  • Can you disapprove of the way someone is living and not HATE them?

I asked a question last night about some atheists just assuming that Christians HATE gays and atheists. (I do not assume all gays are atheists--for clarification).

I was a bit shocked when one person said that you cant wish to change someones heart (lead them to conversion) without looking down on them and hating them.....

I just do not see it that way. I genuinely do not think I hate anyone.....

  • Why do people assume Christians HATE gays, blacks, athiests?

I was just reading a question and that was the light in which it was phrased. I guess I am a bit taken aback. As a Christian who is called to love---there is really no one that I hate. I have friends that I love dearly that are all races and many gay friends ......

I dont know about the whole race issue and how that comes into play. There are plenty of Black Christians.....

And Athiests and gay people----hey, that is what free will is all about. I choose to attempt to change their hearts by love---hate never converts anyone!

So....why the assumption that Christians HATE??

  • What is it with people believing the 'Rapture'?

I mean it is just WRONG. The doctrine of the Rapture is not mentioned in any Christian writings, of which we have knowledge, until after the year 1830 A.D. Whether the early writers were Greek or Latin, Armenian or Coptic, Syrian or Ethiopian, English or German, orthodox or heretic, no one mentioned a syllable about it.

How can people buy into this? Not one orthodox mainstream Christian denomination holds this to be truth.

  • Pro-choice and Christian?

What do you think about Christian politicians who claim to be Pro-choice? Should they be allowed to be active participants in a particular denomination? I know there is a lot of talk about Bishops with-holding communion from Catholics.....

  • Forgiveness of sins.....Can priests do that?

On another question someone posted this as An answer :

since in the Bible it states that forgiveness comes only through Christ that the Catholic church is wrong to believe that you can have forgiveness by paying a penance or asking a Priest instead of Christ. Since this goes against what Christ said, that is why a lot of people think the Catholic Church is "not Christian".

So that we are clear, the Church states that Christ is the one that forgives the sin....the Priest acts 'in persona' of Christ. It actually IS biblical for the priest to act in this capacity.----"As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. . . . Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained" (John 20:21–23).

So, any better reasons why people think that Catholics are not Christians?

  • Adult Stem Cell research?

I am wondering why people are still touting the wonderfulness of embryonic stem cells which have not been proven to be effective at all---when we SHOULD be pouring money into Adult Stem Cell research since they are plentiful (umbilical cords and many humans available) and they have been PROVEN to be effective?

Why are people still getting caught up in this political quagmire when we could be doing real good!!!

  • Cancer--end of life care?

My husband has been battling cancer for about 15 months now. At the last visit the doctor suggested we start considering 'end of life' care. He is already in quite a bit of pain. I think we will be calling a pain clinic next week.

Anyone have experience with someone dying of cancer. We are young---36 & 38 with three kids under age 12. How much pain can we expect? What is the end like?

I just cant imagine watching him gasp for breath or writhing in pain. That is more scarey than death to me....

  • Jesus is NOT God????

Okay Christians. I just was reading another question and CHRISTIANS were saying that Jesus is not God. It is things like this that give Christianity a bad name. Jesus most surely is the Alpha and the Omega, the second person of the trinity, the only person ever to have they hypostatic union.......

How many Christians her actually believe that Jesus is not God??

  • Identity theft......?

A friend of mine had her name used to open up a Yahoo account. Then the person who opened that account tried to ruin her character with a volunteer organization by sending rude emails with her name on them.

Yahoo has shut the account down, after a lot of work and her faxing her ID and stuff to them. They will not give her any information on WHO set up that account.

What action can she take? She works for this non-profit organization and this has brought her character into question......

  • synagogue of Satan..........?

Is Jesus talking about the Jews?

Let us look at the verses in context and see just WHO Jesus (or John) is refering to: Revelation Chapter 2

9 I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know the slander of those **who say they are Jews and are not**, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Truth always prevails. What do you think---is he talking about the Jews----or others pretending to be Jews......

  • When asked a question regarding a Biblical series of verses.....?

does anyone BOTHER to even look up the quote to: 1. Be sure it is accurate or 2. read it in context.

I just responded to a question where it was OBVIOUS that this was not done by ANY of the responders. Hello people, especially those that might perhaps be here to in some way learn or teach or evangelize or whatever---------a little common sense!

So really, how many of you bother to read these in context?

  • Maybe the Catholic Church is onto something?

Maybe, just maybe the Encyclical written in 1968; Humane Vitae got it right when it said:

the man, growing used to the employment of anti-conceptive practices, may finally lose respect for the woman and, no longer caring for her physical and psychological equilibrium, may come to the point of considering her as a mere instrument of selfish enjoyment, and no longer as his respected and beloved companion.
