  • How long will it take for Aroldis Chapman to be a starter in Cincy?

With Aaron Harang and Homer Bailey stinking it up, *CHAPMAN* is the one who will be throwing out of the pen? He honestly can't be any more disappointing than Harang or Bailey.

Reds fan, sound off. You can't be happy with this guy in the pen, right?

  • Big 18 months Boy (not obese, just big), can't get up or crawl but can walk?

Big 18 months old, can walk/run excellent now BUT........ he cannot crawl, roll or pull himself up from a sitting or lying position nor can he scootch around the floor. If he's in his crib and wakes up, he lies there until we go get him. If he's on the floor playing with a toy and wants another toy that's out of reach, he can't move in any way shape or form to get it. He doesn't even try to get it. Recently we've just taught him how to pull himself up out of a chair by grabbing onto the coffee table but he only does it when we ask him too. I was getting very worried and took him to 3 Specialist and each of them gave me a different reply:

    1. He's just a big boy and his arms probably can't support his weight (32 pounds now and 18 mths old this week)

    2. You've just got a lazy little boy on your hands

    3. Not many children bypass all the required steps to get to walking but when they do, they don't see a need to go back and learn the other stuff because once they're on their feet, they can do what they like.

Am not satisfied with the answers. Am convinced there is something more serious.

Child is getting physiotherapy every 2 weeks but no changes has been noticed.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  • Was my friend's house foreclosed upon illegally and does he have any recourse?

My friend has a house in Bellingham, WA. He is self-employed, and with the economic troubles, he of course had problems with his house payment and was negotiating for loan modification. He had his 1st and 2nd mortgage with Wells Fargo. He was in process of loan modification when he found out the house's 2nd had been foreclosed upon and already recorded.

He needs to get out ASAP. He just found out about it yesterday, but it was recorded a month ago. He received no prior notice. My understanding was that in Washington state, you need to be served with something or a letter requiring a signature.

Of course the obvious thing is that if he is negotiating with Wells Fargo, how do they not take care of the 2nd when he is dealing with the same company? He thought they were also doing the 2nd, but found out that not only did the department handling the 2nd not communicate with him, but they didn't even communicate with each other!

In summary, he was making payments and working with them in good faith, trying to rectify the problems. With no written warning, his house was recorded a month ago and reverted to bank ownership, all the while he has been working with them. Can he get an injunction? How long until he needs to vacate? He isn't even packed.

    Thank you.

  • Which team should Randy Johnson represent on his plaque when he enters the baseball Hall of Fame?

As I watch Randy Johnson make a meaningless relief appearance for the Giants, I am reminded of the time when a Randy Johnson relief appearance was in a critical playoff game or had some sort of statistical significance.

The bulk of his playing career with with the Mariners. He also established his persona there as well as having some pretty prolific games both in importance to the Mariners and his personal accomplishments. While they had success with him, and success that was important to the lowly Mariners, it paled in comparison to his success with the Diamondbacks.

With the Diamondbacks he played for less years than with the Mariners, but enjoyed personal and team success with them that he did not have elsewhere during his career. At the point where they had him in Arizona he was simply dominant and at the peak of his game. Their success as a young club was really without precedent or comparison, especially as it was mostly his influence that led to it.

If you boil down his quality over a sustained period of time, the argument for the Diamondbacks is compelling. If length of time as well as notable moments in the building of his legend and legacy, the Mariners are the better argument. With recent inductees like Wade Boggs and Gary Carter, it would seem that he would be a Mariner even if his preference was the Diamondbacks.

Personally, I think the intangible is how he came of age as a Mariner. It was an exciting time for baseball and with Griffey and A-Rod he really put the Mariners on the map and helped making watching Mariners clips something that people looked forward to instead of something that was a bathroom break.

I would not be upset if he went in as a Diamondback, but I think it would be nice to see him as a Mariner, especially if he and Griffey were inducted in the same year.

  • Jorge Cantu, Gaby Sanchez, Dallas McPherson and Wes Helms. How do the corners shake out for the Marlins?

As an Angels fan, Dallas was a guy we waited...and waited...and waited on, and maybe we'll still be waiting. There's not a lot of coverage for the Marlins, but I am curious to see if he will get the job, if Gaby Sanchez will get the job or if Cantu is going to have to move over to 1B yet again and/or have Wes Helms on the field with him.

Will the young guys like Gaby and Dallas flame out? Will either break out? Will Cantu get traded if these guys can play?

The corner infield in Florida is a pretty interesting scenario. Sound off.

  • Are Skype phones eligible for free, unlimited Skypeout?

Many of the products I have seen make it sound as if you can have free, unlimited calls - as long as it's to another PC using Skype. But if you have the unlimited $2.95/mo plan, can you assign it to D-Link's USB adapter, the Netgear WiFi phone or any of the other models, or do they use per-minute billing?

    Thanks in advance.

The Lakers are way over the cap and need some depth. I think they should think about trying to find someone to take Odom.

  • Immigrating to Canada today, what should I expect at the border?

I am re-asking this question because all five answers I got were completely worthless. Here is my original text in quotes:

"I'll be arriving by car at the border today with my two teenage kids. How long does the interview take and what sort of questions will they ask? Or better, how do I prep two teenagers whose every answers are "I dunno", "whatever" and "umm sure"? Even if they had an interest in the immigration process, they really know nothing about it and I don't want their non-answers to create problems. All they know is that they want to go live in Canada now and they don't really understand how that happens or what had to be done to get them approved.

After that, how long until I get my PR card and how quickly can I begin to apply for our SINs, my licence, etc?

I've been told by some people that the interview is basically them doing next to nothing but verifying the info and issuing my paperwork down to it being a full-blown interview with "gotcha" questions.

Also, we can only bring so much stuff during this trip. I'll have to make several trips to bring our belongings. Will that matter now and in the future?

    Thanks a lot."

A few things. If you don't have any personal experience with this, why answer?

Obviously, if I am going for my interview that means I am done. You don't get an interview if you are not approved. I don't need to know how to apply, or to get a job or anything like that. It's all irrelevant because I am finished with the process.

When I show up at the border with my documentation and DO MY LANDING, what do CSIS ask/do?

After that, I will get my entry visa. And then they will mail my PR card. Between now and the time I receive my PR card, how long will it take and what sort of delays (if any) will I have in applying for my SIN, licence, etc. I know how to do it, I know where to go, I already live in Canada and have bank accounts, etc. I left to submit for out-of-land sponsorship. I am simply asking what my interim wait times are before I can begin applying for the documents I need. If it is going to take a few weeks, I need to adjust my plans.

Thanks in advance - hopefully I can get some serious answers from people who have recently immigrated, done their interview and gotten sorted for their documents.

  • How will the Pistons use Anthony Carter with Chauncey Billups at PG?

First off, I want to say that this trade is pretty stupid from the Nuggets team perspective, but I guess it's a front office move, so...

Anyway, Anthony Carter has looked pretty good this year. I can't see moving Melo to SG. They are terrible at SF. And Martin can't play SF and I don't know where they're going to get quality out of McDyess, either.

JR Smith is a pretty one-dimensional guy. He can shoot threes. Carter cannot shoot threes as well, but is a better passer and plays a little better defense.

My instinct would be to have Carter out there 30+ minutes a game at SG. What will they do?

  • Devin Hester vs Lance Moore. Give me your best argument for one over the other.?

I'm not convinced who I am starting. I won't say as to not influence anything one way or another. Assume you're talking me into it.

My concern with Hester is that he's not a #1 or #2 WR and that the Vikings seem to be on the uptick as far as defense goes. The temptation is that even with as good as Minnesota is, if someone is likely to break a big play, it's Hester. I feel like it's risky as he could get nothing or get a lot. But he's not going to get 8 looks, 6 receptions and 82 yards and a TD.

My concern with Moore is that he has to compete with Shockey and Colston for looks now. I am also concerned that without Bush being 100% that the Saints might become one-dimensional. The upside with Moore is that Brees targeted him more than any other QB targeted their top WR in the past few weeks. There's a chance that even though he's got two better targets in Shockey and Colston that he might want to keep throwing the ball Moore's way. But with so many receivers on the Saints, the odds are not good that he'll be the recipient of a TD. He might get that 6 rec, 82 yard game, however.

My other WRs are Braylon and Muhsin, so I have the big-play breakout guy and the steady possession guy. I could go either way and use Hester in a feast or famine thing or play it close to the vest and bet on steady points with Moore.

Sound off. Most compelling argument gets the W.

  • Any Steelers, Bills or OJ Simpsons fans care to explain this picture?

Did he lose a bet or something? Finally get some taste? Were they out of 0-4 Super Bowl hats?

I found it randomly while surfing the web and was wondering if there might be a story behind this:

  • Could the Vikings use Daunte Culpepper? Is Tarvaris Jackson their future? And what if he gets hurt?

Daunte officially retired today. If rumour is to be believed, he was so arrogant with the Steelers during interviews that he actually wanted to compete for Roethlisberger's job, as opposed to be #2 or #3 with Byron Leftwich where he could have had 4-1 odds to simply collect a ring.

I think that has probably turned every team off to him. But if Tarvaris fails or struggles, what veteran quarterbacks are there who could fill in? Culpepper seems an obvious choice as the organisation and he have some level of familiarity.

Would you consider Culpepper for the Vikings? And which QBs would be able to be pulled off of the scrap heap to guide the Vikings? Personally, I was amazed they passed on Leftwich.

  • Had The Police survived as long as U2, would they have surpassed them in popularity and album sales?

I ask that because I was watching a documentary on The Police tonight, and Stewart Copeland remarked how they quit at their peak. But U2, a similar act, had they quit, I think they might have thought they were at their peak. U2 completely re-invented themselves in the 90's. One can say U2 did not even hit their stride when Copeland claims The Police had nowhere to go but down.

The Police sold 50 million records. U2 has sold 170 million records. Sting has sold 50 million records on his own. Personally, I never really cared for much of his solo stuff, so the premise of the question would be that he might have had a higher total had he stayed with The Police.

Another thing I will pose is that the absence of The Police allowed U2 to take their place, and had The Police continued on, U2 may have never been able to surpass them.

I think there are a lot of interesting explanations and possibilities, but I'd like to hear what others have to say about what might have been.

  • What's the best way to be a bassist and not be lazy?

My daughter wants to play bass "because it's easy", but plays no other instruments. When I took theory and musicianship in college, we all had to play piano. I took guitar as well. She has no interest in anything but bass.

One way or another, I think you need a more traditional instrument to learn theory and to compose music. I also think that just because one can play the bass, it does not mean they can play guitar. Banjo, probably. But not guitar. If you can play guitar, you can play bass. Advantage=guitar.

Prove me wrong. Or prove me right. And if you have any words of wisdom/support for her opinion, do share.

  • Why was CB radio illegal in the UK?

I was reading Wikipedia about the awful trucker film "Convoy" and it mentioned that the popularity of the film led to widespread CB adoption in the UK, and because of that, CB radios were legalised.

It would never occur to me that something so fundamental to wireless communication would be illegal, but then again, this a country where people walk around with antennae trying to determine if people have unlicenced TVs.

Does anyone know why CBs were illegal, and also what and was the status of ham/shortwave radio at the time compared to the regulations require to operate that equipment?
