I did a year of Psychology and loved every minute of the subject, I even enjoyed going away and researching a topic and having to write a blog post each week about it, argue for it and against others in my class. However, I found that 3/4 of the course were research orientated and I hated them. I didn t find them overly challenging like a lot of people were complaining about they just didn t interest me and had little relevance to my career path. So I m wondering if this would be the case with every university or if each one handles the course differently and some might be more practical and less research heavy. I obviously would expect at least some research but when it is the majority of the course it just seems like a massive waist of time for me anyway.

Like I say, actually learning about the subject was great, I m incredibly fascinated with therapy, mental health and even neuroscience and sociology etc. I even switched to a joint with sociology to see if it was any better but, being the same university, it too was very research heavy and I preferred the psychology side anyway.

I have a collie/ and he is an extremely well behaved dog, about 18 months old now. but recently he has began becoming defensive/protective with food and his bed.

When I feed him I make him sit and wait, which he does. I can even put his food down and go the toilet or make a drink and he'll still be waiting and he'll move away from his food the minute I tell him to. The issue however is that if I go near his food while he's eating he'll growl, bare his teeth or bark. Hasn't snapped yet thankfully. And I'm aware this is natural behavior for a dog but I want to train it out of him so I don't have to worry about my nieces and nephews walking past him etc.

What I've tried so far are;

Initially I would take his bowl and leave it on the top where he can see it and not give it to him for a while after. After reading more into it though I figured that might simply worsen the issue making him more protective of it.

I've started having him sit with us when we eat and then feeding him when we've all finished. Not giving him any scraps either.

At the moment I'm making sure I stand next to his bowl when he eats, he doesn't like it but I can move around and he won't growl or anything but if I move and come back he will. Then I'll say 'no!, 'send him to his bed and make him wait for a while. He can see his food then and I'll carry on moving around his bowl normally. His bed is in our outhouse, between our kitchen and toilet where we have a fridge and bin.

I'm going to get my haircut at the end of the week and as I can never tell what would suit me or find anything that looks good and is close to my hair type and hairdressers just seem to always pick the first hairstyle I show them I thought I'd ask you lot. I'll link some pictures of hairstyles I've had from long to short and some styles I like or think might work on my Photobucket, hopefully that will help a bit. I think it looks quite bad when the back and sides are too short and when it gets long it just looks scruffy, although that might be because I let it grow and then cut it short again rather than getting it tidied or restyled long.

Any advice would be great, just keep in mind I'm crap at making it do... stuff... so if the style you recommend would require styling everyday or something some tips on how to do so would be great too.

Anyone know any software that will monitor how many read/writes my hdd gets in a day/week? I'm trying to get a more accurate idea of how long an ssd will last me basically.

I have a bunch of files I have downloaded via utorrent but I did a bunch of stuff on my PC and switched torrent clients etc. So I have no idea which need deleting/are not complete so is there a way to check without going through each file or re-searching for each exact torrent on the web and re-adding then re-checking with my new client? I have literally amassed hundreds of these potentially incomplete torrent files due to numerous moves, switches and re-installs of operating systems. I've since learned to have a folder for all the .torrent files, complete torrents and incomplete torrents but I really don't wont to loose so many files that I'll most likely never find again (I have a terrible memory) but I also have this 200GB+ folder of files that I am not using because of this (when I come across an incomplete file it totally messes up my workflow). I have a number of the .torrent files left so I suppose I could just add them and recheck everything in Transmission, is there a way to do this without totally cluttering it with dozens of these torrents and loosing my active ones in the mess? Either way I'll still be left with a heck of a lot of torrents without the corresponding .torrent files so I'd still need a solution for those.

Any help/tips would be brilliant.

If a country/government were to test people and place them in appropriate fields, semi-dictate their freedom and elect rulers based on Intelligence and ability be? By semi-dictate I mean essentially give them basic freedom too just enough freedom to let them convince themselves they are free. I was thinking it would be a mix of Meritocracy and either Communism or Totalitarianism but I was wondering if there was an actual name for something closer to that?

First of all I'd like to point out that I hate the fact that this is something I'm seriously considering. Some background: The parent is my older step sister who I'll call V. and she practically raised me when I was young. The problem is that she has gradually deteriorated and succumbed to Alcoholism and Depression over the last 7 or so years. She has always had issue with alcoholism and depression but they have worsened over the years. She has been offered plenty of help and her mother who went to rehab and stuff has done nothing, she also still drinks (but as she says 'only wickeds' which just happens to be for most of the day). My Dads mum was an alcoholic, my step sisters my was/is an alcoholic and her step brother (from her mums marriage before my dad) is too. He's worse as he's started turning yellow but he is purely self destructive and not abusive etc. My dad has had issue with alcohol but has never been abusive and drinks in moderation now sometimes going weeks with out touching the stuff. So she's had a hard past but she should know better and not put her kids through worse.

V. have harassed my parents for years (she would call relentlessly, scream at and blame them for everything) and her and her partner assaulted my parents the new years before last and the police got involved but still allowed them to take they're 4th child who was 2 with them. She used to beat her oldest son. We've getting the kids but they're father is spineless and just nods but does...

I have a seagate momentus xt 1tb with my OS on and a seagate barracuda 2tb for storage and my question is; would it be better to make a second partition on my sshd (momentus XT) for steam and perhaps Adobe CC suite or have steam etc on the second hdd? My sshd gets speeds up to 160mb/s where as my hdd (barracuda) only gets up to 40mb/s. I also have another momentus xt which is 750gb another barracuda which is 3tb and a cheap green label 1tb which I think might actually be 5200rpm lol. I have two PC's my main one is twice as powerful as the other. I was planning on setting things up as follows:

PC 2 (less powerful) :

750gb sshd with OS on partition 1 and steam and other often used programs that I want running fast on a second partition. And I'd put the 1tb hdd in with 1 partition for storage, media etc.

PC 1 (main PC, most powerful):

1tb sshd set the same way and my 2tb barracuda for the same purpose as the second drive in PC 2.

And my 3tb barracuda as an external drive for films and tv shows as well as backups and installation files.

Would this be the optimal set up? If the second PC wouldn't be too slow I wouldn't mind just putting the 2tb barracuda in it with two partitions (1 for OS and 1 for storage) and have my two sshds in my main pc. I just don't won't the second one feeling slow as hell when it's actually pretty fast.

I Want to upgrade the HDD in my laptop from the standard 500GB 5400rpm sata 2 that came with it to a 7200rpm but when I tried swapping it for my old sata 1 320gb 7200rpm it wouldn't pick it up internally but I can run the os on it externally. Anyhow I was wondering if anyone knew why that might be and if this (Seagate Momentus 2.5 inch XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200rpm Internal Hard Drive) would work in it instead.

Also is there something I can look up to help find what HDD's will work with my motherboard?

My laptop is an acer aspire 5750 and I've noticed this model comes with lots of different specs so my CPU is the i5-2410m just in case they have different motherboards.

And if you have any hdd's to recommend that would be appreciated too, so long as it's 7200rpm and going to let me make use of the rest of my laptop as this HDD seems to really darg it down.

I'm playing shiaya and running utorrent which conflicts with the ports that shaiya uses I think.

Any idea how I can stop it doing this?

Also I have utorrent on other pcs on the network and they couses issues too.

I'm making a short video and It's going to have an evil character in it so I was wondering if any of you could explain how they did the voice effect that you hear when scott and Ramona are in the desert place and when the main bad guy is dying.

Links to a video tutorial would be really great too.

Also I use After Effects so If I can do it in that please explain how, if not could you please tell me what software I would need.

I'm making a video with after effects and there is going to be a load of fighting and one of the fight scenes will have me fighting my clone with a sword but I'm stuck because I can't figure out how I'm going to make it work with the swords colliding and each clone moving where there supposed to and stuff.

I'm also going to be doing loads of other things with clones lots which which involves them punching each other so this is really a big obstacle for me.

I've made a video where a pick up a cup of tea and gesture to my clone to get then put it down and he picks it up but I still can't figure out how I could pass it (This would be a good place to start i think).

By the way my method of cloning is by getting background footage and footage of each clone and masking around them, don't know if that is the only way or not so I thought I'd mention it. Also I don't really have and can't make a blue/green screen.

I'm looking for a good digital camera for a bout £50, I've seen a bunch on tesco's site and there all roughly the same specs for £40 - £60 so I'm a bit unsure now. at the moment I'm looking thinking about the samsung es28.

I want something that will be good for video as I do a lot of work with after effects, and I want some thing like 12mp and 4x zoom. I don't exactly no most of the video features that are stated on the cameras so if you mention any could you say why they would be helpful.

Also if possible something that won't loose too much quality in poor lighting conditions and something that isn't terrible for batteries would be nice.

I'm trying to make a transition where a sphere fades out from the edges. I've made it fade out from the centre but I'm stuck on how to invert the transition.

I've tried swapping the black and white in the gradient but it doesn't seem to work.

Any ideas?

I'm upgrading my hdd and I need to put my files onto my external hdd without taking up more than 3GB (that's all the free space I have). So I was wondering if there was a way to this like there is when you reinstall you OS and you can keep your old files (I think that takes up very little space right?).

I'm unsure what my deepest fear is, I have three possible choices but I was curious as to whether there is a method which psychologist or someone in a similar profession use to find it.

Also I was wondering what you would recommend if your deepest fear is yourself?

I just bought a fan for the bottom of it but I'm not sure if it is supposed to blow into the bottom or suck from the bottom?

I've tried feeling if the vents at the bottom expel or suck in air but I can't tell. It has vents at the side and I'm positive that it blows the air out there and sucks it in from the bottom.

Trouble is I've put the fan both ways around so it blows into the bottom and sucks out and I think it only made a slight difference.
