Skyrim mods question...?
I'm getting into modding Skyrim and want to view the meshes and texures files. I'm using nifskope to view the .nif files and irfanview to view the .dds files. So how can I view them both together so that the texture is mapped onto the mesh? Do I need 3D modelling software and if so which is the most versatile that would be compatible with Skyrim files?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games6 years agoSkyrim mods question...?
So I've downloaded mods for Skyrim and would like to view and extract some of the models/textures seperately. What is the best standalone free software that will do this, that will combine both the .nif (meshes) and the .dds (textures)? I don't necessarily want to edit the files, just view them as a complete model.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games6 years agoIs there a way to access all files on another computer on your home network?
I've set up a network but I can only share video's, documents, etc and the only folders that are shared are the relevant ones in "My video's", "My documents", etc.
Is there a way I can access the whole directory structure of the other computers attached to my home network?
1 AnswerComputer Networking6 years agoData transfer PC to PC at USB 3.0 speeds?
I have two computers and I'm using a j5Create wormhole switch which allows me to use the same keyboard and mouse for both of them and I can also transfer files from one PC to the other at USB 2.0 speeds. I'm looking for a similar device that will work at USB 3.0 speeds but the upgraded version JUC700 from j5Create doesn't do the job (it only supports resolutions of 1920x1080 and the speeds are hardly USB 3.0 - I have installed the correct drivers for the JUC700 and my motherboard).
So, can anyone recommend a way of transferring data from one computer to the other (without having to use external drives or memory sticks or other devices/media) at USB 3.0 speeds, preferably with some kind of software or driver that will allow me to control the transfers from both computers? I.e. copy files on computer 1, switch to computer 2, paste files on computer 2.
2 AnswersAdd-ons6 years agoCan anyone recommend a camera that can transfer files at USB 3.0 speeds?
I currently have the SX50 HS by Canon but file transfers to my PC take forever. Can anyone recommend a similar bridge camera or a faster way of transferring files?
1 AnswerCamcorders6 years agoCanon SX50 questions.?
Is it possible to get a battery pack for the SX50 to extend the battery life? I currently use 1800mah but they don't last very long.
Also I just found out about the Atomos Ninja which allows you to extend the video duration beyond 29 minutes - is this compatible with the SX50? If yes, which is best, the ninja, ninja 2, ninja star, ninja blade?
Finally are there any other accessories like the ninja that would be compatible with the SX50 and what do they do?
4 AnswersCameras7 years agoWhats the best anti-corrosive additive I can add to home made coolant for a PC?
I'm in the UK - I'm pretty fed up of buying expensive coolant for my PC (I use primochill EC6). I've used silver and biocides but I still get algae in my loop after a time. I've decided to make my own coolant with distilled water (boiled first to inhibit further growth) and I already have biocide. My components are nickel / copper. I need to know the best anti-corrosive additive and something UV reactive for a clear uncoloured solution (I'll add colouring later).

It would be interesting to see what the average opinion is.
16 AnswersOther - Society & Culture7 years agoHow much memory are you actually using right now?
I keep reading answers on YA saying "oooh you will never need more than 8Gb of ram" or something similar. I have 40Gb installed and I'm not using my computer nearly as much as I sometimes do yet I'm using 57% of available memory (23,599Mb).
So how much are you using? Open resource monitor (click start and type it in the dialog box to open it up) and click on the memory tab. Just as an experiment could you try it with a game running and without as well. Also open up any other applications that you use regularly for a realistic figure, such as google chrome or whatever else you regularly use? Obviously if you've just booted your PC you won't be using much memory.
1) How much memory is being used without the game running?
2) How much memory is being used with the game running?
3) How much memory do you have installed?
4) Which application is using the most memory and how much is it using?
5) Do you wish you had more memory?
6) Any other comments are welcome.
1 AnswerOther - Hardware7 years agoIs there an application that shows the seperate core or thread usage with a CPU?
I use realtemp to monitor the temperatures of my CPUs cores but it only shows 4 cores maximum. Resource monitor is useless as well. Is there an application that will show the usage or temperatures of all 6 cores on my i7-4960X?
1 AnswerDesktops7 years agoIs it worth upgrading from an i7-4960X to an i7-5960X?
The 4960X runs at 3.6GHz and has 6 cores - the 5960X runs at 3Ghz and has 8 cores. Are there many applications or games that actually utilise 8 cores or will many be released soon? If most only take advantage of 4 or 6 cores, wouldn't I just be downgrading rather than upgrading. The 5960X will also come on systems that support DDR4 memory and SATA express but I can't decide if those alone would be worth it. If there are many games or apps that utilise 8 cores then it's a no brainer, but it's hard to find lists or any information.
The other question I have is, you can set the affinity for processes to utilise as many cores/threads as you have available (these all seem to be defaulted to using all of them) but does this still work if the software isn't designed to utilise them all? If it does then again upgrading would be worthwhile.
4 AnswersAdd-ons7 years agoI have two computers that have Displayport outputs and a TV that only has HDMi input...?
Can anyone find or recommend a switch that would allow me to connect both computers to the TV and would allow me to switch between either? It has to have two Displayport inputs and one HDMi output.
1 AnswerTVs7 years agoHow can I tell if my computer has accepted my overclocking settings from within Windows?
I know nothing about overclocking. I have an i7-4960X with a Rampage IV Extreme and loaded the air-cooled OC profile (the computer wouldn't boot with the watercooled profile). My computer booted ok into windows but there is no visible evidence that the CPU is overclocked - CPU-z clock core says 3600MHz maximum but that's the CPUs native speed anyway. My average temperature has gone up from 27 degrees to 32 degrees so it seems to be doing something.
So how do I know (without going back into the UEFI BIOS) that the overclock has worked and what software can I use for stability testing?

1 AnswerDesktops7 years agoHow do I install PCI-express v3.0 on an Asus Rampage IV extreme?
I have an i7-4960X, a GTX 770 4Gb by Gigabyte and a rampage IV extreme. I've installed the latest drivers for everything today and all of my components should be PCI-express v3.0 compatible. When I go to the nVidia control panel it says I'm using PCI-express v2 x16? I can't find anything on the Asus site in the drivers section for my motherboard.
1 AnswerAdd-ons7 years agoIs there any difference between the i7-4771 and the i7-4770K?
I've looked at the Intel datasheets but I can't see any difference at all - is it just the same CPU but with a different model number?
3 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoCould the evidence from spectroscopy when analyzing stars and redshift be wrong?
Can we be absolutely sure that our theory of spectroscopy applies to light coming from outside of our galaxy? Is it possible that other forces such as dark matter interact with light in ways (bending, shifting, accelerating, decelerating, or other) that we don't yet understand? From previous questions on yahoo answers I gather that we know so little about our universe, a tiny fraction, that almost anything is possible. Our whole assumption that stars contain or produce certain elements or that the universe is expanding could be completely wrong because of something we're missing, some knowledge we don't yet understand.
For those of you that believe we have everything exactly right I expect a grand unified theory on my desk by tomorrow morning :)
3 AnswersPhysics7 years agoWhat evidence is there that elements are created in stars?
If they are created in stars, are they created from protons and neutrons or are they already there? Or are they created from the subatomic particles? Also, at what point are they created - does it only happen under certain conditions such as supernovas or with only certain types of stars?
9 AnswersAstronomy & Space7 years agoEvolutionists believe we evolved from apes...?
What is believed to be the apes non-ape like common ancestor, and the ancestor of that species and so on. Does anyone have a link that shows the family tree right back to when our very distant ancestors crawled or flopped out of the water? In other words, what came before the apes, and what came before those, etc.
