Americans - it's election day. Are you voting? Why or why not?
I know it's not a major election this time, but in Virginia we are electing our entire state legislature, as well as county offices and school board.
Have you voted yet today? Do you plan on voting today? Serious and respectul answers only, please.
BTW - I voted with my 6 year old daughter at 7am today. I have not missed voting in an election since I turned 18, almost 20 years ago.
US Veteran - thanks for your answer, but Super Tuesday will be February 5, 2008. The day when the highest number of states have their primaries.
Thanks to all of you for your answers, by the way. And thank you all for giving respectful answers. I appreciate it and it keeps this fun.

Thanks for voting! I just did too.
I am in my late 40s. I have only missed four times since I turned 18, and even those were too much.
Last year, I had to take a relative to surgery that day and we both got absentee ballots.
If people don't care enough to bother to exercise their RIGHT to vote, then why should the government care about THEM?
That's a good lesson (voting) to teach your daughter!

If anybody else did not vote, then i might elect who's in can charge because of the fact i'm going to in no way, ever, not vote. this is a cop out. substitute does not come on election day. substitute starts by potential of taking can charge of your very own life, starting to be an energetic citizen and contributing to the wellbeing of the rustic. in case you do not vote, you somewhat have not got any real to *****. And, in case you have not observed, there are rather some women human beings and minorities occupying workplace. ultimately, the workplaces that maximum impression all of us person are each and all of the interior of sight and state seats. Elections are not basically as quickly as in 4 years. they are each and every twelve months. pay interest and connect the ranks of recommended electorate. Or not. this is your selection.

I'm voting because it's important. I'm voting after work when I will have more time and will be able to review the candidates again at lunch break.
Even if my candidates lose, I feel better about myself for taking the time and responsibility to vote with my conscience. I don't look positively at people that don't vote. It's important. No excuses. We all should do it.
If you don't like the way the government is then you need to organize a protest. That is all of our responsibility. That is how you affect real change, stand together and fight for what you want/believe in. We should be protesting by the millions given how many people are dissatisfied with our government. So why aren't we? I'm ready. Are you? People died for what we used to have. We are just going to let them have died in vain? No. That's not right.

I have missed only one election since 1968 because I was suddenly hospitalized. I will vote in every election no matter how un-important it may be. Our vote is one of few controls over our government that we have. If you don't vote and you end up with a result you don't like, you have no right to complain and your vote may have been the 1 to change the outcome.

YES,,,I am on my way as soon as I get off here and eat my breakfast,,,thanks for the reminder...there are many things I want to vote against this time...I only missed voting one time in many years and I felt sooooo guilty and it was only because I was at my sisters and got home too late,,she lives in a different county

No, because we don't live in the city limits, so I don't get to vote for issues I would like to. These issues affect me as I only live 10 mins. away from the city so I'm kind of peeved. There aren't many issues in my district this time around that I am interested in, so I'm not voting. I'm eagerly awaiting the 2008 election.

Haven't voted, won't be voting, because my state has nothing for me to vote on today. Odd-year elections aren't exactly the rule in the US.

I am definitely going to vote today. I vote in every election because these people are the ones who affect my life.

Stupid people....
1 vote has never changed any election in the USA EVER.
the guberment THROWS OUT MILLIONS of VOTES it "doesn't like" ALL THE TIME.
Yes let me go vote for which lying sack of s h i t I want this time around, NO THANKS.
if NOBODY VOTED they would be forced to drop ALL candidates and get NEW ones , and we keep doing that untill they get honest REAL Americans not elite a s s w h i p e s that want to steal my money and my freedom!
Support your country DON'T VOTE !
This is the ONLY way to FORCE the guberment to reorganzie and the politics to change.

Today is actually Super Tuesday, and only some states hold primary elections today, not all of America.
