Is there a historical or logical reason? My coworkers are complaining about misdialed 911 calls and I'm curious for a more intelligent answer then their "yah, it's stupid"

in a sentence constructed like so... "I dropped an egg on the concrete and it cracked." There's a humorous uncertainty as to whether the egg or concrete cracked. What is this called if anything?

Or is it a waste of time and/or resources? Is the unsolved nature of such a high profile case an ongoing embarrassment? Is public curiosity reason enough to continue the search? Is it an exercise in refining investigative techniques? Since there's no statute of limitations on murder, do you think the pursuit of justice is reason enough? I just want to hear your answer and your logic.

Specifically if there were a total meltdown at a nuclear reactor (god forbid). I presume the energy would be dissipated gradually thru the melting of various materials on its way down. It would also encounter pressurized rock with a high melting point would it not? The earth's core is some 1800 miles below the surface and it would seem absurd to me it could penetrate this far. Please elaborate and/or correct me thanks!

Is safe to conclude that in a hurricane moving at a decent clip (such as Earl) the strongest winds will be where the forward wind speed combines with the counterclockwise rotation. Keeping things in the four cardinal directions.... If a storm is moving north, the East side will be strongest. Moving west, the North side will be strongest. Moving south, the West side will be strongest. Moving east, the South side will be strongest. The side opposite to the strongest will be weakest. Any exception would be pretty darn rare no?

Are we headed down a dark road or is there hope or perhaps both or neither?
