  • What's the best place in Markham, Ontario (northern Toronto) to do my taxes that costs under $100?

I need to find a place (under $100) that knows how to claim self-employment business expenses (driving Uber), as well as how to file for a T4 RSP, and OAS, CPP and Gauranteed Income Supplement income. They should also be able to let me know how much clawback of GIS to expect based on my income. Liberty Tax Canada seems knowledgable, but costs $250!

  • Illegal to witness sexual abuse and be silent about it?

Is it illegal to be witness, or be made aware of by the victim, to childhood sexual abuse and be silent about it? Are family members liable if they are told of such an occurrence and choose to act as if nothing happened?

  • Mortar falling apart or weep hole?

Had a mouse problem, then found the holes. There are like 4 or 5 larger holes and other smaller ones. Some spots definitely look like the mortar is degrading, but there are a few that I'm not sure about. Your opinions?

  • Is it illegal to authorize a credit card transaction I didn't make myself?

So, I recently received my credit card statement, and noticed it contained a few transactions I did not make myself. Of course, I contacted the credit card company and informed them. However, one of those transactions is a credit to my card (negative amount). So my question is, would it be illegal to "authorize" that one transaction? FYI, the company crediting me is not my credit card company.

My question is not about morality, but about legality.

  • What would you do if you were in an abusive family?

What would you do in this situation? If an adult family member finally had the courage one day to come forward with experiences of childhood abuse, and instead of real support, they get continued criticism of the person's passive personality, their whole family obviously conspiring against that person making them feel guilty, and even pushing in unison with the intention or hope that they would do something drastic like suicide, or become violent, or become severely depressed and isolated from the family. It's as if the family keeps some sort of inner circle and try to push out those not like them. I mean, my expectations for the person's family would be they would immediately help that person confront the abuser, or at the very least understand that person more and help that person be happy. I fear that my friend's abuse was even planned. I get so angry sometimes, seeing what my friend is going through, that I want to post the names of his family somewhere...

  • How do you feel about undercover marketing?

(Reposting since original got removed inadvertently.)

Undercover marketing is, for example, when people pose as normal customers, but their intention is to influence potential customers to buy into the service or product being offered by making the product seem more desirable, influencing the opinion of the potential (unaware) customers.

    Link for more info:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undercover_marketing

I believe I've been exposed to this many many times at shopping malls, at info fairs (e.g. to influence people to join a union), at a dance studio, ...even on web sites (people posting replies to their own questions - their answers containing fishy links to commercial sites).

Do you believe you've been exposed to undercover marketing?

If yes, how do you feel about it?

The practice of undercover marketing is illegal.

Do you agree it should be illegal, and reinforced? Or do you believe in "market economy"?

Post your answers, I'd like to know what you think. Thanks!

  • Site(s) to verify origin(ality) of pictures?

Does anyone know a site or sites that would let you verify the origin of a picture, producing a list of sites where that picture was found?
