Adoption shouldn't be a "get out of jail free" card for deadbeat dads.
9 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoShould we apply Title IX to the teaching profession?
Considering that we apply it to sports, and the administration wants to apply it to science and technology course at colleges, it makes sense to apply it to the teaching profession as a whole. Teacher training at college, and every grade of each K-12 school should, by law, have quotas of male and female teachers in line with their student population.
This would go a good way to ending the stigma of gender inequality in the teaching professions.
6 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoShould we cap male enrolment in science and maths degrees?
Science and maths are dominated by a sexist male culture that excludes women. We should cap male enrollment to be the same as female enrollment. Expanding Title IX Legislation is the quickest and easiest way to achieve balance, and wouldn't involve ANY need to change girls. Let's change the STEM fields. If that means turning away large numbers of male applicants, so be it. The future of science is too important.

Without men there to oppress people with their patriarchy, the working day goes a lot smoother.
7 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoShould we abolish the tradition of proposals and engagement gifts?
I'm talking about how the guys gets down on one knee and gives the girl an expensive ring.
In old times, when women were barred from most professions, this made some sense, as it was symbolic of a man's ability to provide, and he couldn't "propose" until he had could prove his financial stability, symbolically through the engagement ring.
But today, single men and women have equal earning power (there is no gender pay gap for women without children). So it really makes no sense to enforce gender roles on the proposal. All it does is bash the self-respect of both genders, for the women because it implies she can't provide for herself, and for the man, because he has to supplicate himself and act like a doormat.
4 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoIs this the reason boys lag at school?
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/02/th...
"No previous study, to my knowledge, has demonstrated that the well-known gender gap in school grades begins so early and is almost entirely attributable to differences in behavior. The researchers found that teachers rated boys as less proficient even when the boys did just as well as the girls on tests of reading, math and science. (The teachers did not know the test scores in advance.)"
This teacher cognitive bias against boys has been proven to start as early as kindergarten. They boys are achieving the same as the girls, right from that point, but they're graded lower than girls for the same level of performance - because their "behavior" doesn't match the (stereotypical) feminine ideal that teachers have been taught is the "correct" way for children to behave.

8 AnswersBooks & Authors8 years agoHow come single women in the USA earn more than men?
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/workplace/201...
"The women out-earn men in 39 of the 50 biggest cities and match them in another eight. The disparity is greatest in Atlanta, where young, childless single women earn 21% more than male counterparts."
Feminists, is this difference due to employer sexism?

12 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhy are liberals against lead poisoning?
From my research, lead poisoning only affects poor neighborhoods.
High levels of lead poisoning in young children causes brain damage and leads to high incidence violent behavior later in life.

But, come on liberal tree-huggers, isn't it the fault of those people for not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps?
