I took my car to the shop, because the brake light was on. It needs new brakes and shoes, and it needed a new cylinder. I had the cylinder fixed, but want to do the brakes and shoes myself. The garage says they won't release the car for "safety reasons". Can they do that? I can and will pay for the repairs they did, I just don't want to let them do the rest.

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards told a labor group that he would ask Americans to make a big sacrifice: their sport utility vehicles.

"I think Americans are actually willing to sacrifice," Edwards said Tuesday during a forum held by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. "One of the things they should be asked to do is drive more fuel efficient vehicles."

The former North Carolina senator was asked specifically if he would tell them to give up their SUVs, he said, "Yes."

Edwards was asked during his appearance how he explained the contradiction of asking Americans to sacrifice while he's living in a 28,000-square-foot (2,600-square-meter) mansion.

He said he came from nothing, worked hard all his life, has always supported workers and fought big corporations as a lawyer.

"I have no apologies whatsoever for what I've done with my life," he said to loud cheers.

You hate the war in Iraq, and I get that. If President Obama decides to invade Pakistan, would you be against that war and the lives that would be lost? Or do you only complain when Republicans are in charge? Does the fact that one of your front runners wants to attack a nuclear power worry you? Would you sign up to fight in "Obama's War"? A lot of questions, but I am curious about the answers. Do you really "want the troops home", or do you just not want Bush to succeed, and sending them off to Pakistan is fine as long as a Democrat does it?

If they want to help so much, and they are so concerned, why don't they give away every dime they have or make over the national average?

I ran out of fuel oil for my furnace, and the guy doesn't come until Monday. I have heard that diesel is the same thing. If I buy 5-10 gallons, could I make do until he shows up?
