  • Is there any film/tv work for actors left in Los Angeles, or is it all moving out of Los Angeles?

Thinking about moving to finally start my career, especially given the town I live in I no longer have anything really tying me to anymore, an was wondering if there is any work to be had in Los Angeles, or if I am better off considering a more regional market.

  • What can I do about a potential gf's(my best friend) overbearing mother who hates me?

I won't get into too much details about why, but my best friend's mother is still holding a grudge against me for a major mistake I made seven years ago(one which brought my best friend and I closer together in the end). My friend and I obviously got over it, and now we are seriously talking about dating(a rarity that best friends end up together, but an amazing thing), but she is most worried about what to do about her mother and I am certainly concerned as well. Her mother would likely try to interfere, though I told my friend that I would be willing to face any difficulty, as long as we did it together(I have been into her a lot longer than we have been talking about dating). Now, my family, conversely, loves her, so there is little to worry about there, save for the occasional problematic family members that are a problem to society at large. Any advice on this situation would be most appreciated.

  • Is it ok to wear a white linen jacket to a summer casual/semi-casual wedding?

Ok, this isn't a full white suit, which would be over the top, but I am thinking about my more casual off-white linen (designer) jacket(I think it's a sport coat) for a family wedding I have to go to next Saturday. I will be wearing dark(but not black) pants and a light yellow short sleeve shirt. Was wondering if I should consider the jacket to give me some layering options, or if my date(she is wearing a slinky little pink number that is tasteful but very nice) get's cold so I can offer her my jacket(I am a southerner, so we are gentlemen like that...at least the good ones of us anyway). I am not sure how the ban against white at a wedding applies to male guests, so any help that could be given here would be most appreciated.

  • How should I interpret a set of several tarot readings with similar meanings, over a couple months?

First of all, a quick note, so I get useful answers: I use tarot as insight to my life and the lives of particular friends. If you are going to just answer about them being fake or evil, don't bother answering.

I have been reading for clues about my best friend and I, and what our shared destiny may be(she(yes, I am a guy with a female best friend) and I keep popping in and out of each other's lives, especially at the time of greatest need. I have been reading the cards for years, so am a talented cartomancer, but have never had this kind of a situation pop up before. I do compartmentalize as much as possible to stay objective, but for the past two months, there have been repeated readings that all indicate the same general meaning.

My question comes down to not the interpretation of the meaning, but if the collective meaning of the readings(and there were no less than 10, asked in various ways using different spreads), can be trusted as accurate.

  • How do Kenwood, Sony, and Clarion compare to Alpine in sound quality?

I just received a car as a gift recently(older one, with an old stereo), and I am looking to upgrade the stereo. I already know the features I want, so the only question is on brand now. I already eliminated Pioneer due to over-accentuated bass on the models in my price range(</= $250), though their speakers are the best I have found locally so far. As a recording musician, there are some critical listening needs that require a balanced sound, though clearly it will only be testing out the recordings I need a car stereo for in that aspect. The JVCs I got a chance to listen had a fairly balanced sound, with just a bit of bass(just enough for percussion, which is what I expect), with Alpine being similar. My question is, in over all sound quality, how does the overall sound quality present on Kenwood, Sony, and Clarion receivers in my price range. Also, any info on build quality would also be appreciated, since I have no intention of replacing it for a few years at least, since I have little income and have to stretch it out.

  • How do I get out of this "friend zone" situation?

I have been circling with the same person for about seven years now. Keep in mind, though, that she does listen to me when I offer advice, and we do have a strong connection and good chemistry. None of that is the problem. She is also now getting out of the phase of dating jerks, largely due to circumstances in her life and some advice I offered her(not occurring to me at the time that it benefited me), so I know I am right on the edge of getting out of the friend zone with her. She does have a very young child, so I am keeping that in mind with every move I make. I am 33 and she is 27. We also almost dated years ago when we first met, so I know it isn't impossible. What advice can you give to pushing myself the rest of the way out of the friend zone with her and into a full on relationship?

  • At what age do we find Oedipus in Oedipus the King(Oedipus Rex/Oedipus Tyrranus)?

I am considering performing a monologue from one of the Greek plays for one of my classical monologue options, and am considering Oedipus the King for one of my options. I am a 33 year old beginning actor, and while I am familiar with the play, I still need some assistance with the age. All I have found out so far is that he was young when he slew his father, though that can certainly be a variety of ages, and that it was about 12 years after he slew his father that the play begins. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

  • Does anyone have any tips for memorizing monologues?

I typically don't have a lot of trouble memorizing anything(I am known for quoting Shakespeare quite easily), but I have to have two classical and two contemporary monologues memorized, along with staging. Does anyone have any tips they can share?

  • Should I choose Mexico(Caribbean), Jamaica, or Dominican Republic for the end of January?

I am looking for a good spa vacation(I am a guy, but this is to help me relax and prepare my body and mind before some big auditions), but also want some activities and excursions available. While I have been to the Mayan Riviera before, and enjoyed it for the day I was there, I do not know how it would compare to the others, and I will likely travel alone.

  • Is it advisable for men to wear a bit of stage makeup for auditions?

I am not talking about more than base really to keep glare from happening, but I would like to know if this is a wise idea or not. I have important auditions, including my first professional one, coming up over the next few months and want to make sure I get all details right.

  • What are some good, authentic Colombian restaurants in the New York City area?

I am going to be in New York City in a week and have a bit of disposable cash, and have been craving some Colombian food, but it has to be authentic, because I have been to Colombia before and know the real deal. I don't mind traveling outside of Manhattan in order to find it either. If anyone has any restaurant suggestions, I would most appreciate it.

  • What do her mixed signals mean?

First of all, know I am 31 and can read women pretty well, but in this particular case there are a lot of mixed signals. She tells me she isn't interested, but we talk and flirt every day, she always laughs at my usually corny jokes. She looks at me as a trusted confident, I am clear on that, and has told me she tends to play guys, but won't play me. However, she doesn't want to hang out, even as friends, so it leaves me wondering if she is interested or not. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

  • I have three days for a Caribbean trip. Should I choose Dominican Republic or Jamaica?

I am single, for now, and I am looking at a couple of options for late this year(Between October and early December). It will either be Montego Bay, Jamaica or Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My main concern is with activities in these areas, as I have never been. This isn't my first time in the Caribbean or Latin America, so I do know the basic travel safety things to look out for. I am hoping someone can give me some insight on these two options.

  • Is it time to cut this friend out of my life?

I have a friend who seemingly only wants me around when she needs a shoulder to cry on. She never invites me to hang out with her, other than the occasional time at her place or her stopping by occasionally. I am not wanting to be the guy she dumps all of her problems on, and never get any benefit from the friendship......even if it is only going out once in a while. Granted, there is a history there, but she is clearly not interested, so I am less worried about that than I am about what to do about the friendship is if this is all I am to her.

  • Do women ever change their mind about friends and become more than friends?

I have a friend(my best friend in fact) that I have been in love with for five years. She keeps insisting I am only a friend to her. Is it possible to change her mind about me(and I am pretty much the kind of guy she keeps saying she wants), or do I have to move on?

  • How long do I need to give a woman after her divorce before I ask her out?

I have a friend who is getting a divorce that I am interested in trying to date, but am not sure how long after the divorce finalizes to give her. I knew her before her and her husband met, and she is my best friend. While I know I have to wait until after the divorce is final, I don't know how long I need to wait. Her husband, being an a**hole, did threaten me just for joking with her, so not too worried about him.

  • Would a woman play hard to get if she is into a guy?

I have this very adorkable friend who I constantly flirt with, and she flirts back, and we have a very playful friendship, but she holds me at arms length not letting me take it to the next level. Is it possible she is interested?

  • Is it ok to consider asking out an old love interest going through a divorce?

I have this really good friend, and honestly I still can't imagine how I lived before knowing her(she's that great just as a friend), who is going through a divorce from her controlling husband. No chance of reconciliation. When we first met 5 years ago, she was having issues with a guy she was engaged to, so I am in no way unfamiliar with her relationship troubles. She and I went on one date(very uncomfortable, but we are comfortable around each other) and nearly ended up dating longer term, but she chose someone else at the time. Now that time has passed and she has had more experiences, I am wondering if it would be ok to ask her out when the time is right?

  • Should I be concerned that a woman I am into said she doesn't know if she ever wants to get married?

The topic of marriage in general comes up, often jokingly, between us all the time. I know it is a ways off anyway, since we aren't dating yet, but I am wondering if her mentioning that she isn't sure that she would ever want to get married would affect the potential relationship building between us and how it would, considering I am very much interested in eventually marrying and hope it will be her that I marry when that time comes. I know some of you will say take it a step at a time, and I am so I am more concerned if this may have any short term implications in our potential relationship(and by potential I mean on the verge of being more than just good friends) before we are ready to consider marriage.

  • Does anyone know where I can order custom paint for a street motorcycle helmet?

I know there are plenty of places that do custom work on motorcross helmets, but I am looking for somewhere that can do a good job on a custom paint job for a full face street helmet. Any suggestions?
