So. About me? Hmm...Well, let's see. The main reason I'm on here is to answer questions in the Baby Names section, which I've been doing for over a year now. I just love names (even though I won't need baby names for quite some time)! It seems the more I'm on here, the more names I find that I love, and hopefully I help other people find some too. What else is there to know about me? Obviously, from my profile name and my picture, you must know that I love the Wizard of Oz, and therefore, Judy Garland! Actually, I love that movie because I am obsessed with Judy Garland. I also love the TV show House (and of course Hugh Laurie) and anything that has to with the amazing Johnny Depp! I absolutely love anything old-fashioned, particularly from the 1950s and before, and I am enamored with both the Roaring Twenties and the age of Old Hollywood glamour. I only wish I could have lived during one or both of those time periods. Sadly, I am running out of space. That is all.

  • Have you ever heard of Dalida?

She is a wonderful Egyptian-born, Italian singer who was extremely popular in France and other parts of Europe but was never very popular in America (as far as I know): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dewNo_mqcA

Also, what country are you from?

  • Have you heard of her?

Lola Flores was a Spanish singer and dancer, who, if still alive today, would turn 91 on Tuesday.

She is one of my favorites, and I wish more of the non-Spanish-speaking world knew about her. She is not by any means the greatest singer or dancer in the world. In fact, a New York Times critic once said of her, "She can’t sing, she can’t dance – don’t miss her!” That's because, although she is not the greatest talent, she has something in her, some amazing fire that bursts through any screen into your heart.

So, have you heard of her? If not (or if so), what do you think of her?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Hn96uHkthU

Thank you to everyone who answers!

    Happy birthday, Lola!

  • Cleaning out corroded batteries: Is this safe?

One of the batteries in my camera leaked. There was a little bit of white stuff from the corrosion, but it wasn't that bad, and it was easy to pull the battery out.

I tried cleaning off the battery terminal with just water (because I don't have any vinegar or baking soda or lemon juice; I'm a college student), but there is still a little bit of leftover white residue.

My question is, is it safe for me to put in new batteries and use the camera even if there is still a little bit of white corrosion left of on the battery terminal?

    Thanks for your help.

  • What does it mean if a guy does this?

There is a boy that I like (he might know that I like him), but I don't know him very well. We were in a group with about three other people. He and another girl were at the front, and I was right behind them, when we were leaving a room in the building we were in. He told the girl to go ahead of him out the door, but then he walked in front of me. In other words, he told this other girl he could go ahead of him, but he didn't say the same to me.

Then, we got to another door leading to the outside of the building. This time, he was at the front of the line, the other girl was behind him, and I was behind her. Once again, he held the door for the other girl to go ahead outside, but he walked out the door right in front of me. Why did he do this? I am afraid that he hates me. I know that this is probably stupid of me and I'm just overthinking this, but I am still confused. Does what he did mean anything?

  • Can someone please help me?

The best friend I have ever had is leaving in four days for fall break and not coming back again until possibly next school year (we're in college). She has had depression for a number of years, and she has decided that staying home for a while might help her get back on her feet again. She hasn't been able to go to class for weeks, so there's no reason for her to stay here and continue to do poorly. I am happy that she is going home, because I really hope that it will help her, but at the same time, I am so sad about it, because I am losing my best friend. I am a very shy person, and so she is the person that I hang out with most of the time. We have dinner together every night, and we'll usually hang out a bit on the weekends too. I have a couple of other friends, but I don't see them nearly as regularly. And, because I am so shy, I am so afraid to ask someone to go to dinner with me that I just wait for them to initiate. If they don't, I just have dinner by myself. So, basically, because my friend is leaving, I will now be eating every meal by myself. Also, she was usually the person who would go to movies with me, to go see speakers, etc., so now that she is leaving, I won't have anybody to go to those things with either. I will be myself, all of the time, and I don't think I can survive like that.

Ever since she has told me that she is definitely leaving, I have been crying on and off. I need to stop doing this, to get back to life and try to make it work for me, but I don't know how. Do you have any ideas? I really need something more than just, "go ask other people to hang out with you," because I want to be able to do that, but it's just not something I'm capable of at the moment.

You may ask why I am not spending time with my friend right now, while she is still here. Well, we were supposed to hang out today (last night she said we could do something fun together on Saturday), but then she just decided to hang out with other people. I understand that there are other people that she wants to say goodbye to, but I don't see why I couldn't have come along too, especially because I am also friends with the people she was hanging out with today. I just wasn't invited, and I don't understand why. It really hurts.

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!

  • Which performance of this song do you prefer?

Hine Ma Tov is a popular Jewish song. The lyrics are the first verse of Psalm 133, which says (in English),"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"

Which of these two versions do you like the most?:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOpyDPQWbZI

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPKu4TyjSW0 (The song doesn't start until about 50 second into the video.)

If you don't have time to listen to the whole songs, I think it is especially important to listen to the second halves of them.

    Thank you!
