  • How do I find a dentist that doesn't price gouge in San Diego?

The last 2 dentists I've used for my family have told me one price and then billed me differently.

I've told them my budget and they say they can do "this much work to help me out".

They plan 2-3 visits. After the work is done they hand me bill higher than expected. Sometimes doubling or tripling the price discussed.

My child's dentist is much better. Any ideas?

  • 1st wedding. questions i should ask couple getting married as a photographer?

i am new to the wedding area of photography.

I have my first gig coming up in a month.

What are some questions i should ask the couple getting married or maybe things i should know before i show up to the wedding.

I know how to use my camera.

I have the equiptment i need.

But i have never shot a wedding.

I have a list of all the standard formal shots plus a list of other shots that are common for a wedding.

I'm hoping a photographer with experience will tell me something like:

"show up an hour before" or "this kind of filter works well..."

    Any advice would be great.

This couple knows this is my first gig and they have seen some of my past work.

  • My minivan wont start occasionally...any ideas?

The first time this happened was around July. i drove to the store on a saturday. When i got back in the car kicked over then sputtered out. I pumped the gas a few times and tried again. Again. it kicked over then died. I called a tow truck and they told me the wait was around an hour. After 30 minutes i decided to grab a soda but tried it one more time. It started like nothing. I immediately drove it home.

The next day was sunday. i found a mobile mechanic. He came out and guessed based on what i told him that i needed a new fuel filter. He replaced it and the van ran fine a few weeks. Then it happened again. This time another mechanic said it was probably my fuel filter. But that it was hard to tell unless it happened in front of him. So he tested it. He said based on his diagnosis it was a starter issue. So he replaced the starter. Then a few weeks later i was leaving work and it wouldnt start. I got a ride home then my wife dropped me off. The van started fine. Another mechanic guessed the fuel pump. Got THAT replaced. 2 days later same problem. It wont start, then like 30-45 minutes later it starts fine. Sometimes it ont start if it was running a bit. Others its sitting all day and wont start. It has plenty of gas, over half a tank. It has a working battery. It has oil, coolant.

Last 2 times it happened it didnt kick over. it just made a light buzzing noise when i turned the key. Then after 30 minutes kicked over no problem.

Its a 99 plymouth voyager minivan. I know many will say i should get a new vehicle. i agree but money is tight and want to try to get another year or 2 out of it.

  • does anyone know where there are gated play areas in south san diego?

i have 2 kids. one is 3, the other is almost 2. It is hard to take them to the park alone because they tend to scatter. When i was a kid there was a park in chula vista that had a gate around the play area. The parents could stand by the entrance and would know the kids arent wandering off.

    Any ideas?

  • do i need to schedule employees the same amount of hours?

im a mid level supervisor at my job.

I have an employee who is alaways complaining that we dont give an equal amount of hours to all of our employees. We do not show any favortism but certain employees do get more hours because they are more available. (everything is documented)

I was wondering if there was anything saying that i "HAD" to work employees an equal amount of hours if possible. Or if i wanted to i could blatantly work certain employees more...

This question is more for my curiousity than anything else.

I work in California if that matters.

  • can any mechanics give me advice? 99 voyager minivan?

Hopefully someone can give me advice.

I have a '99 Plymouth Voyager Mini van.

Older yes but still only has 110K miles.

YES, i need to get a new one but hoping to make it another 6 months.

    Heres the issue.

Around 3 months ago i ran errands. 2-3 stops.

On the 3rd stop it wouldnt restart.

It had gas and wasn't overheating.

When i turned the key it kicked over but sputtered out.

    I tried again... samething.

I tried pumping the gas, then flooring the pedal it kicked over yet sputtered out again.

At that point i got out. Checked water/coolant, oil, etc.

It was a a Saturday, But i called for a tow. They told me it would be around 45 minutes. So i sat and waited. After about an hour of waiting i got bored and decided to try it again.

The engine kicked right over. like if nothing had happened.

So i drove home and called a mobile mechanic.

He came out next day and looked at it.

He suggested a new fuel filter and a tune up/oilchange.

it ran fine for 3-4 months.

    Then last weekend same thing.

I ran a few errands. Then suddenly it kicked over and sputtered out.

I was low on gas that time, but not empty. But decided to get the gas can and put in a gallon. I put in a gallon. Still wouldn't start.

I waited like 30-40 minutes then it started up with no problems and i drove home.

I drove it all week. No problem.

Any ideas? i want to resolve this before it happens again.

    Thanks.

  • My neighbor complains about my noise. My rights? I'm in California.?

My wife runs a day care from our home.

We were Recently very rudely confronted about our noise. He said he's lived in our neighborhood for 27 years and he never thought a daycare would move in.

My wife and her staff have around 10 kids during the day. Our back yards are adjacent. So during the day the kids go outside to play from 9:30am to 10:15. And another 2 times during the day. Maybe 2-3 hours total. The kids are playing. The staff do not let them scream or yell but they do make noise.

The neighbor looked over our fence a few times and yelled at my wife.

This time he did it on a weekend.

I was home so I got right up to our fence and looked over to his yard. He didn't like it.

After he saw a man in the yard he yelled less but was saying he was real tired of the noise.

We don't want to break the rules but I don't want to let this guy push us around either. We are very quiet in the evening.

If he hates kids and noise they have retirement communities.

I know he shouldn't have to move but I have rights too.

Anyone ever had similar problems with this?

  • what are some free websites for beginner photographers to share photos?

Looking for help from seasoned photographers.

I am trying to start a freelance photography business.

I'm in need a website (like flickr) where i can upload my pictures.

basically have a place where i can have potential clients see my work.

I want to have a free website to start, and pay for a better one when i actually have more money coming in.

It seems that lots of photographers use flickr, but i do not want to if its "lame"

is there another website that may come across a little more professional?

I know the work should speak for itself, but just dont want to pick flickr

if it would be a mistake or if there is a better option.

I am just starting out, had to drop a lot of money on a good, camera, lighting, backdrops, etc.

I want to have a free website to start, and pay for a better one when i actually have more money coming in.

Also, if there are multiple sites, please give pros and cons if any.

    Thanks a lot.

  • photoshop saved photos suddenly unreadable. What's wrong?

I've had photoshop on my Mac computer for a few years now.

I use it to clean up photos, edit, whatever.

    Always worked fine.

Yesterday i tried to upload a photo onto iphoto and it said that

the import failed because it was an unreadable file.

I always save as a jpg. I thought nothing of it at first,

maybe a fluke with iphoto but i put the same file on a

flash drive and took it to TARGET to print out the picture

and it was unreadable there too.

    Any ideas?
