  • After every tax cut tax revenue increases?

I was recently having a discussion with a co-worker when the following "fact" came up.

"After every tax cut the following year tax revenue increases."

Simple question here. Is this true? If not, can you give me some solid facts so I can open this discussion again?

  • What's the smartest way to invest?

I'm 24 years old and I want to start investing now for later on down the road. What is the smartest way to invest? I'm not talking about a lump sum, I'm speaking of putting more money into the investment monthly. Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

  • What is the best way to buy a ring?

I'm going to be proposing to my girlfriend of two years in about six months (her birthday). I want to pay cash for the ring, not go in debt. My budget starts at $1000 but I would spend up to about $2000. I am open to purchasing online. I just want to be able to get the most out of my budget. Like anyone else I want the best deal for what I'm working with. I'm looking at solitaires, no yellow gold she hates it. Any suggestions? I don't know how ring buying works. I don't know if prices are very negotiable and I'm not an extremely educated buyer. I'll take all the advice you can give.

  • Where do you see health care reform going?

I can tell by checking the thumbs up/thumbs down on questions lately that there are a lot of republicans or conservatives on today. I personally am a liberal democrat. I do enjoy trolling these questions as do you but this question is a serious one and trolls will be reported.

With many democrats saying they will not support a bill without a public option and republicans saying they will not support a bill with a public option where do you see all of this ending up? How much real reform can we get? I will tell my congressmen not to support a bill without a public option and I'm sure the right leaning people who check this question will do the same if the bill has a public option in it. Everyone is very adamant about what they want and what they do not. There is a lot of confusion on what is really in the different proposals and no major media outlet is helping this situation.

So in closing I have the main question I'd like to see your answers directed towards. What will the final health care bill look like?

  • Is auto insurance socialism?

Considering every state (to my knowledge) requires a driver to purchase automobile insurance does that make it a socialist agenda? While it could be argued it is to protect people from huge financial loss in the case of a wreck the same could be said for health insurance protecting people from a huge financial loss if you become ill. Why have republicans not taken a stance against this yet?

  • Shouldn't we destroy the public school system?

Since it's socialism in it's own right. You should only be able to receive an education if your family can afford it right? I'm sick of paying for other people to become educated. No more government hand outs! Rah rah rah republican rant rah rah.

Why aren't republicans making this argument as well?

  • Are you offended when...?

Feel free to share your own stories as well.

I work in the service industry. To break that down even further, I'm a waiter. I have a baby on the way. He is due September 6th. My girlfriend and I are not married and do not have any immediate plans of getting married.

Recently I was waiting on a table, an older man and woman who looked very well off and were very polite. Before their meal they asked my name and asked if there is anything they can pray for for me. I'm not very sure that I even believe in religion even considering I was raised religious and went to a Christian school until I was ten years old. Considering I'm at my work and I don't want to be rude by telling these people my personal beliefs I just say that yes I have a baby on the way and they can pray for him. They ask the normal questions about due dates and the sex of the baby then proceed to ask me my wife's name. It's very obvious that I'm not wearing a ring. Once again, I'm working and feel obligated to just play along so I tell them my girlfriends name.

I can't stress enough that these people were sincere and seemed to be good people. Besides that though, I still felt somewhat offended. Why do I have to be married? Can I not live in sin happily with my girlfriend and my baby? Why do you think it's ok to ask random people if you can pray for them and put them on the spot while they are working? I'm not at your church.

I just wanted to hear other similar stories and maybe get some feedback to know if everyone thinks it's ok that I was a little offended.

  • Looking for a website...?

Is there a website that tells you the meaning behind songs? I like to know what an artist was thinking when writing their lyrics. I know this is an awkward request. I just connect better with the artist if I know what was going on when these songs were written.

  • Help with a Vegas Vacation?

Me and my girlfriend are planning to go to Vegas around September or October. We aren't going just for gambling. We are mainly going to see shows and look around Vegas, just to enjoy ourselves after our baby gets here. My question would be where is a good resource to find information about visiting Vegas? We would like to find a couple of shows to see and a nice hotel to stay at and also maybe see a couple of attractions. About the gambling part we only plan to play around a little, nothing high stakes. Any ideas?

  • World of Warcraft - How can my friend give me a character?

I recently quit playing WoW. I was playing Horde and actually played against friends on the same server. The people I was playing against now want me to play with them and have a character they can give me. I'm just wondering how can he give me this character? I don't want to move my characters off this realm. I'm fine with buying another account but would I also have to buy another copy of the game? How can he transfer one character to another account? Thank you in advance. I would really appreciate a solid answer.
