  • Windows 7 Freeze problem HDD light on?

For the past few months my HP desktop (Pavillion p6310y) has been doing a weird freeze. It may freeze overnight but usually happens when I am using it. The hard disk light will usually be solid (but no hard disk noise & once it was off)and nothing responds not even the Caps Lock light. Also the graphics card fan will turn off, and usually the system fans will speed up. I wonder if this is a BIOS problem, hard disk failing or RAM problems or what.

  • Belt Squeal/Chirp that just wont go away?

No matter what I have tried I cannot get my 89 F150's belt to stop squaling. I have put in a new belt (x2), new tensioner pulley (also new A/C but that was a few years ago) , new and used water pump pulleys to no help. I know that the squeal is on the smooth side of the belt and is taking place on my water pump pulley (w/p) but I cannot figure out why. I can also see that on the W/P pulley that the belt is moving slightly forwards and backwards (on all ones I've tried new, used and original) at the same rate that the chirp is happening but why, many pulleys are new and there is no problems that I can tell with the rest.

I need to know possible reasons why the belt moves back and forth and why the chirp wont go away.

note: It mostly only happens when cold and is gone when hot

  • Belt Squeal/Chirp that just wont go away?

I've had this problem for what seems like forever on my 89 F-150, no matter what I have done I cannot seem to fully eliminate its belt squeal which I know is happening on the smooth side of the belt. What I have tried is New Belt (X2 with months in between), new waterpump pulley (new and used), new tensioner pulley and various other tricks on my old belt.

I have a couple week old belt on it now (haven't tryed anything on it) but there still is that noise. Its mostly happening at startup (till warm) and I can see the belt moving slightly back and forth on the water pump pulley and I dont know why. No other pulleys are moving abnormally (in and out, shaking etc.) so what is it I'm out of ideas (and really dont want to dump more $ into it)

  • Purpose of the PCM on late 90's Dodge Diesel?

I'm just wondering what the PCM does on a Cummins Diesel engine especially since diesels are pretty much self sufficient (excluding new electronic diesels) so whats the PCM there for. It doesn't seem to know much (OBDII code scanner showing many different areas uncompleted) is it just for monitoring the engine or does it do something.

  • 94 Cavalier not flashing codes OBD 1 or 1.5?

The paper clip trick does not work (pins A&B). The ALDL connector only has the pins:

    A (Gnd)

    B (Diagnostic)

    F (Auto Trans I think)

    M (Serial).

Why isn't the paper clip thing working and is it one of those OBD 1.5 cars (but I though OBD 1.5 used the E pin for serial so I'm confused). I have a 95 Saturn with the same pins minus F (manual trans) and flashes out codes fine (I know some cars those years were plain OBD1) . So whats going on???

I'm not going to get a scanner for this is a figure 8 derby car with running issues and a CEL on.

  • Horrible Sound Quality when playing CDs on PC?

The sound quality when playing directly from a CD is horrible (nearly impossible to make out words in the buzzing and cracking) on my PC in Windows Media Player (I haven't tried other programs yet) however if I Rip those CD's the sound is crystal clear.

Rarely I directly play CDs but I wonder if there is a fix for that issue.

  • Belt Squealing no matter what I try?

On my 89 F-150 I have had trouble with it squealing especially on damp days. The old one was at the end of the range so I replaced it hoping that would fix it, didn't work (new belt perfectly tight) still squealing.

So just to throw a cheap part at it I replaced the tensioner pulley (which was looking quite sad and the bearing was just about to go anyway)

Still nothing, the noise goes away if I spray the top side of the belt with WD-40 but only for a second and that I'm sure isnt helping. I'm stumped on the cause.

Is there something conflicting with playing videos or is a plugin missing. It has had me stumped for a very long time. Everything is up to date Firefox 19.0

  • Saturn Clutch Hydraulics Issue?

I just replaced the clutch in my 95 Saturn and some how the slave cylinder managed to get stuck all the way out. I got it freed up by removing the line on the slave (I know your not supposed to on the sealed system) but now I have air bubbles. Most I got most out but still there isn't enough pressure to disengage the clutch.

So is their any tricks or ways to get the remaining air bubbles out? And dont say there is no way because some how Saturn had to fill and bleed the system it isn't magic.

Otherwise I will try yanking one from a junk yard car and see if that works before spending $120 on a new system.

  • Just recovered from an ear infection but is it returning?

A month or two ago I got over an ear infection (middle ear left ear) and for the past week or two my ear has been acting up again. My ear drum is sensitive to pressure changes (such as when I put my ear buds in) and I hear my heartbeat (like during an infection) but it sounds more like wind pulsing into my ear and the sound goes away if I clench my teeth slightly or look straight up. Its rather annoying and I am wondering if its an infection starting again and has anyone had this happen before?

(For some reason I almost get them yearly and some how I still have hearing in my left ear)

  • Clutch slip when engine warm?

On my 95 Saturn sl2 5 speed the clutch slips intermittently, but shouldnt it be slipping more. When the car is cold or if I only drive down the highway with no constant stop and go before the clutch will not slip no matter what. But if I left a town with a lot of stop and go traffic the clutch will begin slipping up hills or even by pressing the throttle about 1/2 way.

Supposedly the previous owners replaced the clutch (but probobly nothing else). also when it starts slipping the clutch pedal does seem to start squeaking and sticking. So im wondering if its a weird issue with my master/slave cylinders or I need to replace the clutch, pressure plate and machine the flywheel.

  • Graphics Card Upgrade?

I recently upgraded from my dedicated Geforce 9100 (integrated) to a Geforce 620 and I noticed that my old 9100 still is putting off a ton of heat even though it is turned off. Is it still doing some functions or does it just like running at very high temps even with a new card. I really dont want a melt down.

The BIOS says I'm running of the PCI-Ex16 card like it should be and supposedly the integrated chip is off. What could I be missing, or is this normal

  • Odd PC freeze hard disk light on ram high then drops?

Windows 7 froze while paint was open but the mouse still worked. The hard disk light was stuck on (I also could hear it reading/writing) and the RAM was somewhere in the high 90% range. The computer did unfreeze itself after about 2 minutes then the RAM dropped to 15% and the hard disk light shut off. I just wonder what happened.

  • Saturn SL2 die/lurch cold start issue?

95 Saturn SL2 when cold nearly dies then lurches forward when I press on the gas pedal slightly. Its annoying but its not a big deal.

No codes. Only happens from a cold start for a few minutes.

  • YouTube won't work with Firefox?

For months I haven't been able to get YouTube videos to play in Firefox. Everything is up to date and I have tried many fixes nothing has worked even reinstalling the browser.

The videos say "Error Occurred Please Try Again Later" after I press the play button (which doesn't show up in any other browser)
