  • Looking for song title. British-sounding song from 1980s?

It's slow and brooding and may mention "pocket full of roses" or "rain". A male is singing. Trying to figure this out for my cousin :-) Any guesses?

  • Post Any Song To YouTube LEGALLY?

Few people know this Law even exists but if you put this disclaimer in the description of the song you're posting then they cannot legally remove the otherwise copyrighted music. This must be typed in EXACTLY to evolk your rights to upload.

    Here it is:

NOTICE: Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use.

So as long as you're posting it for Comment, etc..and NOT making money from it; they can't (and won't) remove the song. Example: Prince doesn't allow any of his songs to be posted in YouTube videos but the very few that have this disclaimer; he can not have them remove. It's an old law that few people know about... but you guys ROCK and should know about it so you can comfortably post those songs we never get to hear anymore on youtube.

BQ: Prince, Prince And The Revolution, Prince And The New Power Generation, The Symbol Formerly Known As... Or just Prince again... Which era is the best, in your opinion. I'm going with The Revolution period :)

  • Pink Floyd Fans................?

Useless Information #2015: When going into the studio to record the follow-up to The Wall; Roger Waters presented the other 3 members Two different concepts; The first was a continuation of the story told on The Wall (The Final Cut) and the 2nd concept was about a crippled boy communicating through computers and radio waves (Radio KAOS). The other members hated the concept for Radio KAOS so they recorded The Final Cut; which led to the tensions that saw Roger leaving the band. They were originally going to have another Full Movie to accompany The Final Cut but due to the tensions within the band they decided to instead make a Mini-movie as the "official" sequel to The Wall. Here's a link to that Mini-movie in FULL! Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPPpJCZb-%E2%80%A6 My only complaint with this is it contains the censored version of 'Not Now John' (Roger's Ode to John Lennon) replacing the word F&*% with the word "Stuff" so the choir sings "stuff all that!" instead...lol :)

BQ: Favorite solo song by Roger Waters & David Gilmour. :)

  • Last One: What band/performer has stepped out of their respecitive genres to crossover and leave an impact on?

Rock Music. You know, they may have a country following, pop following, spanish standards following but then they cross-over and do some rock music. My question is who do you thing (using above guidelines) has managed to be a huge influence on Rock; even though it wasn't their regular genre.

My choice would be The Charlie Daniels Band. He is much a rocker as he is an Americana musician, country, bluegrass, whatever. His cross-0vers have inspired more rockers than I believe any of us could possibly realize.

So who do you think influenced rock with their cross-over succes?

  • New Star Wars Twists!?

    These are facts (lol):

Star Wars came out in 1977 so it was (probally) written in 1975 or 1974 and filmed in 75/76.

George has always said his original choice for 'Han Solo' was Nick Nolte, who turned down the role thinking the movie would blow chunks.

Okay, the following is my own pure speculation. I've never read nor heard anyone else with this theory. So here's my theory. lol

Star Wars has always basically been a 'western in space'. A couple of years ago I caught an episode of 'Gunsmoke' on tv called 'The Tarnished Badge'. Matt Dillion captures a fugitive and returns him to the town of his old buddy, Sheriff Bo Harker. Here's the catcher: Sheriff Bo Harker runs a very tight town. All the citizens are polite in public but fear him in private. Kinda like an 'old republic'. Sheriff Bo Harker is dressed in black. From head to toe. Just like Darth Vader. Along the way Dillion meets a young Lonnie Weeks, who along with other townfolk, have been trying to orchestrate a rebellion against the Sheriff. Matt and the Sheriff go way back and Matt has nothing but praise for his old friend and how good of a man he was. Then comes 'Barney Austin' who's played by NICK NOLTE and dressed EXACTLY like 'Han Solo'. His girlfriend even has the Princess Leia hair-do! When Dillion discovers the townfolk's fears after witnessing the Sheriff stranglehold an old lady, Matt Dillion & townsfolk deploy a plan (ehr...rebellion) to overthrow the Sheriff; allowing 'Barney Austin' to become the new Sheriff. When Dillion finally confronts his old friend in black he speaks of him turning from 'good to bad'. At the very end, Sheriff Bo Harker realizes his mistakes; cries and asks for forgiveness; much in the same way at the end of 'Return Of The Jedi'.

There are MANY MORE simularities in this episode!

I have found the episode (FINALLY) on the internet! It's Gunsmoke: The Tarnished Badge (Season 20, Epis. 4) and if any Star Wars fans are interested, you'll be very glad you watched it. Here's the link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0594524/ Please leave comments now AND later, if you watch this great episode and let me know if my theory might be something...lol :)

    Thanks All!

Since the episode aired in '74, it's possible George was watching it while working on his script. lol
