Why can't I forward pictures via Outlook Express?
I use Outlook Express for all my e-mailing yet just of late, I have found that I'm unable to forward e-mails with pictures (unless they are a separate attachment). My friends / colleagues report that the text comes out OK but the pictures come out as a blank box with a smaller box in the top left hand corner with either a tiny cross or an arrow in it (bit like a drop down box) which is totally inoperative. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
3 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoInternet usage - how can I monitor GB's used by our daughter?
We signed up with Phones 4 U for a monthly mobile internet deal for our 14 year old daughter. It came with a free lap top, and basically provides her with 3GB usage per month, for which they charge £25 (per month)
All appeared well until the first bill arrived for almost £60! We contacted all and sundry to check this out but it seems that this figure was totally correct and relative to her usage that month. 2 weeks into the following month we contacted Orange to check where we were, and in just 2 weeks she had clocked up not only her 3GB, £25 allowance, but a further £11 worth on top of that as well!
Turns out she had been on the thing just about every waking hour and most of the nights as well.
We don't want to ban her from using her lap top altogether but it appears that she has developed a bit of an addiction for it so we have decided to monitor it's usage on a regular basis.
Question: Is there a gadget or programme that you can easily install on the lap top which monitors usage? We want to check it on say a weekly basis to see how near she is to her 3GB monthly limit and thus 'train' her to spread her usage over the month.
Thanks in advance.
7 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoLiving in the penthouse - what a life!! Another little poser!?
A man lives in the penthouse of an apartment building. Every morning, he takes the elevator down to the lobby and leaves the building. Upon his return however, he can only travel half way up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way - unless it's raining! What's the explanation for this?
6 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoHere's a little poser for you?
Acting on an anonymous phone call, the police raid a house to arrest a suspected murderer. They don't know what he looks like but they know his name is John and that he is inside the house. The police burst in on a carpenter, a lorry driver, a mechanic and a fireman all playing poker. Without hesitation or communication of any kind, they immediately arrest the fireman.
How do they know they've got their man?
5 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoMy wife and daughter are big fans of Friends - OH MY GOD!!?
They watch it most nights on Sky TV. Every time I come into the room, one of the cast is saying "oh my God"! I hear it all the time. Out of all the episodes of all the series of Friends, how many times do they say"oh my God"?

My Dad has the above toby jug, it has Sairy Gamp and the number 271 or 371 hand carved into the bottom of it. The jug was made by Beswick and is about 6-7 inches tall. My Dad inherited the jug from a friend and he was told that it was possibly 100 years old. Can anyone advise if it is worth anything? Any advice would be much appreciated.

9 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoWhat are those silhouette stickers on the backs of cars all about?
When I'm driving around, I keep seeing these silhouette stickers on the backs of cars. One is like a bull standing side on but turning to face you, and the other looks like a hippy in a hat. Sometimes you see one or the other, sometimes both, often stuck on very nice cars! Are these people members of some weird cult or something?
5 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoI bought the daughter a 3 year old Yamaha Jog scooter last year but she recently had it serviced and now -?
it will run at only 30mph. The scooter had been derestricted by the previous owner and it would easily do over 40mph, but now she says it's dull and lifeless. I know that a branch piece of the exhaust had been cut off, crimped and welded over, which is still in place. But what else could the garage have done to put the restriction back in place? She has contacted them to ask but they were less than helpful. She says that her pride and joy has had the heart ripped out of it, can anyone help or advise?

Obviously there are suspicious circumstances surrounding this case, and there is clearly a need to carry out an autopsy to get to the bottom of things, but why not dig up the poor womans remains at a reasonable hour? Isn't this midnight business just a little bit spooky, and completely over the top?
13 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoHow do I get rid of this nuisance programme ?
I have a nuisance programme that keeps re-appearing on my computer. I subscribe to Norton anti virus but it got through that. I have tried Spy-Bot and Ad Aware which will get rid of it, but it re-installs itself onto my desktop every time I start up and then throws a big pop-up onto my screen. It seems that if I could somehow lock it out of the start up sequence, that would possibly do the trick? If anyone can help, I would most appreciate it as this bloody programme is giving my feet the headache!
16 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoTraining / apprenticeships - what help is available?
My wife runs a small hairdressing salon and for the past couple of weeks she has had a work experience girl helping her out. This girl is keen, shows initiative, is never late, and when there, she works hard. She loves working in the salon and would like to take up hairdressing as a career. My wife would like to take her on as a full time apprentice but sadly, the salon only has a modest turnover and this would only be possible with some sort of government assistance with the training costs. Are such schemes available? It would be a shame lose such a good girl.
1 AnswerCareers & Employment1 decade agoWhy are the packets and boxes so big?
I know that products must display the weight on the packaging, but why does it have to be so big? I bought a packet of washing powder the other day which contained the correct amount of product as per the weight on the box, but when I opened it, the box was only half full. The same applies to any packet of crisps, and all manner of other products. If every manufacturer looked at this, how much would we save in packaging costs, let alone savings to the environment, and ultimately the future of our planet?
9 AnswersCorporations1 decade agoEurostar baggage weight allowance??
My wife and her mate are taking all the kids to Disney Paris for the weekend on the Eurostar and the ticket says 20kg max per person luggage allowance. As they are only going for the weekend, she has got all the luggage (her and our 2 kids) in one large case which weighs 23kg. She doesn't want to take 2 cases but she is worried that the single case weight will be too much and she may be turned away at the check-in. Can anyone advise??

15 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoWhat's the best stuff that I can use to protect my new bike engine?
I've just ordered a new bike. Trouble is, I like to ride all year and no matter how hard you try to keep them clean, the front and bottom of the engines always suffer with pitting and rusting. I would like to coat these vulnerable areas with something and leave it for the winter, then clean it all off in the spring. Any suggestions on the best stuff to use?
14 AnswersMotorcycles1 decade agoThe pilot light on my Baxi Bermuda 45/4M boiler keeps going out?
When the timer on the controller gives a run signal, the pump runs but there is no heat to the rads or hot water tank. The boiler hasn't lit because the pilot has gone out. I have gone through the "light the boiler pilot" instructions religiously and the pilot will light, yet when I slowly release the grey button after 30 seconds, the pilot light goes out right at the end of the grey button's travel. I have tried turning the grey buton to the right and releasing it as insructed, but when I try to light the pilot again after 3/4 minutes, the same thing happens. It's almost as if the grey button is being allowed to travel outwards just a fraction too far which is cutting off the gas supply to the pilot light. Can the grey button be adjusted or will it require a replacement? If not that, what else could it be? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
8 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWill I have to pay Capital Gains Tax on the sale of my flat?
I own a flat in Devon which I purchased in 1994, and I lived there until 2000 when my work took me to Bristol. For 3 years, I lodged in Bristol with a mate during the week, and commuted home at weekends. During that time, I met my current partner and eventually moved in with her and her two children in her rented accomodation in Bristol. I now travel a lot with my work, so I still use the flat as base when I'm down in the South West. The Landlord of the rented property in Bristol has recently informed us of his intention to sell, and has offered us first refusal. As we have since married and wish to remain where we are, I now want to sell my flat in Devon to part fund the purchase of the house in Bristol. Will this attract any "unforseen" taxes like Capital Gains or Property tax?
