  • Which person is more irrational?

Which person is more irrational? The person who believes in a God he can't see? Or the person who is offended by a God she doesn't believe exists?

  • Governing Body departure?

Just saw a news story about several WTBTS Governing Body members who have left the organization. They said that it was for 3 main reasons.

    1. They knew that the New World Translation was not translated by people who knew the original languages, but was an effort by Governing Body members to create a Bible that more closely matched their teachings.

    2. They knew that they were providing leadership, without any real supernatural guidance.

    3. They knew that the Bible didn't teach of a literal end time "Faithful Slave" and pointed to a parallel passage as recorded in Luke 12:41 as a clear teaching of a figurative "faithful slave" calling it an "illustration".

Luke 12: 41 Then Peter said: “Lord, are you telling this illustration just to us or also to everyone?”

I understand that this originally came from a Bethelite. Can anyone confirm this? I'm sure that no official report will come out any time soon.

  • I have a March 1, 2014 Watchtower magazine that I am curious about...?

Headline is "What God has done for you".

In that one article, they use the term "God" 32 times (I think I counted right) and "Jehovah God" only once.

Why omit "Jehovah"? Are they guilty of not using the divine name? Are they ashamed of it? Why the omission?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses... Sex and drinking?

JW founder Russell said no drinking. Now drinking is allowed, but drunkenness is not. I know of several elders who can drink a lot and "not get drunk", so I know heavy drinking is allowed.

Do you all have a similar policy in regards to sex outside of marriage? Kissing, heavy petting, etc is okay, just not the actual sex act?

If not, what is the difference? Shouldn't we keep as far from sin as possible?

    Thanks!

  • Atheists and anti-theists... Would be believe in God if...?

He/she was not the God of the Bible, and had no rules that you had to abide by? You were allowed to do your own thing, and not worry about an eternal judgment for your soul in a fiery hell? You could fulfill any and all your appetites? All He/She wanted was for you to recognize that He was the Creator?

Would that allow you to believe in, and/or follow God?

Can a Jehovah's Witness believe and discuss openly with another Jehovah's Witness an opinion that differs from Watch Tower doctrine?

A simple "yes" or "no" is all that I'm looking for. Thanks!
