Apparently my mom won't let me use my own money?
So there's a costume that I really like. I just got my paycheck today (I work under the student work program so I don't earn much money) and I really want to use it to buy a costume that I really like. But apparently my mom won't let me buy it because she thinks that I'm going to turn into a weaboo and cosplay in public (which is not my intention).
What do I do? I tried reasoning with her and she won't listen to me.

1 AnswerSinging8 years agoAny music programs for the PC similar to the DSiWare software Rytmik?
I'm looking for a music-making program that's similar to the DSiWare game rytmik. I prefer the program to be a free download, but if you only know of any pay-to-download ones, I can only buy ones that are the minimum price of $5 and the maximum price $35.
Again, does anyone know of any music-making programs for the PC that are free or around $5 to $35? Please answer if you do know! Thank you! ^^
1 AnswerSoftware8 years agowhy is my teacher always flicks me and point me out. what does this mean?
My teacher always puts his hand on my head (like smacking and keeping it there until I turn around and look at him) and flicks me in the head or back when he thinks its funny (as my mom says). Also when I make a mistake no matter how big or small he always yells out my name like (YOU KNOW, [says my name loudly]!!!!!!!!!!!) and the best I can think of is to go along with it and say something like the teachers name or say Yes or What (not questioning). Then he points me out like when in rocket club I asked a favor of him like if I could get instructions from him or a piece because I lost mine. I talked to my mom and dad about they just told me to say, "What do you want" or something like that. but how can i do that when he is always around teachers.
Can someone help me and tell me what this means. Please because I don't

2 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoWhat is a good brand of non toxic hair dyes?
A couple weeks ago, when I got my hair cut short, I also got purple and pink streaks in my hair (semi-permanent streaks), but now I want to have permanent streaks.
My hair is (naturally) a dirt blonde color and I have thick hair.
But here's where my question comes into mind: do you know of any good brands of non toxic permanent hair color dyes (purple and pink dyes) that won't harm my hair or anything like that?
2 AnswersHair1 decade agoIs my roleplay character a Mary Sue? What do you think?
Okay. So I took this Mary Sue litmus test thingy to check and see if my character was a Mary Sue. I got a score of 18, which meant that my character is a Non-Mary Sue.
But I'm still not completely sure if she is or not. So I want to know what you think.
(Note: This thread is also for people who want their characters checked to see if s/he is a Mary Sue or Gary Stu, too.)
Note: I like to be descriptive with making my character. Since I am an artist myself, I usually like to be descriptive about how I want my character(s) to look so that I can paint a mental picture of them.
Here's my character's info (Note: I usually RP InuYasha, so this is why her bio is like that):
Name: Lilly
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Hair color: Dark brown
Eye color: Leafy, forest green
Skin color: Skin white
Native language: American English
Secondary language: Japanese
Excellent at: drawing, singing, writing, and gymnastics
Worst at: swimming, defending herself, being aware of danger sneaking on her
Bio: Lilly was originally born in America, but she moved to Japan with her mother at the age of eight because of her parents' divorce. When Lilly was about six, her dad had abused her continually until her mother noticed his acts years later. At the age of ten, she became best friends with Kagome, and the two were friends since then. Lilly's family is very rich, but her mom owns most of the money, so Lilly is spoiled with not only what she wants, but what any girl or boy could want. Lilly has no siblings, so she is an only child.
Lilly is pretty in her own way, but not extremely attractive, so not very many boys are attracted to her. They are also not attracted to her due to her tendencies of being bratty and childish at times, since she is spoiled. Lilly also does not have very many friends due to her tendencies.
_________
So what do you think? Do you think she is (not) a Mary Sue?
(Don't forget to add reasons to support your opinion.)
4 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoHow come people hate Japanese cartoons so much?
I like anime. Well, some, but not all of it. The only anime show that I am a fan of is InuYasha. And I like to use this 3D animating program called MikuMikuDance (MMD) because it's free and easy to use. And because of it, I have about 154 subscribers on YouTube.
Anyway, my mom said that I should stop watching anime and using MMD. She thinks that because of anime, it will be "harder for me to socialize with other people" and that anime is for "creepy middle-aged (Japanese) men." My older sister even told me that anime was made for porn (which I don't believe to be true)! Even my mom said that if my "obsession" with anime keeps up, people will call me a loser behind my back and I won't be able to make as much friends.
I also want to learn Japanese and go to Japan someday because I think the language and culture are very fascinating and interesting, and I want to learn more about it.
I don't understand why people hate anime and Japanese things so much. Even my oldest-but-younger-than-me brother is annoying me about it saying how "anime and MikuMiku is not making me happy; it's only making me sad and that even my psychologist said so." Again, THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! My depression is NOT because of anime. It's chronic depression. I take medication for it, and I'm perfectly fine.
I don't understand why people think that people who like anime and Japanese things are "abnormal." Why do people hate Japanese things so much? How come people don't respect people's hobbies/interests in anime and Japanese things? I just don't understand. Please help!
((I know this is the same question that I asked before, but I'm still so confused.))
12 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoHow come people hate Japanese things so much?
I like anime. And Japanese things. I only like some anime, but not all of it. The only anime that I'm a fan of is InuYasha. THAT'S IT. Nothing else.
I also like to use this animating program called MMD (MikuMikuDance) because it's easy for me to use. And because of it, I have about 136 subscribers on YouTube.
Here's what I'm confused about: I don't understand why people hate anime. What's so bad about it?
My mom said that anime was the "devil" and she even said that it's for "creepy middle-aged Japanese men." She even said that if my "obsession" for anime keeps up, I won't be able to make as much friends, I'll be called a loser behind my back, and I'll have a bad life.
My older sister even said that the purpose of anime was for pornography, which I don't believe to be true.
My mom also said that anime had "lots of subliminal messages" in it. Well well well, look who's talking! Viacom already sticks in TONS AND TONS of subliminal messages in Spongebob and things like that, and people like me can notice them CLEARLY. The anime shows that I've seen before, I've never found any subliminal messages in them. NOT ONE.
I want to go to Japan someday just for sightseeing and learn about their culture and what they do. I don't want to live there, but I just want to go there and learn about it because I think that the culture is very fascinating to me. I also want to learn how to speak it as well, and I'm already teaching myself how to write it since I like drawing and stuff.
I don't know why, but my family wants me to be "normal." To them, this means:
*stop watching anime for good
*stop using MMD for good
*do the things you hate and force yourself to like it
*don't draw anime
My sister said that anime was for "weird people" who have no life and she even said that all Japan comes up with is weird sh**.
My dad is even trying to block my hobbies from me! (ex. blocking words like "Miku", "anime", etc.)
My family is even trying to convince me to hate Japanese things and do "normal" things.
I don't understand what's so wrong about anime and Japanese things. Why do people have such a big problem with it? Why do people hate it so much? Why do people shun people who like Japanese things?
I just don't understand. Please help! DX

8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhat are your opinions on abortion?
This is for my English paper thingymabobber.
I am doing a speech on abortion and why I think it's wrong. I have to list BOTH sides for the beginning of my paper and then write my opinion out after that.
This is my opinion on abortion:
I think that it's the stupidest idea ever invented. It's just another excuse to kill something/someone and then get away with it scot free. Plus, according to my religion, in the Ten Commandments, killing and/or murdering is a mortal sin, and abortion is a type of murder. If women get an abortion, they'll just regret it eventually, so it's better to get on with the mood swings and getting the baby (you can put it up for adoption if you don't want it) than just killing it and feeling bad for herself.
Have you seen the TRUE side of abortion? Have you seen pictures of (dead) babies with black-colored stuff (that looks like mold) on them? Have you seen pictures of blood all over the undeveloped dead babies? That's how humane abortion is.
And I know you may (not) laugh at this, but think of the babysitters and nannies. How will they get paid money to take care of children and babies? Thanks to abortion, they are (probably) making less money, thanks to the stupidest idea on the planet which we call abortion.
What do you think of abortion? What's your opinion? Do you think it's stupid or smart?

4 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoAre you more of a looking-at-things person or a person who likes to do interactive things?
I'm like both, but I'm a little more of the "interactive" side. I'm more of a person who likes to actually DO things instead of walking around with sore feet looking at stuff.
I hate historical sites and museums, because for one thing, I don't like looking walking around looking at things that I don't really care about and reading about things that I don't care about (and will eventually forget about later on).
I prefer to go to places like arcades, amusement parks, and other things like that. At least there's something to DO like games and rides and stuff.
Another reason why I hate museums and historical sites is because it feels like going back to school, and I really HATE school.
Unless I go to a museum that has at least interactive things to do like holding objects to see what they're really like, then that's fine with me. Unless I go to a historical site that lets you hold things to learn what they feel like, then that's also fine with me. Unless any attractions have at least interactive things to do like making stuff, pulling drawers open to look at things, etc, then that's fine with me.

3 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoI hate band!!!!!!!!! DX?
When I was younger, I wanted to be in band because I wanted to be on stage like my older sister. I liked band when I got into it when I was in 5th grade through around 6th or 7th grade. I did enter competitions because my (stupid) music teacher made me (I got a rank 1 in most of them). I know I'm good at the clarinet and stuff, but now I hate band. I hate playing my instrument because I feel that it's just not making me happy (but I don't know if I can bring myself to tell my parents that). I hate having too much pressure put onto me because of band. I hate the rude people there (they always ask my sister why I play with my hair. I can't stop playing with my hair because it's a habit of mine if I'm ever bored to death). I hate having a hard time trying to keep up with everyone else. I hate having to play stupid songs. I love drawing and animating more than band. Drawing anime and working with (3D) animation is what makes me happy.
And every time my mom says anything like, "Okay, Gen! It's time to practice your clarinet!" I just want to b****h and scream. And my mom always keeps telling me that "if I practice, I'll be the best in the whole school." NO!! That's not what I want!! I don't want to be the most famous person in my school. I don't want to be super famous. I don't want to be like my dad (who plays the clarinet and is very good at it). I want to be ME. I want to be an anime/manga artist. I want to be a 3D animator and work with companies like Disney when I get older.
My parents think that I "love" band, but really, I don't. I want to stop playing my annoying instrument and learn something else that will make me happy. But nooooo, my selfish parents are forcing me to keep going.
I don't know what to do! I feel so angry, pressured, stressed, sad, and annoyed! What do I do?!
3 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoDo you agree with this article?
Have I ever mentioned that I hate school?
Every once in a while I'll say that to someone, and they'll chuckle at me indulgently. The funny thing? They appear to be completely unaware that in response to their chuckling, my primary urge is to put my fist through their teeth.
I hate school. I don't mean it's a pain in the ***. I don't mean it's annoying. I mean that if you told me today that if I drove a red-hot nail through my hand and in exchange for that I could have my degree and wouldn't have to go to class anymore, in two seconds that nail would be through my hand.
I'm not joking. I'm not being hyperbolic, either.
Week in and week out of having to drag myself to an experience I loathe so deeply and so passionately has been one of the biggest psychic energy drains on me of the last two and a half years. Comforting to know I've only got a year and a half of it left, I suppose. "Over the hump" and all that. Although still, to this day, every time I'm presented with an excuse to quit, I have to spend a long time talking myself out of it.
In fact, right at this very moment I have an opportunity to quit. I have an excuse. All I have to do is fail to file some paperwork they just mailed me, and I'm out. I'm fighting myself right now to make myself fill it out. Fill it out just so I can have the "privilege" of continuing to punish myself with something I hate so much, and piling up more debt I don't want in the process.
Why do it? Well, I do it for my family. That is the only reason. I get absolutely no value--none, zero, zip, nada--from college, except whatever status it brings me professionally, and I only care about that because of my family.
Someone usually responds to such statements by saying, "what's the matter, you don't like learning?" Actually punching such people in the teeth would be excessive. Perhaps a boot to the gut would suffice. "No, moron, it's not that I don't like learning. I learn every day, in every way, in the same way that people like Edison and Lincoln learned: with books, and by talking to people, not by sitting in some classroom, sweating out the minutes, wishing to God I was somewhere else."
I have an excellent GPA, as it happens, but you could take everything I've learned in the last two and a half years, write it down, and teach it to me in 1/10th the time and 1/100th the cost. Learning is not what most modern universities are about.
Not long ago someone told me that I'm a "different person" because of college. Yeah, a more surly, cynical, annoyed person with a lot more debt.
I've also had people tell me that college "expands your mind." Yeah, it's expanded it into a deep and abiding contempt for higher education in the United States, and a tendency to view people with college degrees as even dumber than I thought they were before.
The best, though, is this: "college teaches you how to learn." My ***. It does a far better job of teaching you how to sit there and not learn, from what I've seen.
It appears to me that the only thing I've learned in college is how to sit down, shut up, and jump through hoops without much complaint. Which is, perhaps, the real purpose of undergraduate education today. Because it sure as hell isn't the acquisition of knowledge. Yeah, maybe you get that in law school, in tech schools, med schools, etc. But your typical undergrad education? Feh. Learning is the last thing anyone cares about anymore.
I really, really hate school, and I mean in the literal sense of "counting the days until I'm finished like a prisoner counts the days until his release." Have I ever mentioned that?
By the way, you there. Yeah, you. The one who's about to leave me a comment saying, "Cheer up Dean, you'll look back when it's all over and be proud of what you've accomplished!" Before you type it, just stop yourself. Don't even try it, Bunky. No, I will not feel proud. "Relieved" is the most positive emotion I'm likely to feel, and I'll be glad if that's all I feel.
Why the hell do we put people through this? I get it it for highly specialized fields like law and science. For anything else, I have trouble thinking of it as anything but either an elaborate joke, or simply an expensive initiation rite, the buy-in price to be a member of an exclusive club of people who've proved they can suck enough dirt to buy their way into a decent job.
Man I hate school.

5 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoDo your parents hate anime?
My mom doesn't seem to like it, as well as my dad. They think that I am "too obsessed with it and I should do other things."
Oddly, they don't care if I watch InuYasha... Oo
But that's because I watch one episode of it On Demand once every few weeks.
They also don't mind if I draw manga, either... oddly.
My older sister hates anime as well, but the only one she seems to like is Death Note (which I don't care for because... it seems to be too overrated).
Two of my younger brothers (Billy and Andrew, who are Narutards) got my parents to watch Spirted Away. Seems like that's the only anime movie that they approve of...
Overall, my parents seem to hate anime. They think that it's "stupid."
Why do I like anime? Because the stuff that Cartoon Network has is not entertaining for me anymore. It's all about bathroom humor and nose jokes on that channel. ><
17 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoI feel sad and I don't know why... DX?
Yesterday some Japanese person on YouTube told me that "I never learn from experience." It really hurt my feelings because to me, it feels like they're calling me stupid. I was really hurt and sad because of this comment and I was sad for the rest of the entire day.
And today, I still feel sad. I have no idea why. I feel that I am a stupid person. I feel that I am an ugly girl I feel like I'm not creative. I feel like I never learn. I feel that no one loves me. And I feel alone, no matter how many people I'm around with. I don't feel loved by anyone. I just want to die so it can all be over.
I'm already on an anti-depressant, but I am not sure if it is working. I already have a therapist and two psychologists. But sometimes their advice doesn't work.

For those who don't know what trolls are, they are people who run around anywhere on the Internet making people pissed off by starting an arguement to amuse themselves. If they are ever on YouTube, they give videos one star or let out a bad comment to start up a good arguement because they are bored. If they are ever on Yahoo Answers, they come around giving answers a thumbs down simply for no reason, or they just give out a stupid and irrelevant answer to a question (ex. *Overuse Japanese words on my videos (PET PEEVE OF MINE WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT. DX)
~*-blank- and whine at you because they think that you copied them when you really didn't; all you did was take some parts to make it your own (hey, at least they do get credit, right? Isn't that enough?!).
