  • Who is sick of hearing about Michael Jackson?!?

Okay, I know, this just continues it, but hear me out. Who is actually sick of hearing about him, especially how 'wonderful' he was? I am. As far as I'm concerned he is a glorified child molester, regardless of what the courts say.

  • Is it true about tipping?

My husband and I are leaving for Vegas on Wednesday. I heard that if you slip $20 when you check in, they may give you a room upgrade. Is this true? I kind of feel skeevy about it, but not enough to not do it if it works :)

  • Razor in food, what would you do?

Hi all, I may have selected the wrong category, but wanted to ask in the right area. I went to make tacos tonight and typically grill 2 corn tortillas at once. When I went to scoop out the tortillas, one had what appeared to be tinfoil on it. When I looked closer, there was a piece of a razor blade in it!

I'm upset that I could've accidentally been cut, or ingested it, or worse, that my husband could have.

What would you do, would you go directly to the company?

  • Transportation to Fremont?

My hubby and I are flying in to Vegas after 10pm. Our hotel is on Fremont St, and we are trying to determine the cheapest/best way to get there. This is our 3rd trip to Vegas, but first time off the strip. Are there shuttles that take you down there (our hotel doesn't have a complimentary one)? Do they run after 10pm? Is a taxi faster/cheaper than the $12 or so to take the shuttle? Any help would be appreciated!

  • Decent and cheap food in Vegas?

We are going to Vegas for the 3rd time. Does anyone have recommendations on where to eat on the strip or downtown? In the past we ate at House of Blues, Rio Buffet, Le Creprie, and a couple others. We are hoping for feedback on other places that may be good but not terribly expensive. We heard Kahunaville, ESPN Zone, and El Diablo are ok?

  • Do you have a phobia? If so, what is it?

My husband just got stung by a wasp. I am absolutely terrified of bees, wasps, etc, mostly because I'm allergic. Even if I wasn't though, they just freak me out. I nearly cry if I'm too close to one...not that it stops me from going camping, etc :) I'm just wondering what people are afraid of in general, and what they do to manage their fear.

  • Is there a big difference between boats?

Is there a big difference between aluminum or wood row boats? We've been looking online and in some ways the aluminum is cheaper. What are the pros and cons? Is one more sturdier than the other, or does one hold more weight?

  • Increase in resale with upgrades?

I've heard that remodeling the kitchen and bathroom is the best way to increase the resale value of the home. Does anyone know the approximate value increase overall? We were thinking of granite countertops which would run about $2400 & replacing laminate with stone tile in the kitchen. (Have to replace laminate, previous owners has cigarette burns in it). We live in a condo so the floor in the kitchen is smallish, so I can't anticipate the kitchen being more than $6000 total to do both floor and counters. We're just trying to figure out if it is worth it to do so.

  • Nashville - Where is the best place?

to eat or visit? My husband and I are going there next year on vacation. We would love to know some of the inside information on the best places to eat and visit. We've looked at the website and found Jack's BBQ, and then of course the Grand Ole Opry, etc to visit. Any tips would be appreciated.

  • Food Pyramid Substitution?

I spoke with my physcian and find I should start losing weight. Due to family history and my current weight, she suggested a 1500 calorie diet, and a reduction in pasta/breads, etc. For 1500 the servings are as follows:

    6 oz. lean meat/protein

    6 servings bread/starch

    4 servings fruit

    5 or more servings vegetables

2 servings dairy (low fat preferred)

    3 servings fat

I would like to reduce the starch/breads by one or two servings and would like to sub protein or low fat dairy, but will this work, or is it counter productive?

  • Electrical question?

For about 2 weeks the lights have flickered in our bathroom when 1 particular light was turned on. Initially I thought the bulb was going bad, and then I realized it was most likely a short within that particular switch.

We have 3 switches next to each other..the regular with a short, the middle heat lamp one, and then the fan...so we've been using the middle one. A bit ago I wasn't paying attention and I went into the bathroom to grab a scrunchie and flipped the switch. The lights flashed on then out, and I immediately switched it off. When I did, I noticed sparks.

So I have a 2 part question: 1) is it even safe to use the middle switch at this point, and 2) how difficult is it to fix the shorted fuse?

  • Clingy Cat?

I've seen it asked before, but have to ask. My husband and I have 3 cats - two of which are sisters. All are adults, but the sisters are about 2 years older than the other. When I am home I am constantly giving them attention. When my husband and I got together I already had the 2, and one acted jealous and possessive around him. She since accepted him, and now 3 years later...in the last 4 months, she will not leave me alone. She is on my lap as soon as I sit down, meowing at the door if I or my hubby get out of her sight, following me around like a puppy, etc. I have literally sat for hours loving her up and as soon as I put her down she is chasing me down the hall, into the bathroom, and yes, into the shower. Any ideas? I don't think it's lack of attention on our part, and nothing has changed in our lives.

  • Beagle question or for possibly other breed owners?

I have a 3 year old Beagle, and everyonce in awhile his head starts throbbing and pulsating. It's very noticeable, but it's at random times, and there isn't any 'cause' for it that we see. It doesn't happen after he gets in trouble, or when he's sniffing. He'll be sitting there quitely and then it happens. Can anyone give me a reason for this? He's been to the vet for physicals, etc but not specifically for it.

  • How to tone down my drink?

I made a version of the alcoholic drink 'Apple Pie' but I found that I put too much Everclear in it. It is way too strong, even for the heavy drinkers coming to the party. I'd like to tone it down, but I don't have time to run to the store to get more apple juice/cider. I have water, orange juice, carbonated water, tea, and pink lemonade on hand. I'm sure one or some of those can mix, but not sure which will. Any help?

  • Indoor Exercise?

I'm looking for some potential indoor exercises I can do. This past week the weather has been horrid where I live (high winds, constant rain, flooding in areas) so I haven't gotten out to walk like I've done the last few weeks. Are there indoor exercises I can do to sub for walking, while I wait for the weather to better?

  • Weight Loss and Exercise?

I'm 5'9, 274lbs, I know, a fatty :). I'm an administrative assistant, so I haven't exercised much. My doctor told me I need to lose weight (no big surprise there). I went from a non-exercising day to walking 20 minutes a day and cutting calories. It's been 3 days and haven't heard back from my dr, so wanted to ask if anyone knew, based on the above info, how many calories I should intake for a healthy weight loss? I don't want to go into starvation mode.
