I am in my late-30's, married with a 6 year old daughter and work in global sales for a major hotel company in a suburb of Washington, DC.

  • Americans - it's election day. Are you voting? Why or why not?

I know it's not a major election this time, but in Virginia we are electing our entire state legislature, as well as county offices and school board.

Have you voted yet today? Do you plan on voting today? Serious and respectul answers only, please.

BTW - I voted with my 6 year old daughter at 7am today. I have not missed voting in an election since I turned 18, almost 20 years ago.

  • Why would people ask others not to exercise their right to vote?

I have seen questions here on YahooAnswers telling/asking people who think a certain way not to vote on election day. This seems really prejudiced to me - like some people think that only those who agree with them should be able to participate in our government, when in reality that goes directly against the principles our country was founded on. Can anyone explain this attitude to me? Polite and serious answers only, please.
