wall, cutting baby's leg) while he was drunk and high on cocaine. (Yeah, I knew how to pick 'em)......at the time, I wanted sole physical/legal custody but the "family mediator" strong armed me into joint custody saying it was "best for the child".

Anyway, moving forward, baby is now 4 1/2, and I am happily remarried. CPS called me 2 days ago to tell me dad flunked a pee test for cocaine and that the judge wanted a safety plan put in place, where dad could call me and ask me to keep my son on "his weekend" if he'd been using. I said NO PROBLEM, I NEVER have a problem with keeping my son!! So, they came to interview my son yesterday, and all seemed well, His father picked him up for a scheduled visit last night and was acting very erratically, like he did when he was using when we were together. I asked mutliple times if he was OK to take our son, and he insisted that I had "pushed his buttons" by not answering my cell phone because I left it in the car. To make a long story short, he took my son, called me 8 times, and then returned him to me, all within 45 minutes. (I did not answer 6 of the calls because he was not making sense and I was on the phone with the cops).

He was arrested in front of my house for DUI, child endangerment, probation violations, and driving on a suspended license. This guy has a gift of getting out of what would seem a "reasonable" sentence so I don't suspect he will serve more than 90 days for all that.

I don't have a lot of time (before he gets off probation hold and makes bail somehow) , and I don't have a lot of money, but I want to try to petition the court to change the custody arrangement to give me FULL legal and physical custody until he has a license, and is off coke (my efforts prior to this have drawn a blank stare and a "Golly, Gee, Ma'am, what if the poor schmuck is an addict? He has the right to kill his kid" attitude........ )

Without spending $10K that I don't have to spend, how do I get custody changed based on the fact that he is a habitual offender? This is his 4th (I think) DUI in 10 years (although one was out of state and he was extradited to face charges), and 2nd child-endangerment/abuse charge (with the same child who is now 4). The man has NEVER to my knowledge had a valid driver's license and the court just turns it's head..............

I don't want him to get out of jail with joint custody so that he can drive drunk or on coke again WITH MY SON IN THE CAR and get my son killed. But no one wants to seem to want to tell me how to petition the court without whipping out the green that I don't have. Any benevolent attorneys out there that can walk me through the process? Keep in mind this is California, and in San Benito County.

OK, so my husband found a BABY blue belly (I think) lizard in our indoor warehouse, and we brought it home, where our 4 year old decided it needs to stay. We currently have the poor thing in a small 10 gallon tank with about a dozen crickets, some "substrate" and a soda cap of water, and have a regular fish tank type flourescent light on all the time.

My question is..........how long can this thing be in captivity before it is cruel or it is going to die? My son loves it, and I don't mind going out of my way to ensure that it is cared for, but I really don't know HOW to care for it since I didn't mean to catch the blasted thing...........and there aren't a lot of books out there on keeping WILD CAUGHT lizards.

It measures about 3" long nose to tail right now, and seems to be doing well with the baby crickets, but I don't know much about "gut loading" or other lizard care and I really don't want to keep the poor thing in captivity unless I know how to care for it. I also don't want to just release it into the wild if it doesn't know how to survive, since we've had it for about 2 weeks and I don't know if there are things it's mother should have taught it by now, if it had one.

Please don't diss me for "getting a pet without researching it" as this was an ACCIDENTAL discovery of a lizard in an INDOOR warehouse where it surely would not have survived......... thanks!

I have a friend who is considering marrrying her 1st cousin. This is totally legal in her state (CA) and she and her cousin have been completely, heads over heels in love like no one I have ever seen since they were about 9 years old

Just wondering if anyone else has experiencec this....

I have these BIZARRE cravings sometimes for odd food/drinks, like Tejava unsweetened tea, or tomatoes (really often), or radishes or black olives.

What could I be lacking that would cause such odd cravings? Are these things high in any kind of nutritional value? I can see where tomatoes may have some value, but the others just seem random - I had gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago, so i have to take special vitamins to make sure I get everything I need. I am just curious, because I always heard when you "crave" something that your body knows what it needs, but I can't think of a thing in Tejava, radishes or olives that are "nutritious". Anyone?

When I was 16 I worked for a pet store, and they sold them. Now I'm 43 and it just dawned on me that I haven't seen them for sale for about 25+ years..........
