Do I lose rights if I'm changed from full time to 4 days per week? Am I easier to get rid of?
I currently work full time at an ad agency (very small) - have been here since Feb 2000. My boss is about to ask me to go to 4 days per week. Does this mean that I'll lose the protection of a full time employee? Am I losing possible entitlements if I am dismissed? I'm thinking pro rata long service, redundancy payouts, annual leave, etc. I'm in Australia btw.
1 AnswerLaw & Legal1 decade agoSo Danny Nalliah blames the Victorian bushfires on abortion laws. Is this reasonable?
Has written a letter to the editor in The Melbourne Age, and has this to say on his blog (http://catchthefire.com.au/blog/)
“In my dream I saw fire everywhere, with flames burning very high and uncontrollably. With this I woke up from my dream with the interpretation as the following words came to me in a flash from the spirit of God. That his conditional protection has been removed from the nation of Australia, in particular Victoria, for approving the slaughter of innocent children in the womb. “Can we stop the fires? Yes we can! But it will take God’s children to rally together and repent and cry unto him as in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (The Holy Bible).”
So I suppose my question is, is this guy a complete w@nker or not?

26 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat symbols in modern culture do you know? What do they mean?
Eg; Rainbow or Seahorse = gay, fish sticker = Christian, etc. In particular, I wonder if the stickers of frangipanni flowers on cars mean anything, or if they're there just because they're pretty.
Can anyone tell me about symbols that mean something about the person they know of?

4 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoWhy are Christians ok with other people going to hell?
Doesn't it make them you uncomfortable to worship a deity who will inflict torture and pain upon another human being just because they didn't believe in him? Doesn't that make your god and his followers callous, heartless and a bit of a prick? I personally feel that Christians derive far too much joy from the potential punishment of those who don't believe as they do. Discuss.
24 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat's your all time favourite graphic novel?
Ok, fine, give me a list. Personally, I'm hugely impressed by Garth Ennis' "Preacher" series.
4 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoShould Catholic clergy continue with celibacy?
Especially since it is the cause of so much pain and misery? Surely the incidence of illicit sex between priests and their parishioners or with nuns, and of course the sexual predation of minors would drop if this archaic attitude towards clergy and marriage/sexuality were dropped. I'm not a Catholic, but I am acutely aware of the fallout that the behaniour by some of these alleged men of God causes.
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do religions in general denigrate life on earth?
All I hear is that the Earth is sinful, imperfect, filled with pain and misery, something to escape. Flesh and it's pleasures are evil and must be denied. This is not just Christianity. Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism all preach the same thing.
Surely even they can see that life and the universe is a wondrous thing!

13 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoI tried reading the Bible but I found it boring and anachronistic. Anyone else?
Also, it contradicts itself, is completely unbelievable, and the high moral code it purportedly extoles seems a little barbaric to me. About the only good bit I found was the Golden Rule. All the rest....well, kinda dumb. Discuss.
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIsn't the concept of a virgin birth inCONCEIVABLE?

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it possible the internet has a soul/consiousness?
The brain is a whole bunch of connections, and thought is the interaction of these connections. The internet becomes more complex daily, and represents a matrix of connections and electrical impulses spread across the world. Could it actually have a consciousness? If not, could it one day?
